Stayed April 2015, traveled with friends: "The hotel could do with an update or sprucing up."
We were both eagerly excited to stay at this establishment, because it was going to be our first time eating at a Toby Carver. For those of you who do not know what at Toby Carver is, it reminded me of a buffet Boston Market or Kenny Roger's. When I found this hotel, I looked up the restaurant/pub on their official website: http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/ Our hotel room was in the back of the restaurant, and we had a few small flights of stairs we had to go up to get to the room. The bathroom was small, and the shower was cramped, but doable. The sink was placed in the corner and the toilet was right next to the shower. It reminded me of a half bath in the United States. Upon opening the room door, there was an area to place your coats and jackets, along with your luggage. A coffee/tea station was next to it, and the wall ended with a good size desk. There was a window facing a side patio, looking upon the street. There was also a radiator in the room. The twin size beds were separated by a small end table. The room was modest with minimal décor. I had no issues with stickiness, mold, or any other unkemptness. When we arrived to the hotel/restaurant, it was during dinner rush - so I expected a small wait to be checked in - but the staff was courteous and gave proper directions to the rooms. It is very close to LEGOLAND and Windsor Castle. read more
