I sent him a message through MyChart and he said to contact my PCP. I did and thank goodness for Dr. Sarah Murphy. She ordered a specific blood test and then a CT scan. I had multiple blood clots in both lungs! Dr. In the ER said I dodged a bullet! 2 weeks later I had very bad shortness of breath. NP at SSMC said after an X-ray that I had pneumonia and prescribed antibiotics After 3 days I called 911 myself since I felt worse. Was diagnosed with pericardial effusion and spent a week in ICU!

The lab has terrible hours and I am lucky my schedule allows me to even come here when they are open without missing work. Upon walking in, there are no humans greeting you or giving any instructions. In fact, the window is covered with paper and there are signs everywhere that didn't apply to me and made it more confusing! I did sort of figure it out and walk to a tablet to sign in? I did that and then found the waiting room. Thankfully, another person waiting were able to at least tell me I did what I was supposed to, though she didn't seem to be 100% sure herself. While waiting, I could hear a staff member having a personal phone call. Then a few minutes later I could hear, "Well I have to go now...." I wish I had known to make an appointment? The phlebotomist who assisted me was rude, abrasive, and made me feel very uncomfortable throughout my visit. In addition, I felt my privacy may have been compromised. While discussing whether I had paid for my testing, the conversation was conducted loudly enough that I believe other patients in the other rooms could hear my personal information. This felt inappropriate and raised concerns about HIPAA privacy standards. Overall, the interaction left me feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. I hope this feedback can be addressed to ensure patients are treated respectfully and that sensitive conversations are handled more discreetly in the future.

I did check through my insurance prior to having the tests done as well. Never was I told that they only have one test contracted through my insurance company and I would be responsible for the payment, which is costly.
