The shop was clean and inviting, and overall the experience was as comfortable as it could be! The artist says he does a lot of Scottish-themed tattoos for tourists (not pictured- we also got Loch Ness monsters lol) and he was very friendly about it (didn't make us feel like dumb tourists ) so I would suggest swinging in if you're traveling and looking for tattoo to symbolize your trip! The staff are all really chatty and make anyone who walk in feel like they belong. Chat is open to anyone listening and it's fun to chime in with things to add to conversation. My guy said where he was getting his tattoo done was quite chilly as well, but they had space heaters around to help keep him warm. I came here somewhat impulsively on a short trip to Scotland from the states. Unfortunately there was not enough time for my original tattoo plan - something fairly large and complex needs more than 24 hours notice for the artists to draw it up. However, I had a backup plan for a smaller, simpler piece that I already had an illustration for, and the folks at Tribal were able to fit me in. Rob did my tattoo and he did a great job - it looks lovely, was done quickly, and he was friendly and chatty while he did it. Put me at ease, as did the other folks in the shop. It's clean and they also have a nice selection of jewelry - both for body piercings and also necklaces, cuff links, etc. Price was reasonable as well. If I'm lucky enough to get back to this city, I'll try to set up an appointment here again - but with more notice ahead of time!

Hi Sandie, This…read morereview is not the same as eating a meal at a restaurant as I still have the tattoo on me as it is permanent, not something you eat then forget about days later, although I have now had it fixed by another artist. The reason I did not post a review sooner was because I didn't know what to think of the situation or how to deal with it correctly. I decided to leave it but recently decided that I wanted to share the experience I had at your studio, even if it was 3 years ago, which I did state that it was years ago so that anyone reading my review would know that this was not a recent occurrence. I am attaching a photo of the flash design and the tattoo I received so that you, and others can see the differences and possibly realise why I was, and am, unhappy with it. I specifically wanted this tattoo as I love tattoos with sketchy lines and shading. At the time of receiving my tattoo, I didn't want to be rude by directly comparing the tattoo to the flash image when checking it in the mirror. After this experience though I now know to do this even if it is rude so I can ensure a tattoo looks how it is meant to. I also felt uncomfortable in the studio due to yours and Noemi's argument, which I don't think shouting could be a passionate casual conversation. This day may not be in your memory, but it is still a strongly vivid memory for me. I remember your body language and tone. You must be misinterpreting any emails from me. At the time I received this tattoo, I already had another tattoo booked with a different artist at your studio. I went through with this appointment but have never inquired about another tattoo with Noemi, or at your studio. The tattoo you liked on my Instagram late last night was one done by Noemi at another studio called Studio XIII. I did not post the tattoo I received on this day as I was not happy with it. I did initially contact you saying that the tattoo was different but ultimately decided I did not want to return to your studio or be tattooed by Noemi again, even to fix the tattoo. I only returned once as I had an appointment already booked with another artist. Other artists I have spoken to and posted pictures by have always remained very professional and simply acknowledged that the situation at Watermelon tattoo shouldn't have happened. No artist suggested I leave a review or made negative comments as they are professionals. I stated the reasons why I have now left a review at the top of this update. At the time of my tattoo, I did not fully have a grasp of a tattoo artists responsibility for their client. I am an anxious person and after seeing the two of you argue, didn't wish to be a part of that in any way. I hope that you are both well and can see that your business is thriving, which is brilliant, and I hope this means you show the respect you expect from your customers to your customers. We had talked about where and what we would get and called ahead before our trip. They encouraged us to walk in to chat with them once we arrived so we did just that. The owner was so kind and funny, he took down all of our info and this was my first tattoo although my husband has an entire sleeve but he put my mind at ease letting me know I'd be with John who has a light hand and is quick. I really appreciated that because I was extremely anxious, he offered to tattoo us that same day but because of my nerves and empty stomach we decided to wait until their next availability. He gave me tips to eat a big meal and bring some candy and sugary drinks so I would have the best experience. Finally the day arrived and I was so anxious but another employee noticed and put my mind at ease letting me know John had many years of experience and they both were very friendly and reassuring. John explained everything to me and then got started and it was over before I knew it! It truly wasn't as painful as I was expecting and I absolutely love my tattoo! I did a small trinity knot on the back of my right arm near my wrist with double lines and he had me laughing through the entire process, asking me about our trip and then let me know how to care for it. I would not trade my first tattoo experience for anything, John and the rest of the team were all so friendly and empathetic and even shared recommendations with us for things to do in Edinburgh - this is the only tattoo shop you can walk into and schedule an appointment the others in the area make you book months in advance - go with Bizarre Ink they are the best!
