We reached out to have him take on a full remodel. He took time to explain things clearly and was always responsive when I had questions. The remodel was done on time and with a lot of care. Overall I really felt I could trust Marcus to get the job done right, and that makes a world of a difference. I absolutely most definitely recommend Marcus and McKenzie Construction and would work with him again!!!

We have loved working with Eric! He's worked on our house for two different projects which…read moreinvolved both major and minor structural changes/reframing, (including putting in a 550lb beam), skylight installation, and window installation. Eric was incredibly patient with the deluge of questions we had during the planning stages. He has excellent foresight and advice for everything from layout to return on investment. Expectations were clear from the start. He's really easy to work with and talk to. Both of our projects came in within the (very reasonable) quotes he provided. He was punctual and left the worksite clean and safe every day. 100% recommend.

They finished the work on time, being early at crucial milestones, and completed it under budget. Eric, the owner and contractor met with us several times ahead of the remodel to discuss what we wanted. He explained his philosophy and in depth knowledge of his craft. He said that he dedicates his time to one job at a time and kept our budget in mind. He communicated well with us so that we could understand and was patient and very positive. He gave us multiple options for our design with consideration given to functionality and Feng shui. His design capability was excellent and he used his real estate experience to help us in this way. However, he allowed us to make our own choices. We got a schedule of the remodel and a detailed list of the products needed and presumptive prices. We were given the option of buying our own and a credit or debit would be listed in this case. Eric would purchase the material if we didn't, keeping track of our budget. We bought about 60% of the materials. We were made aware of the tariffs put on some of the products, and the sales in the future when we could save on some of the products. We were advised to go slow on the larger purchases like the cabinets. We chose to DIY the flooring and paint. Being novices, Eric was very helpful in advising us in these areas allowing us again to stay in budget and on time. Prior to construction, Eric pointed out some red flags, such as a popcorn ceiling which did have some asbestos, and a leaky water main. He arranged for two other contractors to remove the asbestos and apply drywall. He also replaced our water main turn off valve. Overall, having a contractor who devotes his time to your remodel, punctual, keeps within budget, and tailor to how you live, no matter how large or small the remodel, is an excellent one.

From day 1, his calm and friendly demeanor was extremely reassuring as we tried to squeeze the ideal workplan within our budget. He was honest with us throughout the process and ultimately executed very high-quality work. I can't stress enough how valuable it was to have his quick and honest feedback during both the design and build phases of the project. His responses were always timely, and the work finished on time as well. To top it all off, he went above and beyond in facilitating extra paperwork required for this particular project. In the end, we were blown away with the final product. The house is more safe, secure, and MUCH better looking than when we first started. Hats off to a quality contractor!

After a couple weeks my wife commented that one half of the floor seemed markedly cooler than the other half. I could sort of feel it but whole thing a bit subjective. Called Darren and he came out to look. I had pictures of entire remodel except a picture of the heating cables before they were covered up. Darren said he might have some. To his credit he told us he did have pictures and the installer did not have a long enough cable and switched to a larger spacing in the cooler side of floor. He said this is wrong and blamed himself for not seeing it and not the installer. A management subtlety I appreciated. He then offered to replace entire floor. That work was completed today. This company does great work and obviously has very high integrity. Many thanks to Darren for enthusiastically making things right. I highly recommend this company and Darren.

I started reaching out to them and finally got a projected start date of late Sept. 2020 at the end of July, 2020. As we got into the middle and late August, I tried to reach out to them again to get a firmer start date. After numerous attempts by me they finally responded in the second week of September that they would not be able to follow through with the late September start date. I was told they could do the job next Spring! They stated that due to CoVid they had laid off half their work force! I understand that CoVid has created huge effects in our personal lives and economy. However, I noticed that other companies are responding and continuing to take on work. Ren-O-Paint's decision and late communication with me forced me to immediately search and find a company willing to take on my house painting. Fortunately, I was able to succeed finding someone and will get my house painted when I wanted it done and not to Ren-O-Paint's schedule. I regret having to give this negative review of Ren-O-Paint not keeping their commitments, but so it is! Despite the crisis, other companies are able to make commitments and keep them!
