I would have probably given up the whole self employed business long ago if not for Joe. I found Joe through some other colleagues in the Boston photography network years ago. I'll admit I was more than clueless about how to keep my bookkeeping organized and he took me under his wing, took the chaos and made sense of it all. Now I do most of the bookkeeping on my own and he gives it a look once a month to make sure I'm on track. In a "teach a man to fish...." sort of a way. Monthly, quarterly and annual taxes are a breeze now and I can confidently make business purchases and know the overall health of the business. If you're a small business (he has a keen knowledge of the photography business - take a look at his client list!! http://www.nakataconsulting.org/links.php ), but also for restaurants, etc... He'll do your sales taxes, bookkeeping, consulting and all at reasonable rates. I've referred him to friends (non-business owners) as well and he'll definitely take care of you. So walk right past H&R Block and call Joe!

I contacted him with a few reasonable questions about my return that he prepared. I was immediately met with passive aggressive attitude, condescending comments, and a complete lack of professionalism. Rather than answering basic questions, I was told to "go elsewhere" and also to hurry up and pay the invoice. I wasn't being difficult, I just wanted to understand few things. Apparently, that's too much to ask this accountant (who is clearly a miserable person). I have never been treated with such blatant disrespect by a so-called professional. It's honestly shocking that someone like this is running a business. If you're looking for an accountant who is patient, respectful, and willing to communicate, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Avoid Gerald F Paolilli at all costs if you value being treated like a human being.
