I recently experienced damage to one of my hearing aids. After researching online, I found that the…read morenecessary replacement part costs only $35 brand new. My wife suggested I check whether the repair would be covered under warranty. When I called, I was told it was--but that I'd have to pay a $344 deductible, and they would send the device out for repair. This is a clear example of a company prioritizing profit over the customer. Unfortunately, many people would never think to research whether such a repair could be done themselves. From the very beginning of my experience with this location, I've never felt valued as a customer. I obtained my hearing aids through a program for the underprivileged in Michigan, yet I was consistently treated as though I should be "grateful" for their help. At one point, a doctor even accused me of lying when I described the poor treatment I received. My hearing aids cost over $3,500, and regardless of who pays the bill, every patient deserves to be treated with respect. Do your research--there are better providers out there than this one.

So, I took the Birmingham office appt., and am so glad I did! I had an appt. w Dr. Ceritano, O.D., and she was fantastic, she is a very kind and calm presence, made sure to explain everything she was doing, what to do at home w my medicine, and follow-up info (if needed). Not only was she fantastic, but so was the nurse who I met with first for measurements and drops, and the front office staff! This place ran like a well oiled machine! I was in and out in under 30mins, and my issue has since resolved. Thanks all!

I also informed him that she was on multiple psychiatric medications, and that her psychiatric providers expressed concern about combining stimulants with her mental-health meds. Despite several notifications and documentation from her psychiatric treatment team, I did not see any reassessment of her stimulant prescription or coordination with her mental-health providers. She is now hospitalized for the second time this year and her medication conflicts are part of what her inpatient team is addressing. I'm sharing this so other families understand how important it is to advocate strongly when someone has complex psychiatric needs.

Most of us don't review health care providers because we have to reveal some personal information…read morein the process. My experience here was bad enough it was worth that risk. I was referred here by another doctor for a minor non-surgical issue. I was asked to send all previous medical records before my appointment, which I did. I also verbally gave the doctor, internal medicine specialist Dr. Ruth Lerman, my medical history. Without my knowledge, her office sent my records out for a second opinion. However, I'd already HAD a second opinion AND had the necessary procedure done by the surgeon who referred me to Beaumont. What followed first was a relentless barrage of calls and even mail insisting I schedule a follow-up even though I kept telling them I had already had a second opinion and the problem taken care of before I ever set foot in their office. The calls kept coming. I told them I was NEVER returning to their center, as I already had a doctor and follow-up care scheduled. The calls continued. (All, oddly, coming in with caller ID from the Seychelles.) Then I got the bill for the "second opinion" consultation, which I had not been informed of nor consented to. I have great insurance so my share of it was small, but since the records did not need review and I'd already taken care of the problem, I believed it was unethical to expect my insurance company OR me to pay for it. It took weeks of fruitless calling before I finally emailed the hospital's appeals department. Their response? Basically that's what they do so that's what they did, without any medical or logical explanation at all. Through this time I kept getting calls to go to a follow-up appointment with Dr. Lerman - who by the way was not able to help my problem, so it's pretty much beyond me why I'd go back. I simply wanted a single consultation with this doctor and wasn't looking to become part of the Beaumont clan, caught forever in their Byzantine machinery. I can tell you this experience has set in stone that I'll never set foot in this place again. I suggest you do the same.
