Excellent communication via email back and forth with questions I had prior to ordering. Received status updates when money was transferred to Canada Post along with tracking number so that I could trace the shipment. Money actually delivered one day earlier than expected through Canada Post Tracking info. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! The website looked fine, but the communication was surprisingly poor, I was on hold for 14 minutes. I was told I could hold the pesos with a 10% deposit. They emailed the info for the e-transfer and luckily, I caught that the order was for a different currency altogether. I emailed and they corrected it. The transfer went through on my end, but the next day they emailed and said they couldn't deposit it, what password did I use? The one you sent me, I replied. 2 days later on a Sunday the e-transfer suddenly went through. Before I went in, I Googled 3 different websites to get the exchange rate for that day. They offered me significantly less. I said look at these 3 other quotes, "That is our price " he said. I thought you would be competitive like your website states " That is our price" he said. I've used Interchange Financial about a dozen times. The first 8-9 times I used them it was fine. A little bit slow, about 7 business days on average to get my money. But I got it and I trusted the system. When I changed my delivery method from electronic bank transfer to a wire transfer, everything fell apart. My money did not arrive for over a month for the first transaction, and because I didn't realize that this was a systematic problem with Interchange Financial, I had two more transfers held up for over 6 weeks each. The worst part, and why I'm reviewing Interchange Financial this way rather than the bank system, is that Interchange Financial did not treat this with urgency. My impression is that they did not respond in a timely manner to the banks when they was a compliance check, and so my transactions languished. They gave me a better rate than the bank would, also better than the place in the Eaton Center. They even had Costa Rican currency in stock, which a standard bank requires ordering in advance. When I called they gave me a confirmation number so when I showed up later, I was able to get the rate they promised me on the phone. Staff have been friendly even when I get overly specific regarding the denominations of bills I'm looking for. All in all, I can't see why I won't come here for my future cash exchanging needs so it seems like 5 stars applies! read more

While they give excellent exchange rates, their business practices are a bit 'iffy'. How to avoid Iffy practice number 1: Most places will offer you a booking or confirmation number as part of their practice. Not this place! When you call ahead and get a quote ASK FOR A CONFIRMATION NUMBER. If you show up stating the rate they had just given you 15 minutes earlier on the phone, the rate you will receive is much higher. Note, they will not offer you a confirmation number, you need to ask for it. How to avoid iffy practice number 2: Most places conduct business until closing time. Once they are closed, they then 'cash out' etc. Not this place! Arrive at least 15 minutes before closing time to exchange money. They start 'closing' 15 minutes before the posted time because it takes them awhile to close down machines, etc. and they want to lock the door and leave on time. read more

I called them for a rate, and was given a confirmation code and was told that all i had to do was go to the nearest exchange store to get my money. I drove half an hour to get to the place just to be told that rhey could not honor the rate PROMISED to me. I gave the corporate head office a call and they set me up with incompetent people and told me that they could not do anything about it. They gave me their "best rate" which was significantly lower than other shops. It was even lower than my local BMO bank. If you want an untrustworthy promise and incompetent customer service representatives, AND low exchange rates, then by all means go with this company. But if you want better rates and better service i suggest you look at some of the downtown toronto branches as they offer amazing rates and quality customer service. read more

A service charge? Really? I needed to get some foreign currency reasonably quickly and as they're open on Saturday decided to make my way down there. As I was exchanging foreign currency for foreign currency they had to convert to CDN first. No problem I realize I'm going to lose a bit on that but it shouldn't be too great. They exchanged the bills for CDN and then the issue started. They wanted to charge me a service charge for exchanging some traveler's cheques. And not just a minor percentage either but 10%. So it would have literally cost me $25.00 CDN to get this transaction done. The clerk simply said, "it's company policy" and wouldn't move on that. I asked for my money back which she gave, a little reluctantly I might add, and kept saying that the banks would charge me more. So I took it to my branch, did everything there and while I might have lost a bit on the full transaction, I actually saved money when it came to the travelers cheques as they didn't charge me anything to cash them. On the whole, I came out $15.00 ahead by using my bank. So no thanks ICE. read more

A complete waste of time and terrible, terrible service. A call to the manager indicated that they would close early because of the associated Ontario Tourism location but this was not true; the Ontario Tourism lady had kept the doors open for the remaining customers. I went to Interchange Currency Exchange to get GBP for my trip to London. The rate I received was better than CIBC (847 CAD vs 830 CAD) and Travelex (889 CAD vs 830 CAD) but they wouldn't honour the 807 CAD rate that KnightsBridge FX had, which was significantly lower. I talked to customer service - they said it was because KnightsBridge FX has a lower rate for non-cash (i.e. bank to bank) transfers; not for cash-to-cash transfers. I think there were probably other places I could have gone to, but this place didn't feel as 'sketchy' as the smaller stores. Would likely go again. They kindly also provided me with a mix of 50s/20s/10s/5s for ease of convenience while travelling. read more

I order funds through here for a vacation to Brazil as assured it would arrive "guaranteed" prior to my departure which was 10 days away...guess what never came! Called on way to airport and they blamed in on Canada Post...so I was then told DO NOT pick up the money and it will automatically be returned back to Interchange if not claimed within 7 days..told be it would be in my acct before I arrived home in 2 weeks...that was the first of January...its now March and I still do not have my money!!!
