I come from a history of physical and verbal abuse. My go to response was to freeze when…read moreconfronted. I would avoid even needed confrontation because I wasn't comfortable with anger being directed at me. If someone was physically aggressive, I did not know how to respond so I would freeze. I can confidently say that I now know how to respond if I am ever in a situation where I need to handle someone who is angry or aggressive. Between the training classes and the seminars, I have found my voice. I have learned appropriate ways to diffuse someone's anger or aggression. I no longer freeze when approached in an aggressive manner. I feel confident that I would have a fighting chance were I ever attacked. I can use verbals to draw attention to my situation. I have learned practical street fighting skills that could protect me or my loved ones. I understand what to do if there is a deadly weapon being used on me or near me. While I hope I never have to use the skills I am learning, I am grateful that I have been trained now. I also know that I carry myself with a sense of confidence that could very well dissuade an attacker. Thank you to everyone at REACT for the patience and understanding you have demonstrated since I joined in 2016. I cannot thank you enough.

The pink gloves for the good cause is what sold me! Everyone is soooo welcoming. From the moment you step inside, to the classes, and workouts. If you have never done kickboxing no worries. They provide modifications and step by step teaching which is helpful. What I love most about their classes is that you start with a quick warmup, which could range from light jogging, to squats, to burpees (yuck lol). From there you do some stretching to get you loosened up, and then the main event is the boxing and kicking where you can really blow some steam! Lastly you get some partner practice with others in class and more stretching. You get a nice variety which is what I really loved. Only downside is the pricing. They only offer 7 or 12 month memberships. I really liked the environment but I hope they'll consider shorter memberships in the future. They do have class by class pricing though as an option.

Karate dave is a kid whisperer! Heck he's a people whisperer, the kids and parents can't help but hang on every word and direction he gives. He's stern but fun and he "sees" each kid, and the kids recognize that. He makes connections with them that come so natural to him. You can tell that he is all about the kids. I love listening to my kids being taught integrity, responsibility and self control. I currently have 3 kids enrolled and we are going on 2 months loving it! There are tables for parents to sit at, or chairs around whole mat. They welcome parents to help kids or hold up sparring mits for kids. There's an area with a fish tank, books and little chairs for siblings who may need to be kept busy and I believe they have a playground out their back door too :)
