Their professionalism and pricing were five stars. Erich Strehl came to do the free estimate. He was so knowledgeable and didn't pressure us at all. He even gave suggestions on how to improve other problems we have in our home such as attic insulation. We scheduled to get it finished that Fall. However, due to unforeseen circumstances it had to be postponed. Above Roofing said we would be first in Spring at the same pricing. But we got a little break in the winter snows and we were put on the schedule that winter instead. The contractors and foreman were so professional. Except for the loud noise, we wouldn't have known it was being replaced. Each day, Jason Rees sent emails detailing the progress complete with pictures. We've been very happy with the results for the past five years. My only complaint was we didn't realize it was even a possibility they could come in winter. So they weren't able to clean up all the old roof that dropped to the ground completely and quite a few of our solar lights were broken as we didn't pack them away. The next spring we had leaking in our fireplace with the first rains and immediately called Above Roofing as they said we would never see a leak again. Jason went right up the roof to check the flashing. After a few minutes he figured out the problem. The leaking wasn't from our roof but from our chimney. So even after the roof installation they are willing to help us out and offer the names of professionals to help us get everything working well. I highly highly recommend Above Roofing.

Throughout the process they exhibited intense disrespect, unprofessionalism, and at times straight-up malice. A few highlights: * After giving them a deposit to "get on the schedule" I heard absolutely nothing from them for multiple months. When they did finally schedule it (after repeated demands for information from me) they gave me roughly 3 days notice. * The salesperson (Marco) made numerous hateful comments regarding my roommate and repeatedly refused to use his preferred pronouns - but only after he had our deposit. * They neglected to clean my downspouts. Just straight up skipped that step, I assume because they knew I wouldn't realize until it rained. * They skipped an entire gutter. When I complained to Marco he initially lied to me and claimed that my roommate had asked them to skip that gutter. He only reluctantly agreed to send them back after I demanded he explain why on Earth my roommate would ask him to skip a gutter that is overflowing with stuff. * When they returned to clean that gutter, they dumped everything in it on my lawn to teach me a lesson, smothering the clover I had recently planted. When I complained to Marco he again lied to me and insisted (despite photographic evidence that I had texted him) that actually they did a professional job and the literal wheelbarrow full of crap on my lawn was just a few scraps that they accidentally missed. If you're queer, Jewish, or a member of any group that Above Roofing views as sinful beware: they'll take your money but they'll make you regret it.

After talking to several companies and reviewing proposals, I chose Smart Roofing Systems. Smart has done many homes in my neighborhood and everyone had good things to say about them. My experience was no exception. One difference I noticed about Smart vs. other companies is that instead of having a huge dumpster placed in your driveway, they used an open trailer on wheels allowing for easy removal of the debris each day. I also liked the fact that this left no marks on the asphalt driveway like some heavy dumpster can do. The crews put in extremely long days and did an amazing clean up. When you tear down a roof, shingles, nails, etc. go everywhere. The job site remained neat and the daily and final clean up was superb. Smart was extremely easy to do business with. Great, responsive communications and follow up. I tend to ask a lot of questions especially given the costs involved. Never was I left hanging. I highly recommend Smart Roofing Systems.

Looking forward to having our old roof from 20+ years removed and replaced tomorrow, 07/24/25! Well fellow homeowners, our roof has been replaced in less than 8 hours?What is most amazing is that it was 100 degrees today in SW Michigan? What literally perfect hard workers and team removing our old roof and a professional and beautiful replacement in this 100 degree combined hot and humid day at our home in Vicksburg Michigan! I spoke in the Yelp chat with questions to the owner Richard Paige in Rockford, MI., who certainly knew all the questions he answered without hesitation and it revealed his knowledge of all the aspects we needed to know! We could not have been more impressed, and we made the decision to have our roof replaced in the very next week he was able to fit us into! A week ago our new premium was due and having our initial roof replaced today, we were able to obtain a credit of $617! Ask your agent about this because it was apparent our roof was old enough that it was raising the cost of our annual premium! We never knew that, but we must also honestly inform all homeowners that insurance companies are very concerned about possible claims because of aging roofs, which seemed fairly obvious, but it "woke us up" when faced with a 50% increase in the past 2 years? Thankfully our agent was definitely helpful and on our side in advising us we could save so much by spending a very reasonable amount with Smart Roofing out of Rockford who replied to me on the YELP APP almost immediately and the rest was history! We are now one week later very thankful this was communicated so well by the owner Richard Paige!
