We had such a wonderful time at this beautiful detail oriented bed and breakfast, we look forward to returning. Our room was exceptional and spacious, all the details were placed with exquisite taste. If you are looking for a cultured and historical bed and breakfast this is the place. The care that was put into this place shows and not only with the appearance but with the personal touch and customer service. In the morning our breakfast was gourmet and the presentation was astonishing. Everything from the details on the China to the details in the service were excellent.

If there is one word to describe this place it would be impeccable. Every inch of this place has been taken care of. A beautiful historic inn where every detail is perfect. The furniture, the decor, the finish is absolutely beautiful. If you like the small old inn experience this is one you will remember forever. Great location right in the heart of Exeter with shops and restaurants all around it. Connected to the inn is Otis, one of the best small restaurants anywhere on the seacoast. A dining experience at a great value too.

So I was pleasantly surprised by how awesome Around the Corner is. The proprietors, Rita and Peter, really make everyone feel at home. They introduce guests to each other and create an atmosphere where it's actually a pleasure to meet the other people staying there. I have dietary restrictions that Rita (the breakfast chef) was able to gracefully accommodate. The rooms are beautiful, with lots of detail, and plenty of books to borrow while you're there. Very peaceful and quiet at night. Each room has a window air conditioner/fan unit which helps keep the temp comfortable. I got to explore Exeter and the surrounding towns. Some highlights: the Fly By Cafe (downtown Exeter, has a UFO theme); Wallis Sands State Park, a peaceful beach; Folsom Tavern, where George Washington had a meal. I always felt comfortable asking for recommendations or sharing my thoughts on what I'd seen with the proprietors and other guests. Very un-snobby place. A couple quirks: The parking situation is pretty crowded and that can get stressful if the B&B is full. Also, be aware that some of the bathrooms are shared--be sure to check in advance if having your own bath is important to you. Overall, such a lovely and fun place to spend a few days!

Rooms are on the small side, and you definitely feel like you're in an old historic building; however, the beds are comfortable, heating system is effective without being overly loud or breezy, and the bathrooms are nicely updated. Not much storage for clothes -- no chest of drawers, and the only shelves we could use were in the bathroom. Wi-fi is free but not superfast. There are adequate power outlets throughout the room (on the wall, and also as part of a lamp and an alarm clock). TV service is pretty basic; no premium movie channels or Chromecast ability. Keurig machines are standard, which are a nice touch. No fridge or safe. The lobby and lounge areas are beautiful, as is the attached restaurant, Epoch. Complimentary continental breakfast includes bagels (with a toaster), prepackaged waffles, cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee/tea, milk, and a few juices. Coffee was quite good. They routinely put out really good cookies in the afternoon. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The first time we stayed here, I felt that some kind of fragrance in the room was making my eyes feel very dry, so I spoke to the front desk ahead of our second stay. They assured me that they use fragrance-free detergent for the sheets, but housekeeping does spray air freshener, so I asked for that not to be done -- and I had no problem this time. Plenty of free parking on the street in front of the hotel, as well as a large lot in the back. 2 Tesla chargers and one ClipperCreek charger (with a J-1772 plug) are available for guests, but it's $25 per charge (presumably no matter how much electricity you use).

It was plenty of room for one person but two adults, might feel a bit cramped in the room I was given. A few improvements would easily bump this to a 5 star review. The pros include: - The limited staff were very friendly. - My king room was clean, comfy and quiet. - Parking and breakfast is free. - Great location to walk downtown area. The cons: - I booked my reservation (direct through Hyatt partnership) the day before arrival but upon check-in there were issues it eventually got sorted out. - Elevator is out of order as of mid-March. - Limited staff, so basement bar hours aren't exact. - Room TVs are smart, no cable, so they depend on Internet and my tv lost connection a few times. All in all, the charm of the building and the pros mentioned, far out weigh the few cons. If I ever return to Portsmouth, I'd gladly stay here again.

Hotel Portsmouth is no different, with a Stars and Stripes motif that is pervasive throughout the common areas of the hotel. Unfortunately, that charm of a historic building often comes at a cost, and the HVAC system and elevator are in need of maintenance. We were forewarned that the elevator was out of service - not an issue for us. However, our room temperature upon check-in was 76 degrees (in March). The mini-split, despite appearing modern, was inoperable, so we switched to a different room. Unfortunately, that room was equally warm and the in-wall air conditioner was very loud and blew dirt throughout the room. Aside from the temperature issues, the rooms were nice, beds were comfortable, and the continental breakfast spread was plentiful. Having parking included was a real plus, as we were able to leave our vehicle and walk to many of the nearby shops and restaurants.

A true, traditional, historic B and B can't be beat, and that is what Timber Post is! She dealt with my questions very helpfully over the phone before arriving, and then the moment I arrived. Vivian has every little beautiful or welcoming detail covered, and the place is immaculately clean. There are intriguing antiques and pictures everywhere to add to the ambiance. The breakfast is sumptuous, but despite all that work, she was kind enough to make me something I preferred. I stayed two nights, at the start and end of my road trip, in two different parts of her lodgings. Both were lovely. It's quiet, for a light sleeper like me, and also important for a woman traveling alone, I felt safe. Vivian even has done the genealogy on the Inn from its early years, and discovered she's descended from the some of the original owners! She said how the community there has been so kind to her. Now that's real sense of place. I highly recommend Timber Post for a true New England Bed and Breakfast experience, in rural Hollis. A delight.

Note: I deleted and reposted this, bc her response illegally posted some personally identifiable information. The response also showed the inability to internalize feedback, and misguided perspective on that feedback. Example: We SHOWED her the booking.com website where it clearly stated private bathroom in multiple places. I've added the photo to show that it said private bathroom, and yet she's insisting that it does not show this. This is how delusional she is.

Have stayed here about 4 times over the past few years visiting our children at summer camp. The owners, Janet and Doug, are wonderfully friendly and charming folks who I have really enjoyed getting to know. Their home is a lovely old farm house with a great deal of charm; lots of antiques, some low ceilings, creaky floors, antique locks on the doors, etc. The rooms are small, but comfortable. You'll find a few cob webs and a little dust, but this is a trifle. Janet makes a cooked-to-order breakfast often asking what you'd like the night before. She is an excellent cook. The best part of a visit to the Inn is the idyllic backyard (see photo) which is immaculately kept and is stunningly beautiful. It is quite relaxing and serene. Sit and listen to to the quiet. Once you sit down and take in the view, you do not want to move. There is also a screened-in porch for those wishing to avoid the sun and flying annoyances. The property also has access to a nearby pond which is a short walk via a path through the woods across the street. Canoeing and rowing is possible, or simply sit and take in the water view and others enjoying the lake. The Meadow Farm Bed and Breakfast is a lovely oasis.
