Be aware that Medford Tax does not accept clients who will be filing an extension…read more I was an existing client of Medford Tax from the prior year, and while John had made a bunch of careless errors on my tax forms last year that I had to personally spend time to correct, I decided to give them another chance. When I called in again this year, I reminded them of my situation about my forms, moving states, and that I needed to file for an extension due to a K-1 that comes in later in the year. They were ok with all that and I was sent a login link to the Medford Tax portal to submit documents for my taxes. After I reminded them that I was planning to file for an extension, they reconsidered and I was told that I'm "no longer a good fit" since they don't want to help people with extensions as they said it was like "preparing the same taxes twice". I understand that they may not like it when people file for extensions, but it is an extremely common practice with personal taxes that they should be accustomed to. I was surprised to be given this treatment and refused their services just because I am filing for an extension. Please be aware that Medford Tax does not treat returning clients well and are not very thorough when preparing taxes.

I would definitely make sure to keep Tom in mind if you are looking for someone to prepare your taxes

Last year our returns (federal and 2 states) cost $800. When working with Jeff expect good quality -- if Jeff has a clear sense up front of what's required and the flexibility to complete it when he is able to slot it into his schedule. In our experience you can also expect to follow up in order to stay on his radar. In our experience we lacked clear due dates, what (if any) additional documentation he needs from us, how many hours he expects to work, expected fees, what kind of notification he provides if fees exceed estimates, and when fees are due. While good quality, I'd also advise you to check your returns carefully every year, comparing what was filed to prior years.

Angela set me at ease from the start and it was clear to me I was in good hands. What I appreciate most from my interactions with Angela is her integrity - she was not rushing to sign me up as a customer, i.e., charge a fee to prepare a tax return. Instead, she collected some information and advised it would be more cost effective for me to continue doing my own taxes - this said a lot. It turns out that after some life changes, I did need CPA help and I went back to Angela for consultation and guidance. Working with Angela and her staff was a pleasure.
