When we travel through the Baker City area on a trip, we Always make this restaurant as our Go To for Breakfast. My favorite is a Cheese Omelette, Hashbrowns, Toast, and a siide of Ilnk sausage, with Coffee. I have Never been disappointed with the Friendly Surroundings, Service, or Food. I have not mentioned what the Wife, because she generally orders something different. But, she has never been disappointed in any of the categories that I mentioned above. We both strongly recommend the inland Cafe for any meal at any time of the day. I Never rate higher than Four Stars as I feel there is always room for improvement, but for this place I was sorely tempted. read more

we were staying in Mountain View RV park near by. They recommended this place. The restaurant opens early so perfect for us. Coffee hit the spot right off the bat. I loved their biscuits and gravy, wife had the pancales/eggs/hashbrowns. Staff was friendly & informative on things to do in area. Restaurant & bathrooms were clean. We were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food we received. There isn't really a place to park a large RV at restaurant, but we found a spot across the street to park the 28' RV. We feel this is the best Mom & Pop breakfast place in town. We will stop back here even if it is off the road a little ways from interstate. read more

One more great find through Yelp. I was traveling through the area on my cycle and searched up cafe's on Yelp. This came with some very good ratings so I decided to give it a try. The wait staff were nice from the start and kept my water topped off. The chicken fried steak has very good meat but not the crunchy outer layer I was hoping for. It was still very good. I opted out of toast and potatoes, opting for fruit instead. It was an easy change with my waitress and she was happy to do it. The place itself was very clean and spacious enough to handle a small crowd and not feel packed in. It is light and airy as well. Pricing is fair in todays world. If in the area again, I would make a point of stopping here for breakfast or lunch. read more

Oh my! Skip the motel breakfast and come here. We had the special Bavarian cream stuffed Huckleberry French toast with eggs and bacon/sausage. I had the Gluten free version without the Bavarian creme. Totally delicious! Great service, clean and efficient. We will stop afain when driving through. read more

We came mid afternoon on a Friday. Very few other people at that time. Service was fine (the one star). My husband ordered a chef salad and a side of fries. The fries were limp and very greasy although fresh. Drippy grease. The chef salad as well as my side salad (pictured) was obviously out of a bag (blah and plain) and tasted like it. I was at least thankful they offered a veggie burger which was just ok. I was so disappointed, as they have a new owner and I was hopeful for a change. We won't be back. read more

Far from the freeway sits Inland Cafe. This appears to be a local breakfast spot. Our breakfast (blueberry pancake, bacon, egg, and a veggie omelet) were solidly good. This place really stood out to us because of the attentive servers. These travelers would eat here again! read more

Oh my goodness! Huge portions on the breakfast menu--we had it for dinner. I had the Country Scramble. Two eggs, hash browns, a sausage patty, and a biscuit, all smothered with cream gravy. I had them top it with shredded cheese. Yummy! Mt husband got the hamburger steak with two eggs & hash browns. He said it was delicious too. The best part was my chocolate shake! I'm originally from the area and over the past couple of years, we've been renting an Airbnb outside of Haines and making the trek in daily for a delicious breakfast at the Inland Cafe. Yes daily, it was that good! By the end of the trip, the waitresses knew our names and we felt a bit like family. Since last year, things seem like a complete 180 from what made this place special. Looking back over the counter, the line cooks were definitely not the same, so maybe that's the difference or they have new owners? Previously, amazing breakfasts... thick cut bacon, amazing hot cakes and french toast, eggs always perfect. Dedicated kids menu with things like chocolate chip pancakes, etc. The food was fairly priced and clearly made with love. On top of that, service was fantastic. Loved bringing my family here because it reminded me of the local cafes I grew up eating in. This year, the pancakes were so hard as to be barely edible. The scrambled eggs for the kids were so overcooked they were flat and lifeless. The over medium eggs were beyond runny. The thick cut bacon had become limp, greasy, and thin little strips. The kids chocolate chip pancakes were incredibly disappointing. My kids are still little and had built this experience up so much and rightfully so, they were that good. This time, I had a hard time cutting them up with a knife and those chocolate chips that smothered the pancake before were now just a pinch and a $2.00 up charge per kids meal. Forget the kids menu and crayons, forget the love. It was all gone. Our waitress was one we had before and service was attentive and she was good. Wish I could have said the same about the food. Doubt we'll be back this trip. Maybe next year for one more shot. read more

I absolutely love the Inland Cafe. I work for the State and often times found myself in this area while on business. Every single time I end up near Baker City, I have to be absolutely sure that I coordinate either breakfast or lunch at the Inland Cafe. I always go for the chicken fried steak with everything. The steak is nicely breaded, always cooked perfectly. If I order my eggs scrambled, they're not overdone, and if I order them over-medium, they're actually over-medium! Eggs seem like an easy thing to cook, but they're truly not. Cooking good eggs, consistently, is a skill that's hard earned by line cooks. I've been here alone and with co-workers. My co-workers have always enjoyed their food and have agreed with me that it was a good place to stop. I will also generally pick up a cinnamon roll or two to take back with me, as they usually offer some fresh baked, daily wrapped ones next to the counter upon payment. I love this place and my only regret is that since I no longer have a reason to be in Baker City, it's unlikely I'll be here for breakfast again. Still, there's some good recreational opportunities in the surrounding mountains around the city, so there's hope yet that I'll be able to eat here again. read more

This is my kind of place! And once again Yelp reviewers were spot on with their opinions on this restaurant. This is a diner! Generous portions of tasty food at reasonable prices. Mostly a blue collar, working guy kind of place. It was mostly elder ranchers and locals, many former military clientele there. Some reviewers complained about the quality of the food here and while I understand why they feel as they do, I don't concur. If you're expecting foofy, attractively presented, stingy portions of insanely expensive meals lovingly prepared by a chef with a hyphenated last name, you're not going to like this place. If you are hungry and want to fill your tummy without breaking the bank, you're going to love this place. A special shout out to the waitress who was nothing short of amazing. Working alone she cheerfully and efficiently took great care of the dozen or so patrons who were there the morning we were. Plus, my coffee cup never went below 1/2 full which is no small chore with a guy who drinks as much coffee as I do. It was about $10 for a very fulfilling meal including a bottomless cup of coffee. Went on a Sunday morning with our friends who live in Baker. Probably a smaller crew in the kitchen so the food was a little slower coming out, but well worth the wait. Yas gotta love it when a business takes negative comments, rolls up their sleeves and makes it right. I wrote these folks a negative review last June. As fate would have it, my pal and some other folks we know ended up in beautiful Baker City today. Our plans for breakfast didn't pan out (no gold for us) so one of our party suggested the Inland Cafe. She said she has been there recently and it was great. We had heard some rumblings about a problem in the kitchen that got sorted out. But who knows? A p p r e h e n s i v e was what my pally and I were. But I tells yas this, my amigo and I had both missed eat'in here cause we did it regularly on an irregular basis and it used ta be a go to joint for us. Anyhow, we motored on over there. Four of us in all, each ordered different breakfast grub and joe. At the end of breakfast none of us had anything resembling a complaint. All the breakfasts were superb, maybe better than that and the joint was clean as a pin. The service was just peachy. Jodi, the server did step on my foot eight or ten times, but aside from that she was fast, efficient, warm, professional and has a great personality. I kinda have a check system in my head. One of the main check offs is if my coffee cup gets refilled with "hot" coffee before I have to ask, that happens here seamlessly. Might be trivial for you, isn't for me. Ok, ok, I made up the part about Jodi stepping on my foot. Yas gotta admit, it added a little drama to my review. Maybe some screenwriter will read it and wanna hire me to write scripts for film noir detective stories, yas just never know. So heres da bottom line. There's always one a dese. Food was fine, but this place is woefully inconsistent when it comes to COVID compliance. Multiple employees had their noses and/or mouths exposed for long stretches while serving customers. I have to admit, my wife and daughter picked this place driving down the highway and it is not much to look at from the outside but WOW!! The inside is amazing!
