Back in March 2017 I had a new master bathroom installed. The man Brian Eckert of Integrity Tile and Stone was recommended to us by the contractor. His phone number was a Texas number has he had moved into the Janesville, WI area the previous year, said he had done tile work for many years. We talked to him, seemed like he new what he was doing as he talked about waterproofing and that he preferred to do it himself so he knew it was done correctly, we hired him.
Fast forward a year later and we found that he had grouted the area between the tile and the shower pan. It's supposed to be caulked to account for flexion of the pan. The grout was breaking apart and coming out all along the shower pan and we had a crack running vertically up the corner from the shower pan. We stopped using that shower when the grout popped out to avoid getting water damage behind the tile.
I call the number, it is disconnected. Use the email address on the business card of ubeawarrior@yahoo.com and he actually responded. Explained what was happening and gave my phone number while asking for his new #, he said he'd fix it. He asked if I had grout, I told him no. I told him that I wanted all the grout along the shower pan removed and to be properly caulked so this wouldn't happen again. At first he tried to blame the contractor, even though we paid him separately and that the caulking should be done by the person doing the tile work. After very slow email communication over the course of two weeks, a missed appointment by him, my giving my phone number again asking him to call so we could have a fast conversation, another potential appointment set up by him that was again missed I got the distinct impression he didn't want to fix his error. After, again, asking him to call me, yet again, I haven't heard from him.
Its been 2-1/2 weeks since I initially contacted him, haven't heard a peep from him for a week. We are now doing the fix ourselves.
For someone who has supposedly been doing this for years didn't know or didn't care about caulking between a shower pan and tile. read more
