I have been going to this Equinox for the past 4.5 years, ever since we moved from Manhattan to the…read moreNew Jersey suburbs, and it's great. We were looking at a few different towns, but I'm glad we wound up in Summit because I love going to this gym. Pros (which are significant): - Like a typical Equinox, it's large, clean, and well-maintained, with all the usual amenities (including the chilled, eucalyptus-scented towels). They wipe down the mats well in between classes. - It's less crowded than the Manhattan locations I used to frequent. It's unusual to have to wait for equipment or a shower, etc. - The classes are great--and, honestly, the main reason to join Equinox (because if you need just a place to work out, there are cheaper options). I take practically everything (except spinning), and my favorite instructors include Kelsey, Michelle, and Jennifer. (John T. is also very good, but unlike the others, I think he still doesn't know my name, even though I've been doing his classes for years.) Renee does an excellent job overseeing the group-fitness program. - I haven't done much personal training here (it's expensive), but I did have a few good sessions with Marcus (and a friend of mine has been working happily with him for years now). - The Kids Club is a wonderful resource for parents. It's so nice to work out while someone watches your kids. It's $20 for two hours, but that's a bargain given the going rate for babysitting in Summit. - A while back, I complained about the lack of a juice/snack bar. Now they have one, courtesy of Essex Squeeze--and it's great! - I also previously mentioned the lack of built-in combination locks. Now they have them. Possible improvements (some admittedly minor, some not realistic): - I wish they had a larger stretching area or additional stretching areas; the one area they do have can get crowded. - They should check the treadmills more regularly to make sure they're in good working order; too frequently you'll encounter one that wobbles a little or makes weird noises. - A larger pool, heated to a higher temperature, would be nice. - The men's bathroom could use upgrading. There are only two stalls and two urinals. I wish the stall doors were the kind that went down to the floor and indicated whether the stall was occupied. They could also be cleaned more frequently. - I also wish they had some private all-gender bathrooms (like certain other Equinoxes). - Like every Equinox, they need to upgrade their toilet paper (Charmin Ultra Strong is the way to go). - I miss the old Kiehl's products. The Grown Alchemist cleanser doesn't lather or rinse off well, and its lotion doesn't get absorbed easily. (But replacing Kiehl's with Grown Alchemist was a company-wide decision.)

When I first checked out Equinox, I honestly wasn't sure about joining. My first interaction with…read morean associate wasn't very clear, so I left feeling a little unsure. On my second visit though, Elle helped me out--she was super kind and really convinced me to go for it. At first, scheduling personal training was a bit rocky since my original trainer (I think Joseph Marcantonio) canceled last minute. But then I got paired with Emily, and honestly she's the sweetest and most amazing trainer. She made me feel comfortable right away and helped me build my routine from scratch. Even with a couple of bumps at the beginning, I'm really glad I joined. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and overall the experience has been worth it.

I am a former NJ All State fencer that got into college through fencing. So, I sort of know what…read moreto look for in a fencing club. Not just for its entertainment value but its teaching skills. I think a lot of parents get bamboozled by nice big facilities or other factors. But, that is not what makes a good fencer. Neither does it mean that your kids will have fun. I personally know MANY young fencers that improved at a very slow rate mostly due to the club that they attended. They gave up after a couple of years and spent all this time and money for nothing. First, I can tell you that Boris, the owner of Worldwide, is genuinely a nice guy. He's a person with a lot of integrity which is somewhat rare in this business. Most clubs will only pay attention to their star fencers and the beginner fencers don't get any attention. They do this because their star players is what gets them their good reputation. So, parents send their kids to that club, thinking the club must be good. And, the kids don't have fun and don't improve at all. Let me tell you that Boris is someone who will pay personal attention to your child. That's vital. And, he's not just doing this because he just started his club. He really cares about each and every student. His private lessons will be longer than they are scheduled for. And, his group classes run over the scheduled end time as the kids love fencing and he continues to teach them. The most important factor you should consider is that Boris is an excellent technical teacher. His emphasis on form is, in my humble opinion, the best out of all the clubs in the area. (I've tried out every club.) It is what a beginner fencer needs the most when they first start out. And, it's the reason why I chose Worldwide for my kids. Anyway, like I said. Boris is very dedicated to form so that's extremely important to beginner fencers. I think it's probably the most important thing. My child has really improved because of it. Moreover, there is a great group of kids there who are pretty into fencing (instead of goofing off) at the same time, they appear to be having a lot of fun. I personally interviewed every local club in the area so if you have questions, you can private message me. I'll be honest and tell you the good and the bad. If I notice your message, I'll try to respond. But, don't get mad if I don't respond right away. I don't log into Yelp that often and I might not respond immediately!

Although I was a little surprised by the lack of a cord/weapon check at the start, but it was a small event. The club itself is a nice facility. There was plenty of workout equipment. There is a sitting room for parents that is air conditioned and heated (as appropriate). If I ever move back to the area, Hub City would be my first choice. (In fact, I regularly recommend it to friends in the area to try the introductory program.) They have all of their prices listed on their website, which many clubs don't do. I follow Hub City on facebook and they regularly have advertised specials for both Adult and Children's classes. Most recently was a $300 10-week adult class that included mask, glove and jacket - that is a steal! Hub City is also one of the few clubs I have seen offer a Mommy & Me program for kids under 7. I don't know too much about it, but it is a great way to introduce your child to a sport they could reasonably do into their 90s.

I like the fact that the 10-week course includes gear that you custom size and keep for yourself (helmet, jacket & glove).
