I came to Edinburgh knowing the exact tattoo I wanted and already having another tattoo healing up on my extended trip of Europe and the UK. Earlier on I had been in Greece and gotten an amazing tattoo which spanned almost the entirety of my foot. It turned out amazingly and is my favourite of my tattoos. I came here to get some simple black script on my wrist and everything seemed to go wrong.
For starters, the people were not very welcoming at the shop. The woman at the front of shop was condescending and rude to both my friend and I when we came in for tattoos. My friend was looked down on when she asked for the placement to be changed of the stencil because it was crooked and they were rude to her for the rest of the time she was on the table.
When I initially went into the shop I had warned them about my severe nickel allergy. I have had three tattoos and know, very well, that most inks have nickel unless they are organic. The woman at the front desk shrugged off my question and assured me there was no nickel in the ink that would be used - thankfully, I took her blasé nature as it was and asked the tattoo artist once I had gotten in and made her do a thorough check. There WAS nickel in their ink and I believed that I wouldn't be able to get the tattoo at all until they found another organic ink.
It disturbs me that the artists did not know there was such a thing as metal in ink and it upsets me more that I had to ask multiple people, multiple times to check for me. When I went out, I decided to warn the woman at the front desk that there was nickel in their ink for future customer knowledge and not only did she shrug me off but she was rude about it and rolled her eyes at me.
I suggest not getting your tattoo here. The quality of my tattoo was not the greatest, they didn't listen to me, and they really didn't care about their customers. They were inconsiderate with considering health issues, they didn't listen about their stencils, and they were rude about anything you said to correct or try to help them.
This was my worst tattoo experience, by far. read more
