I have been to Gastown Tattoo many times over the past several years for laser removal, and I have…read morehad one tattoo done here. Laser: Cleo, who does the laser removal here, is so nice and friendly. She knows what she's doing, and she made a very painful experience for me a little easier. I would always look forward to seeing her and having a little chat. I appreciated her knowledge and expertise when it came to having my tattoo removed. Tattoo: There is a vibe here that I find a bit off-putting. Sometimes the people at the front desk have been courteous, but often aloof to the point of unfriendly. I feel quite unwelcome in the space, and the artist who did a matching tattoo for my friend and me really didn't seem to want to be doing it (we had asked and made sure he was ok with it, and he agreed). I would come back her for laser removal, but not tattooing (unless there was a specific artist who I wanted to see).

Need to talk to be able to talk to someone when you're laid out for a few hours in pain. - bit of a wait for bookings, I waited four and a half weeks between consult to ink time. - a good job coordinating and multiple reminders. - super clean studio FYI: - parking is brutal in gastown. I park at Tinseltown and go over sometimes (if tat is under two hrs), but super easy to just transit - shop sits on a one way street, if driving - be prepared to pay a deposit aft the consult ($100 usually)

I appreciate the ease of communication and how knowledgeable Terry is. He's very honest and will give you all the information you need. Today, January 25,2022, I did the Scarlet RF. I was supposed to do this procedure last year but had to hold off because of personal reason. I've already did consult last year but Terry wanted to do another one to make sure all my concerns and questions are addressed. I used to go to a different skin clinic before. Unfortunately, the other clinic has gone too busy and too commercialized. The personal touch is gone in my opinion. One thing I like about The One Skin is how they make you feel they care about you. Terry is very kind and you can feel his sincerity. The whole procedure took almost 3 hours including post care. I'm not going to lie. The procedure is painful but tolerable. The numbing cream really helped. The package I bought includes 3 sessions of Scarlet RF, 3 post procedure care and 3 peeling treatments done 2 weeks after SRF. It's just my first session and I feel very good. I will update this review once I completed the 3 sessions. So far so good!

I had been very interested in getting tattooed by Shiyu for the longest time. Some of my friends…read morehave full sleeves and back pieces done by her, and they look incredible. She has a waitlist channel on Instagram that I follow, and as soon as the booking form opened, I submitted it. At the time, I wasn't completely sure what I wanted, so I gave a vague description of my idea. When I arrived for my appointment, she showed me her design, which was very similar to the references I had provided. However, it wasn't quite what I truly wanted deep down, and she could tell. She asked me more questions and showed me drafts, inspirations, and additional references. Once she fully understood what I wanted, she created a new design. Shiyu was incredibly kind, patient, and skilled throughout the process. She made sure the placement was perfect and that I wouldn't have any regrets. The result was amazing--I was extremely satisfied. The price point was also very fair. I would 100% recommend her if you're looking for a Japanese-style tattoo.

Life sized body art paintings are canvassed on the walls... all created by Jeff Tam. He is the…read moremastermind behind this already popular tattoo parlour. He's worked for Art at (the infamous) Funhouse for many years before leaving to make his own (ink)print in the tattoo world. Travelling for years in Japan and across Europe to learn and practice with some of the greatest. When I met Jeff for the first time, it was an instant connection. I loved his groovy reggae tunes blasting from his ipod, his very chill and relaxed demeanour and his humbleness of what fantastic work he is capable of doing. His store is immaculate, décor asian inspired. I already had my left shoulder done with a dragon and wanted to give it a 'companion' by tattooing a lion on the opposite side of my back. I explained to him the meaning behind my choice and then he was off. Throwing out ideas and how and what it should look like. Everything he suggested I loved so I gave him full artistic reins of what he wanted to do. Best decision I made...just look at the photo I post up. It was his idea to add the clouds and moon around the dragon and have the lion climbing up out of the flower onto the rock towards the sky to clearly distinct the difference between land and air creature. It took 3 different sessions...and probably a total of 5-6 hours of work done. I chose to stay with the black and grey shades but his colored tattoos are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. One of the things about Jeff that makes me respect him so much as an artist, is that he has no problem refusing clients and sending them on their way if they come in with a silly request like a "winne the pooh" tattoo or is getting something done for the sake of it. I asked him why, and he says its because he is an artist and as an artist, doesn't want to have his work on somebody's body that doesn't have meaning or represent what he wants to put out there.. he also takes whatever 'idea' or picture of what someone wants, and adds his own 'spin' to it...basically making it his own. Don't worry people, whatever he touches, will turn out to be a masterpiece.

As a former paramedic who's seen her share of nasty infections (and more), when it comes to tattoo…read moreand piercing places, nothing is more important to me than sanitary and hygienic practices, implements and skilled technicians. If the staff are nice, that's a bonus. This place has it all and deserves all five stars I'm bestowing. I initially went to their Granville Street location to inquire about tattoo removal, and they referred me to this Kits site, saying that the laser tattoo removal machine at Kits is state of the art, requires less repeat visits and is the least painful. (I wish I remember the name of this machine, but I researched it online and indeed, it was new and highly reviewed "in the biz"). The staff at this Granville site were friendly and helpful to me, but I did not get anything done here, as I went to Kits instead. I was impressed, though, with how big this store was (and, as a side note, my kid got two ear cartilage piercings here - unbeknownst to me! , - and she told me, weeks after the fact, that the staff here were very friendly and professional with her and they did a great job. So, kudos to the Granville store!). Back to Kits....there's a guy there named Craig who is unbelievably awesome with tattoo removals. I can't say enough about him. He won't make promises that he can't back up (I really respect people who tell it to me straight), and he is patient in explaining the whole process, from beginning to end, including follow-up care and procedures. I've now been back to him three times over the past 18 months. My tattoo is nearly gone (most people probably would have been happy with the results after the second zapping, as it was so faint, but my goal is for it to be totally GONE. I think the third time's the charm). Once I did not prepare in advance and did not put on the topical EMLA cream, which numbs the area, and it did hurt more than the other two times. Not crazy-painful, but like continuous snapping of an elastic on my skin. But with the cream application, it was barely noticeable. And Craig uses a cold fan of sorts to the area simultaneously as he zaps the area with the laser. I'm talking numbing cold. It really helps to minimize the pain, confusing the nerve pain receptors to the brain somehow. Anyhow, even without the EMLA cream, it was totally do-able. But if you can apply the cream in advance, it does make a difference. (I got the cream at the No Frills on Broadway for a very reasonable price. Worth every cent). It's not cheap here but there's NO WAY I'd scrimp pennies on tattoos or piercings or laser tattoo removals! No WAY! Craig and the rest of the staff here are super friendly. The kind of folks you'd want to be friends with (and, coming from me, a straightlaced, suburban-mom-type, yes, I'm saying I'd love to be friends with these 20-something guys and gals with huge gauge earring holes and multiple piercings and tattoos. These guys are incredibly warm and nice and, anyhow, everything else is just superficial stuff). And more importantly, they adhere strictly to the highest of standards and professionalism. The store has a small selection of cute gift items for sale, too: cell phone cases, water bottles, beach towels and t-shirts, etc. FYI: there's also an Adrenaline in Toronto and Montreal.

One star for the poor customer service, and poorly done tattoo. I would give zero if I could. I…read moredidn't want to post this but I had no other choice as Adrenaline refuses to refund me (I asked for a partial refund) and wants to stand behind this piece. OLYA is the artist who did this snake piece. Very poorly done. Doesn't look like a professional did it. Very uneven and inconsistent scaling. I was super unhappy with it and decided to get all the scaling done at a different shop. When I brought my piece to be done to the other artist, she was shocked on how badly it was done, and that Adrenaline should really be refunding me. When I brought up my concerns to adrenaline, they basically blamed me and said because I went to another artist and "didn't give them the opportunity to fix it" they wouldn't refund anything. Furthermore, they decided to blame how "red ink settles differently" LOL hilarious... look at the zoomed in red snake attached. TERRIBLE. Sloppy. Inconsistent. It's the lines from the artist not the RED INK, Adrenaline... In what world would I want to come back for another artist to mess it up further?! No person would do that. I'm sure all the tattoo artists here have that same level of skill set so yes of course I went to a different shop. And I didn't even ask for a full refund, all I was requesting was a partial. The fact that Adrenaline & Olya can look at these photos and say it's "well done" And not understand why I'm upset...is laughable. Adrenaline is a money hungry, franchised trash bin of a tattoo shop. It's a good place if you want something simple and small & straightforward but anything other than that, don't go here lol. This is the type of tattoos adrenaline does! And they don't even own up to their own mess ups either.
