Have been with InMotion for ~10 years, and have only had nice things to say. Having referred many friends and associates to them over the years, it saddens me to write this review. However, they have really fallen to absolute trash levels. Firstly, I prioritized their higher end dedicated support, domestic dedicated support in the US. As a larger client their dedicated server support has been an excellent partner in my business, until 2023, when it really started to fall apart. Ever the optimist I decided to continue my patronage for an additional year. . . what a huge mistake. I should not have rewarded failing support with more business. In the last 180 days specifically it has been a dumpster fire. We are moving our sites and business elsewhere as soon as possible. Such a shame! Really wanted to support a US/VA business. Whatever went wrong, I can no longer recommend. read more

Horrible experience. My website just disappeared yesterday. After calling their tech support, waiting on hold for half an hour I found out that not only it is not working at the moment, it is actually gone, no content can be restored. The tech support was very matter of fact: sorry we can't do anything about it. Today I tried to call customer service. After waiting on hold for over an hour. I found out that they can offer me 5 months of free hosting at the time of renewal which is going to be April 2020. Yes, I paid until then. Now I don't have a website but they will not reimburse my money. Instead they were generous enough to offer me $50 credit which will cover $50 penalty for early cancellation! I DON'T have a website that they are currently hosting but since I paid until April 2020 they will penalize me for early cancellation! Can anybody understand that? When I asked if they could offer a free help with building a new website the customer service rep muted his mike and consulted his supervisor for a long time. When he came back he announced that they can not do it for me. When I asked to talk to his supervisor he sounded very surprised (I guess I should be happy) said that he will transfer me and transferred me to someone's voice mail! I really hope they will go out of business. Judging by the reviews it's gonna happen soon. read more

The bizs254 and now also the ecobiz156 servers have problems server is running in recovery mode for almost a week now, after a file system crash. Support is trying to calm users down, but has no ETA when the platform is fixed again. I am using a different provider and rerouted my web site, but email is working very spotty. I cannot speak for the ecommerce. How can a provider get into this position? Do they have more than a modified desktop that they hacked together? Looks like they have neither a fail safe nor a disaster recovery plan. This is scary and is calling for a change. read more

I've been trying to call to cancel my hosting package for weeks!!! All circuits are always busy! How do you promote 24/7/365 customer support but you never answer your phone!? I give up! I closed my bank account. Good luck read more

As a user of this service, all I can say is Buyer Beware! InMotionHosting provides the highest degree of incompetence and poor customer service. I have spent over 10 hours talking with technical support, customer service, supervisors about why their product does not work and all I get is people pointing me in a variety of directions just to get me off the phone. As a former CIO for large organizations, I know what good service and support looks like and the service and support from InMotion Hosting is sub par, at best. I am surprised they are still in business. As soon as I find a better provided, I will be moving along. read more

My background, I have used these guys for several years, and use to love this service. Over this past year, however, it's gone downhill. I find myself needing to contact customer support at least once a week over some issue on a website going down. I have customers upset with me because of this, and it's not my fault. Customer service, though I've experienced a few competent people, most just aren't trained to do their job. I get the feeling I'm just an inconvenience to them and they blow me off quickly. If you decide to use them, make sure they pay you for the privilege of hosting with them. It is likely you could charge them more for the amount of time you'll spend dealing with websites going down than the amount you are suppose to pay for the hosting. Do not use them, unless you want a headache. read more

I use the dedicated virtual server and this is the second time in the past 6 months they've had a "catastrophic failure" The first time I had to call them every hour until it was taken care of. This time, I can't even get through to them because of the amount of calls coming through. I do not recommend inmotion hosting! read more

Absolute WORST web hosting company in the WORLD!!! Not only can these turkeys not answer the phone, live chat has a 20 MINUTE WAIT!!! Completely unacceptable!!! AVOID IN MOTION HOSTING AT ALL COSTS! read more

Terrible Tech support, long delays, and no email responses. Their servers are always hacked and they are very expensive. Will not recommend for hosting any websites unless you can afford to wait for 40 mins to talk to someone. read more

5 days later and still the same lame responses like "it should work that way", "I don't know whats taking so long", "were going to get on that right away!". Its been a waste of time. These guys say they know wordpress but do you really? STAY AWAY! WASTE OF TIME! read more

I really tried. I purchased a 2 year plan to escape from poor service at my previous host. Inmotion makes you pay for migration or offers it free but makes you wait 7-10 days, which seems insane. I chose to manually upload my site(s). I am not a tech expert but I have used FTP etc to upload previous sites which I have also maintained for years. Inmotion, for some strange reason cannot maintain an FTP connection so uploading my backed up site file failed many many times, for reasons apparently unknown (to them). When I called tech support the first guy I talked to suggested I use the cpanel file uploader as it would be more stable, well ok then, I did and it finally succeeded to upload completely, or something. After the upload was complete I called back to get guidance on how to arrange the files etc. the first guy in this case that I spoke to actually asked me to wait on the phone while he read the instructions (which were also posted online haha) until I asked him if he was familiar with the process, he was not. SO I asked him to get me to someone who knew what they were doing, he almost did but then actually just went and uselessly asked someone else what he should tell me, so I asked him again and he transferred me to a tech supervisor. Now, the tech supervisor told me to start a ticket to have the file expanded and databases arranged etc, so I did, of course. I then received an email that the file was either incomplete or corrupted and I should try again. Now, keep in mind here that each upload took about 3 hours, it was already highly annoying, lasting all day. Well the next time I attempted the file upload it showed complete 100% but the file was now nowhere to be found, although it HAD showed up at least the time before. Now it was simply not even present. I tried to call tech support but they had me waiting with the cheery music for 20 minutes so I opened up a chat support window. When I finally got someone and started chatting I noticed above the file upload was a notice that there was a 1000mb limit to file size. This was a cpanel backup that was many gigs in size, of course it would fail! And keep in mind here that this was now 2 tech support folks and one tech supervisor who had both recommended this upload method or ok'ed it. When I realized this the tech support person in chat was saying, "no you have to use FTP but I don't know why it is disconnecting, maybe you should call your ISP". That was enough for me. Their own tech support, even supervisors had wasted my entire evening with utter incompetence. Normally one calls tech support for expertise and guidance, but in this case they were clueless, and worse. At that point I cancelled and demanded a refund. Buyer beware any hosting provider who sends uneducated children to the front lines of tech support while wasting customer's time and money. Maddening. read more

These Bad Reviews are written by IDIOTS!!! I have a Dedicated Server with this company and they have AN AMAZING SUPPORT TEAM... I Own Multiple Companies and do business around the world so I am up at all hours. I had an issue one time at 3AM my time and called Support and they were there and helped me with my issue! They go ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty! I have dealt with MANY, and I do mean MANY Hosting Companies and this is by far one of the BEST ONES out there! Don't be fooled by the Idiots that wrote bad reviews about this company. It seems like these reviewers don't know the first thing about hosting and should never have left GoDaddy! If you want Great Support and reliability go with these guys! read more

Eight years with a dedicated server with them and the past two years they have been in a downward spiral. As I write this our websites have been down for five hours and the wait times each time I call are around 50 minutes. Even paying extra for dedicated support during the week has long wait times. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS AT ALL COSTS. read more

In motion was a big mistake. My site went down at least 100 times in the 3 years I used inmotion. If it wasn't down, it was extremely slow. I optimized the site, compressed images, CSS, JS, every type of optimization there is, I did. Every speed test said to speed up server response time or gave first-byte-time an "F" rating. Every time I contacted them they just passed the blame. The day I migrated from inmotion to another host, my site speed increased by 16 times! Before migration, the homepage was loading in over 6 seconds. With the new host, the exact same page is loading in less than half of one second. Bottom line, migrating a site is extremely easy. Your new host does ALL of it for you. New host costs the same too!! read more

The only place you can get honest reviews for this host... See for yourself, you'll find a series of bogus reviews across the website either paid for, or self inflected. I have stories to share like the rest but I'll make this gripe strictly on support. They provide overseas chat support that are capable of basic server edits, any series problems or server critical down time gets escalated to paid managed support. Paid support is $40 per hour purchased in blocks of a few hours at a time, there is no way to identify how these hours accounted for. Think legal fee container. They use some custom made ticket system limited to providing details only to them, you will not know when a ticket is being worked on, whether they just randomly closed your ticket without a follow up, escalated a ticket, or even what your ticket number is unless you log them as you receive the one email generated by their system. They should be using freshdesk, zendesk, or salesforce type saas service. If your problem is anything but a setting change, such as a migration, backup, restore, server update, mission critical problems. You will get an update but expect your ticket to sit in queue until Thursday or Friday approximately 5pm (closing hours) eastern time for this Virginia beach office. Then find yourself with a half-baked rushed solution, requiring another response and 5-6 day follow up. Nick is the only managed support staff member they have supporting a few hundred clients. Research the staff members on their website you'll quickly find yourself being supported by 18-22 year-old's from local vocational schools, which wouldn't be a problem if they had care for their positions and support by an engineer or two. But it sounds/appears as though they're on their own, paid little, for entry level admin positions, and management is taking full advantage of these kids as they attempt to run the support facility by themselves in freshmen frat house capacity. Back to the search for well managed host...what an abyss. read more

Been trying to get in touch with inmotion all week and they can't connect my domain to a squarespace site, won't let me transfer to another provider, and refuse to even call me back, meaning I've wasted hours trying to get something to work that is actively being paid for. Pass on this company; I wish I could get the hours back that I've spent trying to fix what should be a simple issue. read more

InMotion customer service is beyond disappointing. I can't provide feedback on the hosting service, as we hardly used the website while it was active. However, their support was inexcusably unaccommodating when I needed assistance. I'd recommend choosing a business that appreciates its customers a bit more. read more

For the 2nd time in 4 months they shut me down for a week. I can receive but not send emails... Again. No solutions just apologies.

Fast. Reliable. Answered every question I had. I'm not a technical person so transferring my hosting is and was beyond my capabilities. They handled it for me with no interruption of service and walked me through the few housekeeping steps I did need to do. I just needed to be patient during the migration and it all worked out. Thank You InMotion! read more

I recently (2 months ago), pointed 3 domain names to 2 websites that I transferred from Network Solutions to InMotion Hosting. They helped me transfer the sites quickly and they worked with little down time. Then I created all of our email addresses (the same email addresses we had before) on their email server. Immediately I and other employees at my company began having sent emails bounced back to us with fail errors. These were emails sent to major server email addresses like gmail and sbcglobal.com addresses. I called InMotion tech support, which takes about 20 minutes on hold. They strongly suggested that it could not be their problem and gave me a bunch of suggestions that were way over my head as a non-web administrator. I suggested that the exact same email addresses on Network Solutions server worked fine to the same recipients. They finally dug around and made changed to the dns record of their email server. After that some recipients started getting our emails, others still bounced back. Round 2 on tech support...more changes made by them...some fixed, other still not working. Round 3 through 5 - they suggested I spend more money and go with a more secure server, the VPN1000. I did so, paid the money, they moved all our sites and email accounts to the new server, websites loaded much quicker which was nice, but email problems persisted. Prior to round 6 of tech support I educated myself as to the terms and suggested settings, security protocols and ran our email server IP address through several 3rd party security scan apps, which pointed out several problems that needed to be fixed. Round 6, round 7, round 8, still cannot send an email to anyone with a Hotmail account. Their working on Round 8 now and we'll see- they opened a "ticket" and are gonna get back to me just like the last 7 rounds. So I started working on one of the websites and went to log into the ftp client to upload a web change. Logs into their server but their server won't download the file directory. Call Tech support. They cannot figure out why. 20 minutes on hold and 45 minutes on with tech support while they try to figure it out. They were stumped. I had to actually make suggestions like asking them to try to log on using their own ftp client and see if their terminal will obtain the file directory. This step was clearly unconsidered on their end. IM DONE! this will be costly and time consuming to change, but screw these guys. Total failure to provide any of the services we were paying for in a problem free manner. read more

I HAD a wordpress.com blog that I ran for close to two years. I say HAD because tech support at inmotion hosting completely erased it! Their tech, Dante, asked for my user name and password, entered my blog and changed the theme, essentially erasing my blog, without saving my material. STAY AWAY from these guys! read more

Website is down for what appears to be no reason, absolutely ridiculous wait times for any support. Bulls#$t message about call being escalated and additional representatives coming on to handle long waits. Super Tech Support! I cannot help but write this review because of Daniel M. who answered my call this morning. Our church site was hacked, and Daniel is simply an answer to prayer! For his exceptional service, I and the church that our website represents are sincerely grateful. Again, thank you, Daniel! read more

So I've been with them for a year now and I have to say, their customer service is outstanding. The initial web design experience was a disaster as I detailed in my review last year. APRIL 15, 2017 - BUYER BEWARE OF THIS HOSTING COMPANY. We have just experienced a devastating week for our company with LOSING ALL OUR EMAILS FOR THE LAST YEAR by InMotion Hosting. We have also had no email service for several days, website down, bits and pieces of fragmented information coming back, only to disappear again. I cannot tell you how this has impacted our business, staff, and clients this week. A mess beyond description. Yes, their customer service is good, as they politely tell you ALL YOUR INFORMATION IS GONE AND CAN'T BE RECOVERED due to a "catastrophic failure." InMotion appears to not be up to standards with their equipment, systems, or procedures. It all went down and they stated that they didn't know what was happening or what to do. Even with back-ups, items are missing, everything is jumbled, and will never be the same. VERY UNSTABLE SYSTEMS - use at your own risk. I DO NOT RECOMMEND INMOTION HOSTING! read more
