Mexico Weekend Gem Right after crossing the border, this spot is tucked inside a plaza with paid parking (staff at the meter and visible security -- love that!). The staff here are beyond sweet -- so welcoming and helpful from start to finish. It's an all-vegan restaurant, and honestly, the food was incredible -- even the drinks were on point. One of my go to spots whenever I'm in TJ. Food: I had the cauliflower wings which were very tasty and flavorful. The portion was big enough to fill me up by itself 5/5. The vegan pozole is delicious and flavorful. It is a little lacking in the variety though as it only has corn & mushrooms. I still love it though 5/5. The place is small but very cute, I love the decor! The service was fantastic considering how busy they were so many people doing take out orders! It was just ok, nothing to rave about :/. We ordered House salad, not pictured Mix of cous cous with chickpeas and beans, fresh salad, lemon dressing. Romaine lettuce served as a base, it wasn't chopped up at all - literal spears made it a bit difficult to eat. The couscous was ok, the lemon dressing wasn't ok. It was oily and bland. Tostada de cueritos (pictured) Pickled sweet potato, black beans, lettuce and chipotle vegan mayo. The sweet potato had the consistency of cueritos but not pickled at all - there was no flavor. Tacos de Marlin (pictured) Fried corn tortilla filled with "marlin"soy with vegetables, chipotle vegan mayo and purple cabbage. They soy had an odd consistency, mushy texture was terrible. Bland, flavorless, not even salt saved them! Skip this place, plenty of other vegan restaurants in TJ with sabor y sazón!! read more

Second time here and definitely have had great experiences. This time I started off with the sopa (tomato based) and it totally reminded me of sopa tarasca. Delicious. I loved the carrot and cucumber coin with ranch served with the cauliflower bites. Burger was crunchy and the bun was fluffy. Seems to be a good place to hang with friends, maybe even take a date. First time ever in TJ and my boyfriend found this vegan spot. They're in a plaza type building with plenty of parking that you have to pay for during certain hours. Place is small but well laid out. Server seemed new as he was a little slow, but maybe that's just how service is in TJ? Food was delicious honestly. No complaints at all. They also had some really good kombucha and fresh juice available that we tried and loved! Everything was flavorful and fresh. Also the prices? Night and day from San Diego lol. We had an appetizer, shared 2 meals, had 2 drinks, and dessert for $33 USD! We had leftovers, so this was more than worth the price. Amazing place. Def recommend to anyone! read more

So thrilled that they have kombucha! And that they have recycled paper bags for the tortillas. Although I don't know why they don't just serve them on a plate! That would be much more eco-friendly. Unfortunately, I think I misordered. The mushrooms were not cooked in the avocado Agua Chile that I got, and I don't think a cold dinner was really what I needed at the time. The Sopa de de Jarrito is my favorite appetizer, not only is it super tasty, but the waiter usually pours the achiote broth in front of you, making it an even more fun experience Some of my favorite dishes are: -Torta ahogada (I only wish it came with fresh veggies or a bit more crunch, but maybe it is not expected because of the nature of the dish) - Ceviche de coliflor (yum, vegan worcestershire sauce!) - Huarache de "carnitas" Aaaand for desert it's a must to get their vegan donuts from el burro rayado along with a house-made café de olla! It's expensive for Mexican eats. The most delicious vegan food, our experience with the service was horrific. It's a 50/50. Foods amazing though! The burger was my favorite, the chips were very very crispy and perfect. The burger was quinoa and lentils. My mom and my husband finally agreed to come here and they loved it even though my mom is not vegan she was amazed by the "molesa in mole" and loved the place so much that we'll be coming back before she leaves TJ. I had the "carbon burger" and my husband had the classic burger all were delicious. Including our entré "tabla de setas". Definitely a place to impress meat eaters and non believers. Their dishes are nutritionally well balanced and the atmosphere is very enjoyable. Last but not least the staff is super friendly and attentive.
