From the very beginning, the communication was seamless and thoughtful. I was planning a multi-layered surprise -- my husband thought it was a quiet mountain getaway for just the two of us, but it turned into a full reunion with his five closest friends -- and the chef handled every detail with professionalism and care. The meal itself? Absolutely incredible. Every course was beautifully presented, perfectly timed, and full of flavor. You could taste the intention behind each dish. Our group couldn't stop talking about how good everything was -- from the appetizers to dessert. It felt like a five-star restaurant experience right in our mountain home. Beyond the food, what made the evening special was the atmosphere the chef created. Warm, relaxed, celebratory. He allowed us to focus fully on surprising and celebrating my husband while he took care of everything in the kitchen. If you're considering elevating a special occasion in Boone or the surrounding mountains, this is 100% worth it. It turned a great weekend into an unforgettable one. After a quick call I relaxed and realized I wouldn't even have to lift a finger. We had personalized menus with the listing for the evenings fare. We celebrated with champagne as we prepared for the food to be laid out. Raspberry almond salad topped with bacon that I couldn't get enough of. Garlic whipped potatoes which were just the right consistency to accompany the main course Creamy chicken Marsala that I had to get two helpings of because I couldn't get enough & I don't even like mushrooms. SN: Make sure you plan for an extra person just in case you want some to keep at home because I sure did Chef Jess is a great personal chef and I would recommend her to anyone who needs anything from a dinner to an entire experience planned.

After thoughtful planning, detailing menu, logistics and payment I learned less than 24 hours before the caterer wasn't prepared with the drinks she committed to in the contract and I had to quickly prioritize run to Walmart and purchase drinks at my own expense to make sure our teachers and support staff had drinks with their meal. Although that left me anxious for the event the following morning I remained optimistic that things would work out. And Jess Let It Simmer arrived in a beat up sedan with 1/3 of the boxed lunches promised and an anemic supply of agreed to vegetarian options - ultimately food for 75 or less after paying for a lunch for 250. Not only was the supply dreadfully short, it was not up to the standard expectations. Thanks to some responsive local pizzerias, we managed to salvage the luncheon at the expense of the PTSO this time, no thanks to Jess Let It Simmer. Although being very embarrassed and frustrated for putting my trust in Jess Let It Simmer, I appreciated the fact that within the next few days, she engaged the PTSO president and myself to apologize for the obvious disaster of an event and committed to make good in a future event. With recognition that we are all entitled to making mistakes, and given her taking accountability for her actions we agreed to consider ways to reconcile. And with that hedge toward forgiveness, we are again left disappointed as we have heard nothing back and had to accept this incredibly sub-optimal and expensive botched luncheon. While we want to be sympathetic to others situation it was important for any potential client to understand our experience and proceed into engagement with great caution!!!!

I gave…read moreher very little direction - that there were two vegetarians in the group, and that was it. She prepared a BEAUTIFUL meal of lemon pepper chicken (for the meat eaters) and veggie pasta salad for the vegetarians. The meal came in four courses: salad (she brought three dressings), entrée, dessert (cookies individually wrapped for each person), and fruit after our meal. She arrived 45 minutes before I did (I was flying in from Baltimore) to set up, and the table scape was beautiful. She brought her own linens, real ceramic dishes, glass glasses, etc. And on top of that, she served us throughout the meal. Basically, Kendra brought the four star dining experience of a restaurant to us (and on very short notice, I reiterate). She is capable of doing both small parties and larger functions such as weddings (up to 500 people). If you need catering in the Charlotte area, I highly highly highly recommend Kendra. You cannot go wrong.

My daughter (the future bride) planned her wedding reception with Chef Kendra of Kraving Catering. She often raved about Chef Kendra's help throughout the process: "She is wonderful to work with! Chef Kendra is such a big help! She gets right back to me! She has wonderful ideas!" I met Chef Kendra prior to the actual wedding. She and her crew were personable, prompt and professional. My daughter was thrilled with the delicious desserts, as were our guests. When Chef Kendra found out how our wedding cake baker bowed out at the last minute, she baked the bride and groom a special gluten-free wedding cake for them! (as a wedding gift to them) It was a wonderful relief to know we didn't have to think about tablecloths and table decorations; Kraving Catering provided them and they were lovely. They were a joy to work with; we highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.
