The worst customer service I have ever received…read more Unfortunately this is my local post office and when I have to ship things I usually go out of my way to go downtown simply because downtown the customer service is excellent and they're typically faster. This post office sends my mail to a house that isn't even registered with my house number and I have been battling back and forth with Christy about it. Not only do they send my mail to the wrong house - they send me my neighbors mail and packages as well. I have gone back and forth for months saying the house down the street is receiving my mail (whom just moved) so because they moved they have been sending MY MAIL back to the sender. What does that mean? It means I don't get my package and I have to fight with the people I ordered from to get a refund. Four times. They have returned my mail to senders four times AFTER KNOWING who I am and where I live. It gets better. Christy promised me that she would HOLD MY MAIL at the post office and what happens? They send it off anyways (one of them to be returned to sender same day) and the other one I waste an hour at the post office for everyone to look dumbfounded about where my package is at. An hour later I get told that it's with a carrier, that her boss overrides what she says. If that's the case, don't promise someone you'll hold their mail for it to be in the air. The best part is that they want me to "prove" that my address is the address that is has. I was sent off with a piece of paper with a phone number to reach the manager which coincidentally "is out of order."

Greeting you once you enter the post office is the all-mighty automated postal machine, which is plenty capable of producing postage, while ensuring that humans are no longer needed. To the left of the entrance are thousands of post office boxes. A long time ago I recall the thrill of reserving my first post office box in college. PO Box 803. I was excited because that was also our area code. Then next year, we moved to area code 864. I did not receive PO Box 864. I was shortly banned from the post office due to "attitude issues." To the right of the entrance are the human-staffed counters. These brave souls take on the best and worst our little suburb can throw at them: badly-written addresses, questions about where to vote, and boxes of questionable content. There is also a faded sign where the copier once was. Thanks Kinkos for making post office copiers a socialist thing. Beyond knowing your post office is there, you should know there is way more action behind the counter. Processing of your meal kits, vicious political advertising, and letters from grandma require an army of human sorters (automatic sorters disposed of courtesy of the Trump administration) and delivery specialists who drop all this stuff in your home mailbox so you can swiftly drop it all into recycling.
