My experience is only based on my 4 year olds birthday party…read more We recieved a flyer in the mail and my daughter said "I want my birthday here and I want my whole class to come (21 kids)" Plus she has friends from outside of class. So I looked into it and it seemed reasonable. 2 instructors, 2 hour 15 min party, pizza, juice, paper products all included. The kids would bounce on two seprate inflatabes and play several games. It sounds great! Pros: the kids had a fun time. Cons: There were 30 kids there and only one instructor showed up. The pizza took forever. The kids were given fruit punch in open cups and juice was flying everywhere. Hello? juice boxes!!!! It was a huge mess. Then to top it off...the kids were given a "goodie" bag with a bunch of promotional flyers in it with an inflatable soccer ball. I was told they would get the beach ball (which is great), but my daughter's party was not a promotional event for their buisness. I found it really tacky. The girl that ran the party was clearly overwhelmed to be in charge of a group of 30 kids and their parents. It was underwhelming to pay $250 for a poorly run party. We will NOT be back anytime soon. : - ( My advice: go to My Gym in Framingham or The Little Gym in Westborough or Pump it Up in Shrewsbury. We went to parties there that were much better.

It's fine that it was for beginners, but I do not appreciate not being told the whole truth. Volleyball was played on indoor grass made for indoor soccer, which by no means makes it suitable for a competitive player. The net was very loose and made it difficult to play on. Worst of all, was teams constantly forfeited so there weren't many games we played. Wish I could have my money back and that it was handled differently.

Garbage of a town center. Makes perfect sense. Wayland may be rich. But take a closer look and its…read morea town full of Karens, male and female. Taxes are through the fucking roof. City services are slow because all the residents that work in government capacity are so damn well fed they waddle around. Epitome of what living in the lap of luxury produces. A fat bloated bureaucracy that's gets shit done at a snails pace. This town center belongs somewhere in Malden, Everett, or Somerville where the population can support a monstrosity of this size. Im guessing there was a shitload of chrony capitalism that was in play during development.

As a resident of Wayland, I've lived through the nightmarish development process for this mall…read more I've watched the developers back out of promises (affordable housing, deeded green space to the town focus on local small business). I've paid the price, through my taxes, while the developer sued the town. I will pay the price when Whole Foods moves out of town. So I admit that I start with a sour taste in my mouth. The reality is - this monstrosity has been built. So I should frequent it. Otherwise it becomes another abandoned shopping plaza. Which will blight our town and further increase my taxes. I finally have figured out why I don't frequent this place. It's because there is no where to go there. There are so many stop and shops, Panera, Bertuccis's, liquor stores, subway, Joe banks around. Most are bigger, better and closer to my house. I tried to do my last minute Christmas shopping- but the store choice is limited. What can you buy a 3 year old at Joe banks, ace hardware or a mattress store? Considering half of Wayland is closer to the golden triangle, and the other half is equidistant to try 20 Sudbury- I don't know the purpose of this half arsed mall of miniature versions of ubiquitous chain stores.

I figure, if I have to pay the fee anyway I may as well give the place a shot. The Rec Center has a large pool, an indoor track, weight room on the first floor, cardio room on the second. There is also an area right when you walk in where you can sit and study. The cardio area is nice because it has really large windows that let light in. It can get hot if you're in the sunlight for too long, but if you mention it the staff can lower some automatic blinds. The shower/ locker room is clean enough. The initial activation process was a hassle because you have to sign an electronic waiver, but you can only access it after watching a safety video and the ric mobile site is pure trash and does not load properly. The woman working the front desk was nice enough to let me use her work computer to complete the process. All in all the whole place is adequate and if your a student at RIC that wants to work out you should use this space.

This is the part of campus that is done right…read more For all the things we complain about at RIC, the Recreation Center is the one that will get the most praise. It's a beautiful, brand new facility that is clean and has a decent amount of equipment. To highlight key points: - Free weights go up to 100 lbs (in increments of 5 lbs) - 2 squat racks - 5 bench press stations (2 incline, 1 decline, and 2 flat bench) - Indoor pool and track field - Plenty of cardio machines upstairs - Decent amount of machines specific to muscle groups (ex: Lat pull down and seated chest press machines). - Clean locker rooms and bathrooms I only have two complaints. One would be the lack of attachments that go along with the jungle pulleys. There are no straight bars, row bars, or v-handles. That truly deters from having variety in a workout and in a away, takes away from a quality workout as well. Additionally, there aren't any unique machines here. It's pretty standard equipment and nothing out of the ordinary. Secondly, the hours of operation need more consistency. The gym is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM, yet every other day of the week (including Friday), they open at 7 AM? Weird. But, it's definitely worth your time to come here. The Rec Center fee per semester is reasonable, and it's such a convenience. I'd recommend this gym to any Rhode Island College student or faculty member, encouraging them to make use of it.
