My grandson has been a member of Glendale Taekwondo since he turned 4.  He became interested because of watching episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We wanted to act on his interest and couldn't be more pleased with our decision to enroll him. I read many reviews of various Taekwondo academies. I asked friends with same age children if they knew of any academies enrolling young children and didn't get any positive feedback.  I happened upon a Groupon offer for Glendale Taekwondo and researched reviews on their studio. Although the studio is a little out of the way for us, this one seemed to fit what I was looking for. I was looking for a kid friendly, patient, exciting, fun, focused, welcoming group of instructors. We hit the lotto with Glendale Taekwondo. No doubt.  My grandson has been enrolled since Sept 1, 2017 and is still going strong. He started as a Tiger Cub and earned all 7 belts white through black. He currently is in the juniordivision as a yellow belt. Since being a member:  1. he has confidence to protect himself should the need arise  2. he focuses on respecting others  3. he respects adults he comes in contact with 4. he keeps his hands to himself at school  5. he is learning to manage his time and keep a calendar for all of his sports, homework, and extras that we do 6. he knows that every stripe and belt he receives is earned through his focus and hard work 7. he feels empowered to make goals, reach them, and continue to make new goals If you are looking for a wholesome atmosphere for your kid(s), this is the place. The parents are all pretty awesome too. ;-)  Tytus read more

I can't think of a better place for martial arts than Glendale Taekwondo Academy. The focus of this studio is 100% on the growth of its students (youth, adults and everyone in between) and of its instructors. They have a tremendous 15 step black belt program that helps each student grow as a martial artist and as a person. All of the staff/instructors know each students name and exude the tenets of Tiger-Rock Taekwondo - Honor, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, courage, community strength, humility, and knowledge. As part of that, Glendale Taekwondo has given back to student's school teachers and has an incredible Board Break-A-Thon that helps raise money for the Phoenix Children's hospital. It's been about 1 1/2 years and my son is well on his way to his black belt and is really passionate about Taekwondo thanks to everyone at Glendale Taekwondo Academy. if you're looking for a great place for yourself or your children to grow as a person as well as learn Taekwondo and make friends, I would recommend this location for you. read more

Great place to watch your kids grow not just in height and physical strength but also in self control, humility, amd respect for themselves and others. One of the reasons we decided to enroll our son in this, was because he needed a little of self confidence. Not only has this helped him be more sure about himself but has also helped him try out new things he would of never thought of trying out, one good example is, competing in a National Tournament where he was able have fun and even win 3 medals! This is a great place to bring your child to learn, make new friends and have great instructors that take their time to teach them self defense, and even talk to them about life leasons. I can't thank the instructors enough for helping our son out when he had a bullying problem at school, they took time out of their personal life to help him feel better, and to assure him they are there for him. This is something a parent will never forget and we will for ever be grateful. Thank you Tiger Rock!!! read more

I enrolled my son into taekwondo with the intentions of him learning self defense. It's now going on 4 years that we've been with Glendale Taekwondo Academy and my son has learn much more than just self defense. All of the instructors are amazing with all of their students. And now during this pandemic we have now adapted to virtual classes through zoom. The virtual classes are just like being at the academy. The instructors are very engaged in every class they teach. This academy allows for your student to attend 6 classes a week. Most academy's allow only 8 classes a month when Tiger Rock allows up to 24 classes for the same price as 8 classes somewhere else. During the summer breaks they also created a summer camp that consisted in weapons training and nerf wars. This has been the best decision Ive made for my son and his future. read more

Glendale TaeKwonDo Academy is an excellent martial arts program for new and experienced individuals. The energetic atmosphere is fast-paced, challenging, and highly instructional. Class sizes vary, and there are more than enough instructors and senior black belts to provide the proper instruction throughout the class. All of the instructors are led by Master Micah Rigdon (owner) who has dedicated the last 10+ years to the students of Glendale TaeKwonDo Academy and the community as a whole. All of the instructors drive the core values and training required to exceed your goals. I have attended classes at Glendale TaeKwonDo off and on for over ten years and I can say that the training is consistently challenging, both physically and mentally. I look forward to attending class each week. read more

My son has been training for about 6 years now, and my daughter joined as well and has been training for about 2 years now. They both like it a lot. One might think nothing much fun in taekwondo, but instructors really make classes fun and enjoyable for kids at the same time also pushing them to become better martial artists. You can tell that instructors themselves are passionate about training and teaching. Kids get to learn also about tenets of taekwondo and are encouraged to follow them. Glendale Taekwondo Academy as one big family (instructors and students) has raised money for Phoenix Children's Hospital and participated in other charity events teaching kids to care about the community. read more

When I first brought my son to Glendale Taekwondo Academy, he literally cried in the lobby, not wanting to try it. Now, just 6 months later, he is so passionate about martial arts. In just 6 months, he has advanced to a Green Belt, competed in his first tournament and won 3 medals!! He is set to advance to a Blue Belt by the end of June. I owe his newfound confidence and passion to the amazing instructors. Their patience, understanding and commitment sets a strong example for the students. I couldn't be more happy with our experience thus far and I look forward to the future growth of my son in his martial arts career! Our son Andrew age 6, has been going here for a 4-5 months and he loves it. We love how they really train the kids. The whole staff is absolutely amazing. They test the kids in order for them to move up in belts, if they dont pass they dont move up. I believe this is the only way to learn marital arts, because they make sure they know the moves 100%. We got him a few one on one classes and it has made such a difference. They are SO good with the little kids. They focus on positive reinforcement and the kids thrive because of it. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS AND GALS FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE AND ACTUALLY CARING YOU ALL ROCK!!! read more

This organization is a bright light in our community. Not only has my son learned more about important virtues such as discipline and integrity, but he has also seen the value in giving to the less fortunate and serving others through various fundraisers for Phoenix Children's Hospital. The classes are well run, with experienced instructors. I have seen the difficulty of each level progress and push my son to better himself, physically and mentally. I would encourage all parents to enroll their children, or themselves! Who couldn't benefit from a whole body and mind workout? read more

All of the instructors are incredible and find a way to know each student and help them through any struggles they may be having in class, and celebrating their accomplishments. My son started at the Glendale Taekwondo Academy and has been the best experience for him. He was shy when he started, and he has grown in maturity with focus and determination. The instructors make it a point to know all the kids names from day 1 that they start.
