I recently returned while on a short trip to London and the kebab was just as delicious as I remembered. You can dine in or take away - make sure to ask for all the vegetable and sauce toppings on the kebab. It may seem a little pricey for one kebab but you get a ton of meat etc and if you can manage some self control and only eat half of it, it is a viable next-day lunch leftover option. The guys working the counter were always super nice as well!

I was about to take a moment to consider the vagaries of fate, when I saw a banner over the windows proclaiming: Best Mangal! I nearly squeed out loud. My husband and I have been trekking across the entire length of North End Road to West Ken for the past 3 years for the best Turkish kebab joint in all of London. And now, like the mountain to Mohammed, the Best Mangal had come to us in Fulham! Here's the deal: it's good, it's better than good, it's a stratosphere above the average kebab. Less than a tenner gets you an amazing lamb beyti, with heaping salad (delish in its own right!) and bread basket. Chicken donor is actually pretty lovely as well--didn't expect that! Looks like a takeaway, but there is a lovely restaurant portion with a garden patio where you can go for some hookah action if so inclined. Maybe when the weather is milder? The staff are so nice and shake hands when we come in--that could be because we went 3 times in one week when they first opened. =) Btw, hands down, better than the lousy Lebanese restaurant across the way. Just sayin'. Shame about us moving to Clapham...I reckon if the Best Mangal banner had appeared before we signed the papers, we might have had to reconsider leaving Fulham. In any case, we still trek, but this time across the river for some mouthwateringly delicious kebabs. What's even better is that the lure of a Best Mangal dinner gets me to David Lloyds at least once a week! Two birds! Anyway, if you're in Clapham, Fulham or Putney, make your pilgrimmage now. You'll not regret it. Promise. And you may even see us there!

Iskembecisi has been around for a long…read moretime, and when I first remember going there, it was quite elegant, this was around 10 years ago and the décor has not changed at all, so it is now kind of looking dated. I recall it being quite busy as a youngster but custom seems to have dropped. This is probably due to the amount of Turkish restaurants that have opened up in the area, which is uncountable. Nevertheless, I do pay the occasional visit, and on my last few visits, I have had the lamb chops, which are brilliant. I past buy today in my car, and the first thing I thought of were those chops. So on our way back through Newington Road, we stopped off and I got those chops, nothing has changed, it's great. I also just discovered that it stays open up till 5am!!

All the usual kebabs are exceptionally delicious and the salad has an individual look and taste about it. Served in wrap, rather than pitta form they are large, convenient for take-away and very good value for money. The falafel kebab served here is probably the best I've ever had in London. The restaurant is really friendly, with excellent smiling service. There is usually a fair few people in here, even in the early hours of the morning. It's easy to forget you're in the middle of London once you take a seat inside Bingol. The barbecued fish, usually bream or salmon is amazing, tasty and fresh; even the fish on display look like they're about to talk to you, they're that fresh. The calamari was superb and the taramosalata one of the best I've had. With such quality food on offer, very reasonable pricing and the ability to get a seat at any time of the day (bingol is open twenty four hours), there is very little reason not to visit this little Green Lanes gem.

So, when our dinner plans fell through one night we decided to wander over to the station and find it. It turns out there are several kebab shops...so we tried this one as it looked the most authentic and least greasy. My boyfriend and I tried the lamb and chicken shish kebabs, which come wrapped in gooorgeous soft Turkish bread. I can't remember or pronounce any of the names of the dishes, but my brother's girlfriend tried the lamb and aubergine dish, which looked lovely (and came with a huge pile of rice, bread and salad!) My little bro' wanted the döner kebab, and he said it was the best he had tried for ages. I had a peek at the main menu...and am now really keen to come back, as long as I can work out how to pronounce things! *They had some naturally gluten free and vegetarian options as well.

Kusadasi may be overlooked as a standard kebab shop at first, but it is far far more, boasting a huge menu filled with delicious food. The kebab and rice dishes are all great, served with a really nice sauce. My personal favourite are the wraps, which are enormous, packed with meat and veg - all of which tastes fantastic. A lovely open terrace giving you a fresh breeze from outside and allowing you to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Upper Street. Staff were friendly, aloof at times and not very proactive but at least food was delivered quickly and smoothly Cigar borek A great start to the evening. The pastry tasted fresh, crispy on the outside before reaching the inner more delicate softer layers. Filling was perfectly balanced with lovely aromas coming from the parsley and herbs against the minced lamb. Pine nuts were a great addition adding a bit of crunch to the texture Lamb kofte Very flavourful, packed with herbs and onions giving it that complexity and depth to boost the flavour of the lamb. It was cooked to medium but still very dry creating a very firm and coarse texture rather being succulent and bouncy like I had hoped for. Luckily it tasted good. Dolma Not a very generous portion priced at £4.95 but it was very well made. The varied filling of pine kernels, soft cooked rice and currants gave it a wonderful bite as well as a lovely pleasant sweetness from the currants Aubergine salad This was refreshing with lovely silky bouncy textures from the finely chopped aubergine and accentuated by a spoonful of yogurt. Although smoked, the flavours were not as pronounced as other places I've had this dish, lacking depth. But I still enjoyed it never the less especially after all the fried starters. Turkish ravioli I like most things doughy and in sauce so I was probably more enjoyable for me. However I was still able to tell that the dough was too thick and the filling was scarce meaning not much flavour was coming from the dumplings themselves but instead from the lovely light and zesty tomato sauce around it. It is was suppose to be mandu then it was far off from being authentic. Islim kebab A very impressive dish although on the small side with only four chunks of meat. However the meat was succulent with good bits of fat to marbleise the meat making each piece very tender and flavoursome. The aubergine complemented it further with it's silky soft textures, keeping every bite moist. That lovely rich herby tomato sauce helped boost the flavour giving the dish the depth it needs to make it so worthy of ordering Aubergine rice Such a comforting dish with the tomato and aubergines giving the rice that lovely zesty umami sweetness that made it so satisfying to eat. The starch in the rice made it much like a paella and with most of the water evaporated and with everything becoming sticky and wet, the flavours concentrated to create an intensified flavoured dish. Turkish dessert plate Wished the menu was more specific and it was slightly disappointing. The title in the menu suggested something authentic but one of the pieces was a chocolate brownie which was just average. The other was a baklava and a Kazandibi (upside down burnt milk pudding) which were lovely, especially the baklava which was tasted fresh from it's crispy pastry even when it was covered in syrup. It had an indulgent sweet nuttiness to it too. The ice cream was very welcomed, a surprising cinnamon flavour which added a sweet spiced taste to the desserts we had it with. Kazandibi If they informed us that this was also part of the dessert plate then we wouldn't have ordered a separate dish. We ended up having four pieces of these. They were lovely, almost like the egg custard of a Portuguese egg tart with a top layer of slightly burnt milk giving it that slight smoky flavour as well as the bouncy velvety texture it had. Pasha is definitely trying to steer away from the typical standard Turkish restaurant that we associate with being cheap and cheerful with large portions and complimentary starters. Even it's decor is more classier with the fancy lamp shades and vivid decorated felt wall. However food is only bordering between average to good and still falling behind in flavour compared to restaurants in the Stoke Newington area which dishes up the same dishes at a more generous portion and a much richer flavour. Still I was very pleased with the meal I had. Everything was seasoned well and presented nicely only I wish there was more of it. Probably a place to go if you're on a date.
