I went to the Life Skills Workshop led by Amona Buechler. It seemed strange at first and I was a little uncomfortable with the unusual exercises. What would people think of me? But I gave it 100 % anyway. Sure enough I felt weird about the whole thing the next day. Now its a little over a week later, and I feel fine. I am lighter and feel nicely connected to my center. Its like I have a little more peace of mind, and a little more of my own power. I have been going to the morning meditations, and sometimes (like this morning) I go in with thick negativity, and come out laughing and ready to allow life to happen again.
This is no small thing for an alcoholic diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and major depression. I have never met anyone like Amona. She just never gives up on anyone. It feels good to be around her for me, even though it feels like a challenge at the same time. Meditation is the last place I would have looked for the coolest chick and the wildest times, but thats where I found them. And then she looks at you with this expression of being open and vulnerable and terrified and thrilled all at the same time and says, "Are you ready for lifesurfing?" I will say one thing for sure, there were no more dead ends once I walked into the IMU. read more
