LOOK AT ALL THEIR REVIEWS ONLINE THEY ARE PROBABLY THE WORST, if only Id researched a bit more I woulda avoided them forsure read more

I've had INTACT as my insurer for several years. Unfortunately, I had a basement flood and a hail storm required a new roof. The coverage was decent and handling repairs/restoring fair. However, when I got my first email reminding me that a payment would be due: I asked my agent to come to my home, at her schedule, to review and explain coverage - she would not after inheriting our account when the previous rep left, and basically, doing nothing. I left a review accordingly on their dealer - LINK INSURANCE in Calgary - site to share her unwillingness to meet ~ in other words, do her job. We researched several other insurers and found someone for $1000 less a year or $100 per month. Apparently, their apathy campaign isn't working. It made me apathetic to remain loyal. read more

I highly suggest anyone having any issues with Intact Insurance to speak with Terry (the manager) I can't even begin to explain the relief I had when he called me and was so eager to fix my issues. He put himself in my shoes and listened to me from beginning to end. If he knew it was going to take a day or two to get back to me with options- he made that clear and always marked his word with doing so. Never left me not knowing what was happening. He cared. Very much. and I needed that so greatly at the time (especially during a pandemic) I was very much contemplating changing insurance companies - but he continued to show me why it's worth staying with the company. Thank you TERRY!!!! I will never forget your remarkable efforts and your great dedication as a manger read more

WARNING FRAUDULENT APP USED BY THIS COMPANY! We have had Intact insurance for a few years on our property in BC. Recently we moved to edmonton for my wife's work. (i'm retired) We rented so we had to insure our rental. Next came the change for the car from BC to Alta. Naturally having the insurance in bc we picked Intact from the quotes. We were offered the car insurance with a 25% (roughly $600) discount. All we had to do was go through 1000 km with their app "my driving discount." That was when the fun started. First off the app didn't work or worked sporadically. Support got us nothing except now the app totally did not work. Roughly 3000 kilometres got measured as 50+ kilometres. Finally they had me delete the app and reload it. This time it worked. And that was a huge mistake on our part. Going through a merge lane on a right turn, a car coming through the intersection at high speed suddenly changed lanes. My wife hit the brakes (low speed) because it was unsafe to merge. The app shows hard braking incident with an immediate loss of 5% of safe driving discount. 25% now down to 20%. The driving app blames the driver regardless of the circumstances. A weeks driving with about 200km got it back up to 21%. So much for the chances of getting it back up to 25% with only 750 km left. My wife was down in Chicago for a convention. Her plane was late coming back due to inclement weather in Denver. Didn't get back till almost 11:30pm and she had to clear customs. She was travelling with co-workers so we drove another woman and her husband home. Stopped and unloaded the car. Big mistake! I should have just told the people to jump! Got home and found we was rated for two trips because of the stop to unload. When we acknowledge driving, the APP IMMEDIATELY TOOK 10% OFF THE DISCOUNT because we had BEEN OUT AFTER MIDNIGHT. It was treated as TWO SEPARATE TRIPS AFTER MIDNIGHT. Our discount is now down to 11%. i guess if i'd known i should have deserted my wife at the airport and gone home to safety. After all it isn't safe being a senior out after 12pm. I've been driving for 58 years accident free. Two tickets in all that time, the last 30 years ago. One in 1968 and one in 1990. This app is a FRAUD on customers, assigning BLAME for anything they consider suspect. There is no review, no one to complain to. If you're a night worker getting off at 12 you don't want to use it. If you can imagine driving scenarios where another driver does something stupid, like cut in front of you and make you brake suddenly, you won't want to be using this app because you will be blamed. I'm sure you can think of other scenarios. This app has nothing to do with SAFE DRIVING. Rather it is an instrument deliberately designed to GET RID OF SAFE DRIVING DISCOUNTS by making it IMPOSSIBLE TO QUALIFY. INTACT HAS TO KNOW THIS AND IS OBVIOUSLY IGNORING IT. If I were a betting man I'd bet the amount of their PREMIUMS has been RISING because the SAFE DRIVING DISCOUNTS have been TAKEN AWAY. And frankly, no insurance company tells me i can't be out after midnight. My opinion is this app represents a FRAUD ON IT'S CUSTOMERS and have ordered my agent to REPLACE all Intact's policies forthwith. I intend to take this right up to the INSURANCE OMBUDSMAN and hope for some regulatory action against them and other companies pulling the same rip the consumer off crap. If you've experience the same issues please escalate them up to the Insurance Ombudsman for action. I read on another comment they have over 900 negative reviews on another site and almost 200 here. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! read more

I am so disgusted with Intact. My insurance runs out in 3 days and I have contacted my broker 3 times. I cannot get the premium but they say my policy will be renewed automatically???? But no premium rate. I am giving them 12 hrs and that's it! Do they think I'm stupid? read more

My rates go up every year and I get lied to about rate decreases for sticking around. Go here if you don't believe me. Spend 3 years and see what happens to your insurance rates every year. Get try negotiating lower rates after you've over-payed the next 3 years. Good luck. read more

Terrible!!! Had insurance with them before and was able to get a monthly payment plan, that was a month ago. And now I called again and they said they're now allowed to a monthly payment plan although nothing changed on my claim or anything. Thieves and greedy! And they make you wait all day to tell you that, they have you on hold for way too long read more

I currently own 2 cars one is parked for 42.50 and the other is 251 a month. I took how much I owed for the year and decided it by the months left and my bill came out to 350 a month. I was given credit for me over paying so they put it towards what I owed. They used my money to bring down the 350 to 251 and said they did something for me. IT WAS MY MONEY I kept telling them but they kept saying they gave me credit. Stay clear read more

Stay CLEAR!!!! Never use this company. They are a complete rip off. We moved to a new neighbourhood and we are charged 300.00 for a change of address. Guess they figured if you can live there you pay more!!! Never again. read more

This company is a joke. Every time that I've dealt with them it's been a headache. I originally was with Challenge Insurance but they were bought out by Intact. Since then it's been a hassle, and they wouldn't bother helping me through an accident nor give me any advice. Now I notice that my car insurance has been expired since January this year but I'm still paying them! Seriously, I don't even know what I'm paying them for. This company is a real piece of work. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. read more

If I could give this company a 0/5 stars I would. Just finished settling a claim with this company. The customer service is absolutely terrible. No one ever returns calls or follows up on issues although they promise they will. You can never speak to the same person, so you are constantly having to repeat the entire scenario each time you call. When you call, expect to be put on hold for at least 30-45 minutes. Also expect zero communication from this company; if you want things to move forward and get resolved you will need to be the one pushing and managing this. Expect a difficult and stressful situation to be even more stressful. The advisor assigned to my claim never contacted me once and even though I called this company more than a dozen times I never ever did speak to my advisor. It took 2 months of constant calling and emailing and following up and escalating this to a higher level with this company to finally get reimbursed for rental car fees that should not have been charged to me in the first place. I was in a no fault car accident where I was rear-ended; Intact authorized rental vehicles and then would decide not to authorize, not inform me of the reversal of decision and stick me with the rental bill. Even now they think that issuing a credit to my credit card is an acceptable resolution even though I have had to pay cash out of pocket to pay those expenses months ago. We have since looked at several different companies and compared prices and have found that Intact is much higher than most. I would suggest you avoid this company. You are probably paying too much and if you ever have a claim it will be a nightmare dealing with them. read more

and that is being generous. my insurance was cancelled with this lowlife company in may of 2015. this company lied and said that they did not get any such notification. now almost a year later they are still trying to get supposed money that was owing when in fact this money was sent to them through ama in november of 2015. they are the worsed insurance company in canada. when my garage burnt down in 2007, intact hired the most useless cheap restoration company possible and the garage that i ended up with is an embarrassment and an eye sore. when i complained i got told that there was nothing wrong with the garage. their whole game is take as much money as possible from the clients and try to screw them out of what they are actually deserving. read more
