The Lady behind the Counter of Foreign Currency at the Eaton centre right beside the Cellphone cover store or Right to the up going Elevator was extremely RUDE today. It was I believe 8.30 pm, I had asked her the Rate of the US Currency and also asked her what time She is closing, told me 9pm. When I went up before 9pm, she said" I am closed" from behind the Sliding Mirror/ window, it doesn' t look like she has closed. I stepped out Puzzled and told another Couple waiting outside that the lady has closed ....the couple looked confused but anyhow they went in and after 5 minutes I found that the lady wasn' t closed and she was exchanging their foreign currency. But that lady wasn' t willing to exchange mine,Weird and RUDE.Cant believe, this kind of People get hired in a Business sector. read more

The exchange in Eaton canter, they don't say that charge you hidden fee (extra service fee) before transaction, CAD5 charged me as S/C, not recommended at all. read more

I went here to exchange my Japanese yen couple days ago. I looked online and the current live exchange rate was 10,000 yen for 130 CAD, according to www.xe.com. When I got to the Foreign Exchange Centre, they were secretive about their exchange rate (they would not display the buy and sell rate). The clerk (who was an older cranky lady) told me that she would exchange 10,000 yen for 90 CAD. WHAT A RIPOFF. I had to check with her three times because I could not believe what I was hearing. She refused to write it down on paper for me. I understand that they have to make money by charging fees but I would have lost 40 CAD for every 10,000 yen I exchanged. That's almost a THIRD of what you are exchanging. How unethical and gross. I was planning on exchanging 88000 yen that day, which was worth 1144 CAD in the market. They would have only given me back 792 CAD, meaning I would have had to pay 352 CAD to the exchange centre for a single transaction. I ended up leaving the place without exchanging money. Do yourself a favour and don't even bother going here as it is a huge waste of time. read more

I had been waiting for a good day to exchange CDN for EURO and was in the mall and had been postponing exchanging for a while so finally decided to do it, perhaps it was my impulsiveness, after waiting for a good price for a few weeks, that when i saw it 1 cdn = 1.3695 i jumped on it. I asked the guy who was working there if there was a service charge and HE SAID "yes only 2 cdn dollars flat" so im like awesome cool, and he gave me the total, and it sounded a bit off, but some reason i believed him. yeah it was actually 5% on 500 dollars so basically i got ripped off 34 dollars. I know it's really my fault for not paying more attention and being naive, but seriously, he said 2 dollars. And on my receipt, i think he purposely stamped out the service charge and exchange rate because is watched him take his time to make the right placement to stamp it so i dont see it. jerk. read more

I didn't know any better and changed Chilean pesos here. Even as I signed off on it, I thought, hmm....that doesn't seem like a great rate. But I was in a bind and needed to get this taken care of. Fast forward a few days and I'm at my bank and ask them to check the rate and what I should have gotten. Yep I got ripped off BIG time by this place. Do NOT go here, they're huge scammers. I'm amazed they're allowed to do this. RIP OFF!!!!! read more

The exchange rate was terrible. I handed 30 american dollars and received less than 32 dollars! And the real exchange rate is 1.25!!!!

DON'T go here. Total rip off. Went across the street for a much better rate almost lost around $200. I was told my the currency place across the street that both currency places in Eaton center are owned by the same person and they give very bad rates. Looks like preying in innocent travellers. Rates aren't even close. read more

Hi everyone, For everyone scammed by this store, PLEASE file a complaint at Better Business Bureau. We should not let these people scam us easily, the city official has to take action to bring down the store which is located in the heart of Toronto and in the middle of our tourist attraction site. Apparently, their business has no transparency, it doesn't respect its customer, and they refuse to give me a refund. I had to stand there to stop incoming customers before they gave me a refund and the business manager hung up on me. Don't just review on yelp. Please take action. Next time you are in Eaton centre, file a complaint to Eaton's landlord. File a Better Business Bureau report: http://www.bbb.org/kitchener/business-reviews/currency-exchange/foreign-exchange-centre-in-toronto-on-1186899/complaints File a Toronto Police report for commercial fraud: https://www.torontopolice.on.ca/core/fraud_under.php This store should not be here. hm ... 4 or 5 days couldn't possibly change the foreign currency that much, could it? or maybe it's because i changed my USD to CAD at the airport? at the airport, i got $105.62CAD for $100USD. here, i got $108.77CAD for $100USD. how i already spent $90CAD in the past 4 or 5 days is beyond me. ): read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! The absolute worst place you can do business with. Absolutely horrible in terms of exchange rate. 1USD = 1.07 CAD, but the place gives 1USD = 1.01 CAD then charge 5% fee. Let my husband exchange money without me, 400USD turned to $380 CAD when it's supposed to be $430CAD. My mistake, don't let your husband go exchange money alone, and be knowledgable of the actual exchange rates. What a rip off. read more

NEVER EXCHANGE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!! This place is so shady and unprofessional. JUST HORRIBLE! This is the one located right beside Shoppers Drug Mart inside the Eaton's Center. I had $40 US in my wallet so I wanted to exchange it to CAD. This Filipino lady that was working there looked at my $40 dollars and just gave me $31.02 from her open drawer. I thought it was weird how there was so much difference but I just grabbed the money an walked out. As I stepped out of the store, confused, I turned around and asked her for a receipt. She mumbled something and THEN she proceeded to turn on her computer. She went and MADE up a receipt on the spot (it took her around 5mins) and manually typed in service charge for $5. Uhhh are you serious?? $5 for a SERVICE CHARGE!? Aren't you suppose to tell me that before if there is a service charge? I told her I didn't know about this 'service charge' and just wanted my money back. She then tried to explain how that was final transaction. EXCUSE ME you didn't even put it in the computer until I asked for a receipt how is that final!? Then she acted all annoyed but gave me my money back. Obviously she tried to cheat me and make extra $5 off of me thinking I am some kind of stupid tourist. Seriously I've exchange my money at so many different places in different countries and I've never been charged this 'Service Charge' before. I doubt tourists will read reviews on foreign exchange places before dropping by, but I just wanted to put this online in case someone does. Don't go here if you want your money properly exchanged. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. In total $2870 HKD was exchanged which is equivalent to $453 CAD however they only gave $258 CAD. This is $200 less than the actual value!! Lost a lot of money. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

As I was walking through Eaton Center, I spotted these beautiful Royal Canadian Mint silver coin on display at the Foreign Exchange center beside the Shoppers Drug Mart. I also had to exchange couple hundred Euros so I walked into the store. I was greeted by this uninterested employee who didn't want to work. I asked her if I can get my money exchanged and also get the Mint coins. She right away told me that the store is CLOSED- Its 4.10 pm on Saturday!! Store hours stated otherwise. I asked her for an explanation so she stopped responding to me. Basically, I was refused services for, God knows, what reason? She was not in the mood to make a living for the company. I found her behavior rude and demeaning. This is NOT a good business place. Will never go there. Awful service and awful staff!! I wish I can communicate this to her supervisor. read more

Don't come here, they charge you at least 5% Service Charge (depending on the currency you're buying) - and they don't tell you! Just had the unfortunate mistake today at the FEC Eaton Centre location, and the employee was busy talking on the phone and was in rush to get you out the door - she doesn't give a rat's a$$ as all transactions are final. Thankfully we didn't buy all our currencies at once. Be warned! read more

NEVER CONVERT MONEY HERE. I just had the worst customer service experience i've ever encountered in my entire life. I went to convert $350 USD to Mexican peso. First the woman at the counter told me I had to change my money to CAD, and only then I could convert to pesos. This made absolutely no sense but I agreed to avoid issues. By the end of it she had given me 2500 Mexican pesos for $329 CAD. I walked away so confused but she was rushing me out of line to move onto a big group of kids. I went back to my office and realized she had short changed me by 2000 mexican pesos or more. As soon as I went back she told me ALL SALES ARE FINAL and would refuse to hear me out. She then told me to call the number on the receipt. I called twice and left two voicemails. Finally, I told her I wanted her name and when she refused I started taking videos and pictures of her. After telling her I was going to stand there and direct all her customers to the other currency exchanges upstairs and put her picture on all social media sites --- she told me she would give me back my american money. Once she did she proceeded to tell me to shut the hell up and to go away. This is by far the worst customer service i've ever received in my life. DO NOT go there! read more

im clueless about money (exchanging it) so i had my mum come in with me and the older indian man behind the counter started off polite but when my mom was questioning the rate he was giving us he became so hostile and actually started yelling he tried to rip me off $17! how disgusting! DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY read more

STAY AWAY. The $3 the person before me scored is great, but just exchanged $300 CAD for $2000 Argentinian Pesos. Great to find that currency on a Saturday until we got home and checked the exchange. Should have been $174 CAD. I understand rates fluctuate, there are fees and it's a negotiation, but this is either a very bad mistake or it's criminal. Buyer beware of course, we should have checked their rate and checked online (why else do I carry around a huge phone anyway) but still, this is just taking advantage of people who don't do this very often. Terrible. I will update this review if they resolve the issue (not holding my breath based on other reviews). read more

I was charged $63 CAD to have $250 (less $63!) changed into pesos. Unless you don't have an account with a Canadian bank, this place is a gross ripoff. Bottom line, change your money at a bank where they won't charge you unjustifiable fees. read more

DON'T GO THERE!!!!! They scam you with non-notifying service charge. If I could, i don't even want to give the one star, they deserve 0 star!!! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. When converting Canadian dollars to Icelandic Krona they charged double the exchange rate, 0.01598 instead of 0.00866. When you tack on their 10% service charge, we paid $175.78 to receive the equivalent of $86.60. In other words, we paid almost $100 for something we could have done at the bank for (almost) free. This may not be illegal, but it's highly immoral. Save yourself money and trouble and go anywhere else. read more

Can't give less that 1 star, which is a shame. I should have called around to get a better rate but who would have thought they'd charge over 25 per cent over what I could have got at Calforex. Just terrible rates. If you must goto Eaton Centre for money, goto the other place. read more

PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! I WENT TO BUY 50,000 YEN, AND THEY CHARGED ME 592 DOLLARS - I thought that was the rate but then I checked online and other money exchange and I found out that most would exchange for $531 - $546...So I came back to complain, after much altercation the guy finally gave in, and returned 44 dollars back! What a rip off! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more

DON'T GO THERE!! This place is the biggest foreign exchange ripoff!! It's possibly tied with Thomas Cooke. I just made the mistake of exchanging 4760 Mexican pesos there and received $257.43 Canadian. I just checked the rates on line and I realize that I've been had!! I would have rather handed $100 to a stranger on the street, than hand it over to these CON ARTISTS!! read more

Beware the Foreign Exchange Centre on the lower basement level of the Eaton Centre! My relatives visiting from Japan changed their money there under the assumption that any business located in so illustrious a shopping centre must be trustworthy. As it turned out, they were charged a 10% service charge and were given an exchange rate fully 20 cents below the official rate. They only received $450 for 50,000 yen. When I saw their receipt I was shocked and phoned a number of other currency exchange businesses. It turns out that, had my relatives gone anywhere else, they would have received between $575 and $585. In other words, the Eaton Centre's Foreign Exchange Centre ripped them off to the amount of $125! What a way to welcome foreign visitors. Sadly, this incident will colour their memory of the Eaton Centre and Canada. (Needless to say, when I went with my brother-in-law to try to get his money back, the clerk merely sneered and pointed at the line printed at the bottom of the receipt: "All Transactions are Final.") (College Currency Exchange located at 1 Carlton Street one block north of the Eaton Centre is a safe alternative). read more

Complete scam. The woman behind the counter was the most rude, unprofessional employee I have ever seen. After trying to rip me off by offering an absurd exchange rate on CAD to EUR she proceeded to yell at me when I questioned her. Use the International Exchange Office in the Bay Atrium located nearby they sold Euros at 20% higher rate than these guys. This is a total trap for unsuspecting tourists, shame on you! read more
