However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.

They don't have a fancy website, or even a dedicated email address and texting system. Nor do they provide elaborate diagnostic spreadsheets to customers electronically. It's old school all the way. No frills. Dial their phone number, tell them your problem and drop-off your vehicle. They don't do appointments. Despite these 21st century shortcomings I've had nothing but positive experiences at Global and that's saying a lot considering the charlatans that exist in the auto repair industry. I've taken three cars there over the years and while there has always been a lengthy turn-around, I've never been nickeled and dimed with bill-bloating diagnostics or exorbitant shop supply fees. You bring it in, they give you a quote, they solve the issue and deliver the vehicle for the price agreed upon. I can't say enough good things about Global. I only wish they were closer.

I was able to get a SnapOn scan tool to reset it but it just wouldn't budge. Since I'm 40miles away from my mechanic and my own garage and tools with it being 114deg outside which is way too hot to work on, I figure I'd give them a call to get it towed there instead of driving back and forth or going through an expensive tow. Explained my situation and let them know I needed a reset on the CAS for the ELV counter but wasn't sure if that was reason why I couldn't get it to work. I was told it was $450 diagnostic because it was a "electrical" that would not applied to any repair. I ended up towing the car home and resetting the counter with proper cable and which took all but 5mins. They seem like a decent shop from reviews but based on my interaction it's not a place a would take my cars. A little bit of knowledge goes a long way. Although if I had no choice and no understanding I'd probably pick them over a dealership or non euro mechanic shop. There isn't really much choices in that area.
