We paid £65 for the two of us sharing a room which included a fried breakfast Some of our friends stayed in a chain hotel down the road and paid something closer to £100 per room not including breakfast. The owners were ever so polite, friendly and accommodating, even when my friend broke their shower! The room we stayed in was small, however this is wasn't a problem because we were only staying one night. They also appeared to have larger rooms which would accommodate someone staying for a longer period. The bedroom was immaculate, as was the rest of the house I think possibly they have very recently refurbished the bathroom and kitchen as they looked new. I had a lovely nights sleep, and although we got back to the B&B at 02.30 in the morning, the owners very kindly gave us a key to quietly let ourselves in. Overall a lovely, clean place in a quiet area that benefits from a personal touch that is sadly missing from larger places. Almost a shame that I have no more nights in Guildford planned!

The furniture was from the 1970s with a well worn, leatherette parker knoll chair, a stand alone shower cubicle stood against the wall and the TV was the smallest one ever seen. The general feel of the room suggested an air of a very unloved OAP who had been put out to pasture in the local nursing home some many years before. The single room, was located in an adjacent property, go figure! The room's main light fitting did not work so it was not possible to even see the bed and state of the room never mind view the TV or drinks facilities. The bathroom was shared and the kitchen looked like it had seen better days as well.

Surprisingly, this is one of just a few Guest Houses in Woking that offers temporary residency so…read moreis not just a lodge for visiting guests. The owner, Mr Tony Harrison has been a permanent feature of the guest house since he bought the property in the 1990s when the guest house used to be a boys home run by social services. There is considerable history to this Guest house given that it was built in Edwardian times with modern renovations being added throughout the 20th century. It is a three story building with an attic room at the very top. Prices vary according to room size, duration of stay as well as how many guests stay, so the prices are not affirmatively fixed. The rooms are not en-suite but the lodge has two main bathrooms with a constant supply of hot water and clean towels. Breakfast is served from 7.30am through to 9am and a full English is highly recommended, though there is also the option of cereal ad toast. The best feature of the Guest house is the location: directly opposite the South West rail line and bus and train terminal, less than a mile walk from the lodge, so is an ideal choice of stay for an overnight rest or temporary tourist. The least desirable trait of this lodge is that is frequented daily by other visitors that are friends of Mr Harrison, so can be quite an active place during the day with Police coming to and from the building after they receive complaints of disturbance (at least whilst I was a tenant) and, because I still pass it myself every week, these activities don't appear to have altered very much within the past six years.
