To learn to do a skateboard trick, how many times do you gotta get something wrong til you get it right? ...And you hurt yourself, and you learn to do that trick, now you got a life lesson. Every time I see those skateboard kids, I think 'those kids'll be alright.' " Against the advice of pretty much every one I know, I've taken up longboarding recently. Longboarding is skateboarding but with a longer board. Why would a middle aged man do such a thing? Well, how many overweight skateboarders have you seen? Exactly, and that's why I figured I needed to be doing it too. It works different muscles and to me it's more fun than just walking away the pounds. I think I'm hooked! I stopped in at Alta Vista Skateshop today after church to buy a multi tool and to perhaps grab a little skateboarding subculture. I had a nice chat with co-owner Paul and he educated me on the quality of my recent craigslist longboard purchase in addition to ringing me up on a skateboard multi tool. I appreciated the education as he was very patient with me. He really knows his stuff and I plan to return to buy more and better stuff. I really liked all his inventory and you can buy a complete skateboard or have one built from scratch. They have clothing to buy, helmets, stickers for representing your love of skateboarding and much more. I wish I'd taken up skateboarding much sooner but I was listening to others more than listening to myself. Lesson learned for me and it's never too late to begin something new. This place is great! Who did I see? A shop co-owner, a patron on their couch and me, a small business owner. Skateboarding is super fun and this place can get you set up proper. Support small business whenever you are able. #smallbusiness #smallbiz

I popped in and there was probably about 15 decks in the entire store and only two of the multiple display cases had product in them. There was a single rack of clothes on the wall and two free standing with sale items. It looked as thought they were doing a final close out push. On the bright side the guy working behind the counter was friendly and out going. We talked about Thrashers KOTR and watched some clips from this current KOTR tour and the vibe was good. I hope they kick it back into gear as locally owned is always better than chain shops pushing their agenda and sales figures...

Went to several bike shops and all they said was , it be better to just buy a new one. With all the parts that was rusty and old , I knew it can be brought to life. Well, I Went to Sun and Ski and met Mr Henry. Once he saw my bike, he simply said,"Nice One" I told him what I wanted to do and without hesitation he said it would be fun and a new challenge to bring my bike to life. Sun And SKI are very lucky to have Henry as one of their mechanics Tech because he's extremely knowledgeable sharp and well decorated with professional service. He always had me updated when the bike was almost done and did not try to sell me anything else that the bike needed. He was honest and only recommended what it may need later if I decide to keep the bike. With that said I added new wheels that made a major difference. Well many may say, I'm Exaggerating but the truth is, it's hard to find good customer service. Henry did just that, Good Customer Service is why I am writing this. Ask for him by name and I promise you, he will get your bike running! Oh and another thing!!!! This gentleman said" I Love What I do Felix !" Kindest regards, Felix

Because I stored it in my closet till I needed it, there was no warranty when the bed would not hold air at all. Bummer. A complete waste of money. I have also purchased some clothes at Dick's for the granddaughter. These are big-name sport lines, and they are fairly well made. No real complaints here. We also bought brand-name sport shoes for the granddaughter, and were not as satisfied with them. They never got comfortable for her. We buy miscellaneous sports stuff, too, like a pickle ball set, tennis rackets, tennis balls, bicycle, etc.; no problem with this type of thing, either. I will say, though, that if you're looking for a sturdy bike, you'd get a much better quality bike at a bike store. If I'm in the area, and I need the type of item that they carry, I will usually at least check to see if their products will fit the bill.
