Subpar, lukewarm cookies and melted ice cream, super looong delivery time! I was so excited to order Insomnia Cookies during the gut-wrenching elections with an ETA 30-45 min - it took over 75 min! Sadly, the cookies were tepid and didn't have the ooegy gooey texture that I was hoping for as advertised on the site. While I'm sure the cookies were pipping hot when they were baked and placed in the cardboard box, all the heat was lost in the 20 min lag time of contacting a driver and an additional 20 min from a previous stopover. The cookies taste like cheap grocery store cookies from Safeway/Giant (Wegman's Bakery is the best!). The Deluxe ginormous S'mores and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup cookies missed the mark. I wish there were more peanut butter chunks spread throughout the cookie rather than just the top. The marshmallow, graham cracker, and double chocolate chip cookie didn't blend that well together and wasn't like S'mores. The pint of ice cream was placed sideways in a brown bag and started melting. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't an ice pack to keep the ice cream cold. It was a lackluster experience as the quality of the cookies and supply chain needs some work. If you're craving cookies, just throw some cookie dough in the freezer. OMG, these cookies were so delicious. I can't believe I'd never heard of this place despite living five minutes away. I originally stopped in to grab a few 6-pack boxes as thank-you gifts for my neighbors. I ordered a mix of cookies and brownies, all made warm and fresh on the spot. Since it was my first visit, the employee was really helpful while I figured out what to get. Then one neighbor wasn't home, which meant I shamelessly ate the box that had been intended for them. And honestly? No regrets. Even hours later, the cookies and brownies were still somehow warm, and they were so good my mouth is watering just thinking about them now. Eventually, my conscience kicked in and I went back to buy a replacement box for the neighbor. Order was restored to the universe. I had a family bring me cookies to parent teacher conferences and this was honestly the best highlight ever! They brought me a dozen warm fresh cookies and I shared them, and every single teachers face lit up! Insomnia cookies are so big and warm and so mouth-watering GOOOOD! I was super excited that they finally opened an Insomnia Cookies near me! I used to go all the time down in Blacksburg or in Georgetown but finally there was one less than 15 mins from me. To start off -- the service here is amazing! Even when they're in a food rush the staff is always so nice and makes sure that the order is always correct. Off to the food review! They have a variety of cookie options with new specials every season(?) My favorite is the oatmeal cookie and also the vegan chocolate chip. The cookies also go really well with their ice creams. They have an option to do a cookie sandwich but I like getting my ice cream on the side since I hate when the ice cream falls out when I bite into it. The cute shop hidden in the back side of university mall. Plenty of parking and open late. The deluxe cookies are a great treat! We got a four pack, and even two days later, they were still soft! I love their variety of flavors with my favorite being the s'mores. My son loves the funfetti and the triple chocolate chip. The last time I saw an Insomnia Cookies was in New York! What a nice surprise to see one that is now local in NOVA! Strategic that they placed it right by the GMU campus too. Stopped by on a Sunday around noon. It wasn't busy at all. Got a box of 12 cookies plus one extra free cookie for National Cookie Day! At about $2 a cookie, these were good. Maybe a tad bit overpriced because of their size, but I think it might be because of inflation. Regardless, I prefer these over Crumbl cookies. Tasty cookies! I just wish they warmed up the cookies, or if that is an option, they didn't tell me. The peanut butter cup cookie had large chunks of Reese's cups that were delicious, but the center felt a bit undercooked. The white chocolate was my favorite and still soft and chewy despite not being warmed up. My least favorite was the chocolate chunk cookie because it tasted a bit burnt and was kind of hard. Service was quite slow and the cookies are not worth waiting in line for if you want a quick late-night snack. It's a small store, so long lines can make the entrance cramped. (a nice gentleman...) who works during the weekday mornings/afternoons are so friendly, which makes the cookie purchasing experience extra positive! Their cookies are taken out of the warmer for each customer, so you are always guaranteed for warm cookies. I love how they package them in a box so that the cookies stay in tact, and not get crushed or squished during transit. Side Note: 1. The shop is located at the back of the shopping center, so don't look for it up in the front area. There are plenty of parking spaces available. 2. They close really late...1am most days except during the weekends where they close at 3am. 3. The more cookies you buy, the cheaper it will be due to a slight discount. Found out they opened one of these a few weeks back so when we were grabbing dinner nearby, we decided to visit for a treat. Parking can be rough depending on the time of day and since its near GMU it can be a little busy (like when we went on Friday at 8PM). We decided to grab a Big Dipper with Icing. We chose the Chocolate Chunk, Double Chocolate Chunk, Peanut Butter Chip, Snickerdoodle (they were out of macadamia), and the Cream Cheese Icing. It seemed like the cashier wasn't sure what the Big Dipper was because she instead charged us for each item separately (the Big Dipper was cheaper). The cookies itself were solid. They were all warm and soft, gooey (when they had something inside). The icing, not really necessary in my opinion, but it was nice to have. Literally couldn't fall asleep and hadn't eaten since around 6 pm....so I decided to take a drive out on a quiet still night after a day of record-breaking heat. Circled through University Mall parking lot, and there was Insomnia Cookies, glowing like a full moon! I dropped in for a birthday party sprinkled warm sugar cookie with a side of simple vanilla ice cream and it was a delight-- service fast, cookie warm and delish, ice cream cold and creamy. By the time I left, there was a crowd of about 8 people from all walks of life in queue for their treats. Honestly, I think we were all drawn there by a sugar force beyond our control. This location doesn't offer much seating, it's more of a pick up and go spot but it's conveniently located across from GMU and other great food spots in the plaza. It's located behind the plaza when you turn into it from the street, so be sure to check out the other cool spots nearby while you grab your cookies! Some of my favorite cookie flavors are: white chocolate macadamia, double chocolate mint, chocolate chunk, and oatmeal chocolate walnut! They are still in the soft opening phase so take it easy on them as they are still getting things all set up.
