Started out great with promises to be completed in 6-8 weeks. A down payment check on January 6th got the ball rolling. After multiple phone calls and a couple remeasures, we finally got the base cabinets installed on April 5th. Some were wrong and had to be redone. Things are still wrong with some of bases. On April 14th, Don asked for another check to get the doors ordered. Being patient kind people, we obliged. By now, we were getting anxious as we are having a huge double graduation party here in June. Several meetings were canceled. A text that his son was injured in line of duty and he had to fly out to CA. Again, being kind people we sympathized & prayed for his son. After about a week, we checked in via text as to status. He said he'd be another week. A repeat again the next week. Finally, he was back in town- another meeting canceled. He texted to say the doors he ordered were cracked and he'd have to reorder - didn't know how long it would take to reorder. On May 22nd, my husband called and calmly gave Don a piece of his mind!! We set up yet another meeting the next evening. Again canceled. Received a text on May 24th that "due to funding & resources, he was removing himself from our job"!! We still have no cabinet doors, drawer covers, crown molding, trim edging or doors with installed shelves, hooks in laundry room & a closet door. He feels our job is 80% complete and doesn't owe us a refund!! We are not bad people but we have contacted our lawyer.

They treated my house like a public facility--using my personal toiletries, towels, and bathrooms without permission. I did not appreciate that no one was told to STAY IN THEIR CAR. How many onlookers does your staff need in an inspection??? I did not appreciate the said unwanted family members scraping their boots on the sidewalk before entering MY CLEAN HOME as if the home was already theirs and they could come and go as they pleased. They were obviously not helping the inspector with anything, they were just at my home to relax and invade my privacy. Most alarmingly, I discovered at 7:00 PM that my refrigerator/freezer had been shut off at the breaker. This level of carelessness could have resulted in significant property damage / food loss. When I was finally able to read the end result inspection list to my home buyers, it was noted that 2 breakers in the kitchen were not working, The inspector, Mark, shut the BREAKER OFF TO THE WHOLE KITCHEN, then requested that a licensed electrician come and fix them. I AM AN ELECTRICIAN. Wow ! Is this how you drive away home buyers ??? With stupidity? I am a licensed IBEW electrician. Would I honestly live here 11 yrs with broken outlets ??? I was there with him during the inspection and there was no second person. He also missed a hole in our roof that our electrician saw straight away and missed mold in our bathroom. Also, not professional. He constantly talked over me on the phone as if I didn't know what I was talking about. When I asked him to stop and let me speak, he continued to cut me off. Please use literally any other home inspector. Hickory Home Inspection is not thorough, deceptive, and their agreement will have you with legally no options.
