I used Inky Little Fingers to print a run of 40 booklets with my artwork in. The quality of the printing and the paper is great and the prices are reasonable. The calculator is also helpful in working out exactly what you're paying. Unfortunately all good points end there, however.
When I first called the helpdesk to enquire about bleed margins, the man I spoke to said he didn't know anything about it which isn't exactly encouraging considering it's one of the most basic things an employee of a printing company should know about so I ended up just using one of the templates on the website. I waited for a hardcopy proof, which they had specifically said I would receive, and that I had paid £12.50 for. They sent me flat sheets, not a hardcopy, then told me they had never said I would receive a hardcopy in the first place. Eventually they reluctantly sent me a hardcopy only for the bleed to be wrong. When I called them again they said it was my fault because 'the templates aren't meant to be used'. Then why are they on the website?
Eventually the man on the helpdesk said that in the final copies of the books he would get the staff to cut off the white borders that had ended up on all of them because of the bleed issue. When I received them, the white borders were still there. I called again, to be told that they decided not to do it. Apparently it would have been too tricky and might have damaged the books, which is fair enough, but I would have appreciated being told this before they sent the books out.
When I called the last time to ask about this, the man on the helpdesk became angry and raised his voice at me. I decided to email the manager to complain about him and was told he was 'probably having a bad day' however, after apologising for his employees' behaviour, the manager then went on to tell me that I was 'clearly an amateur' who didn't know what they were doing. I found this extremely rude.
Several of my friends have also ordered from Inkylittlefingers recently with similar projects. Some of them also complained of delayed orders, damaged products or rude and patronising staff.
In conclusion, if you want high quality printing but don't mind dealing with unhelpful staff and delayed orders, go ahead and use them but if not, avoid. read more
