The shop was clean and inviting, and overall the experience was as comfortable as it could be! The artist says he does a lot of Scottish-themed tattoos for tourists (not pictured- we also got Loch Ness monsters lol) and he was very friendly about it (didn't make us feel like dumb tourists ) so I would suggest swinging in if you're traveling and looking for tattoo to symbolize your trip! The studio is a hip place, far more hip than a grannie with a walker would normally go to, however everyone was friendly. I loved the entryway into the working part of the studio, felt like I was in Narnia. Erik is amazing, we talked and he freehand drew the thistle I wanted on my bicep. He had the tattoo done in 2 hours. My old thin skin bruises easily so the picture looks like Erik is rough. He isn't. He has a very gentle hand-though we both thought the bruising looked like part of the tattoo. I'd planned for 3 but didn't feel rushed. If I'm ever in Edinburgh again I'd go back for a full sleeve.

He came back saying that a lady he spoke to gave me an appointment for the 12th November 2025. I saved the money, & went in on the 12th. I finally got the vampire bite marks that I'd wanted since I was 16 years old & 18 years old, but was put off from getting. The staff are friendly, the environment is welcoming & I felt at ease. The prices are perfectly reasonable & I like that they take appointments. I was given clear aftercare instructions & that was really helpful as some of the places where I've gotten previous tattoos hadn't made the aftercare instructions very clear at all. I cannot recommend Relatively Painless enough. I love the location as well, it's not far from Ocean Terminal, which is perfect if you're doing a bit of shopping before or after or if the person accompanying you needs something to do while waiting for your appointment to be finished. If Relatively Painless would be happy to have me back, I'd love to go back whenever I wanted a new tattoo. I completely trust the staff & felt so at ease.
