The only time she turned, made eye contact and spoke with me was 1) to lecture me about being vegan and not getting enough nutrients and 2) lecturing me on taking 5mg of Ritalin a day for work (this is the lowest doss available possible) and compared to me to... are you ready??? Compared me as her patient to a person who LIKES to use cocaine and heroin. Told her I tried one mediciation before and it didnt work and wanted something different.. and she literally bullied me into taking the EXACT SAME one medication I tried and disliked. Then she gave me a Two week rx and told me to make a follow up appt in two weeks. Thats not how psychiatry works. Its one month minimum. There is nothing to follow up on in two weeks. She is just greedy and clearly doesnt care about patients. She is the worst DR I have ever seen in my life.

This was after I had filled out a large number of forms. I had already made it clear in the paperwork before we met. Then we got disconnected within 15 mins of an hour long session for which she never called back. When I called back, the person answering the phone was told by her to tell me their network died. She couldn't be bothered to notify me. Even by email. I was very disappointed and found their handling to be entirely unprofessional.

Nonetheless, the services I receive by Joy Ellis-George and her entire practice deserve accolades. Mrs. Ellis-George is very accessible, always responsive, extremely helpful, spot-on accurate, and takes the time to learn and listen to her patient. What I really like is her partnership throughout your care. She works hand-in-hand with her patients to arrive at the best path forward for care. I've had the run-of-the-mill psychiatrists--you know, the one's that ask the same questions on every visit, modify your meds, if applicable, and then send you on your way after 10mins. Mrs. Ellis-George goes beyond your PHQ and/or standard questionnaires, etc., to understand your concerns and underlying issues. Once she took over my care (after leaving another practice), it resulted in a great improvement in my quality of life. Mrs. Ellis-George is culturally competent, has compassionate bedside manner, very thorough in her assessment, and I have never found someone in the psychiatry field that even compares to her. I am so grateful to have come across her practice. Side-note: I first learned of the practice via psychology today. I scheduled an appointment with front desk, and I specifically asked for a télé appointment. Was never told that I needed to be there in person. On the day of the appointment when I called the office and was informed of their policy. I agreed to reschedule a visit for another day IN PERSON. The "manager" called me a few minutes later with a nasty attitude and was very rude and disrespectful. I had to ask her if "that's how they do customer service?" She slammed the phone down and the other associate had to answer the phone and communicate what she was failing to communicate. After the conversation I informed the associate that I did not have an issue with the policy that I was just made aware of, and I would be in for my appointment and the call ended. Few minutes later the associate call me to inform me that my appointment was cancelled and I'm no longer a patient. The office was working on documents for my employer to which I have been very patient and understanding, for them to waste a whole month of services that I could have received somewhere else is the utmost disrespectful and abusive thing they could have done. This is not the place to seek help, they are not helpful. It's just a bunch of people that are not trying to do their jobs with poor communication skills and nasty behaviors. Pro: big parking lot, big waiting room, clean environment…read more Con: long wait time, low staffing Needed to do a physical & blood test for my employer and I was on a time crunch so I was sent to this location compare to the Concentra I usually go to in beltsville. The parking lot is big so there is no issue with parking. The medical open at 7 am and I got there at 7:11 am and already there was about 10 people already waiting so I check in and waited for atleast 2 hours and 30 min until I was called in. After getting my vital done, blood drawn, and physical completed it took about 3 hours total from start to finish which is your whole morning gone just sitting and waiting. All in all, my experience was below average and I would highly suggest that if you need to go to Concentra for an employer to not use this location. I would gladly go to the Concentra in beltville compare to here in the future.
