I had filler done, and sadly it must have been done too close to my eyes and was puffy underneath. I returned a year later and I was given a quick injection to help depuff under one eye and it made it worse. I wish I had never gone. So upsetting to see this daily. read more

The treatments are great and some staff SOME incredible. However, I have had the worst experience with the booking agents and receptionists. They're so very beyond rude and over inflated. perhaps they have let their treatments go to their head. It's as if they have been briefed to never ever apologies so the clinic doesn't ever get sued and taken it to a self riotous level. Furthermore- they take months to respond to emails and apparently it is not their practice to follow up on patients. Also be warned some staff are great - others are 25 yr olds who follow text books. you need to double and triple check any concerns with senior staff and do not trust the responses of the booking agents. This the best way to have a good experience - but unfortunately they will treat you like you are rude when you need more information or a second opinion. just flow with it - this is the best we have in Vancouver. it's unfortunate. read more

I had high hopes for Project Skin, but was completely let down. My under eye circles, bags and lines around my eyes have always bothered me, and I've felt that they really age me and make me look tired. After lots of research online, I finally decided to go to Project Skin for eye rejuvenation, specifically for under eye/ tear trough fillers. After the consultation and listening to my eye area concern, Dr. McGillivray recommended that I get dermal fillers in my cheeks first, since the cheeks are the foundations to the eye area and filling the cheeks would probably address my eye area concern - I may not need my tear troughs filled at all. He suggested that I get 3 syringes (at $750 a syringe), and he assured me that we would see how that works out, and that we could go from there. Since Dr. McGillivray is a renowned and experienced injector, I trusted him and agreed to go ahead with his recommendation of injecting the cheeks. I was hopeful and excited to finally see my eye area rejuvenated. During the treatment, I felt a little nervous about getting 3 syringes and because of the high cost, I decided to only go for 2. The procedure went fine, and I had some bruising on my one cheek for about a week after, but nothing crazy. The results, however, were extremely disappointing. All it did was make the mid section of my face and cheeks broader, wider, and bigger, without ANY improvement to my eye area concern. In fact, it actually accentuated my under eye hollows and made them look WORSE. My face now looks strangely wider, and I don't feel like myself when I look in the mirror. My friends have noticed that I look "different" - not a comment I was hoping for. I mean, don't we all want people to NOT notice that we got anything done, but that we look refreshed and great? Well, that is not what I got. Thank god I only went for 2, not 3 syringes. There was no follow up after my cheek fillers, like promised. For the high cost of this clinic compared to other reputable places in Vancouver, the lack of follow up and customer satisfaction is not acceptable. Doctors need to do proper follow-up, in person, with before and after photos. I think that injectors that only do a phone call follow up show an appalling lack of quality control. This place didn't even do that. $1500 later, I am left with not only my under eye hollows accentuated, but an unbalanced face with wider cheeks. I am a single mom, and I saved up for a long time for this. Money down the drain. To say that I'm disappointed is an understatement. read more

I must say that I was disappointed during my 10 minute consultation, which cost $100. To a degree, I understand that they don't want their time wasted but I also didn't need this. All I wanted was a quote. I knew I would be a candidate and this fee, to me, is a cash-grab. Because they can. I was told that all of my areas qualified for treatment. Recently, I got a quote elsewhere and one of my areas was questionable, due to the shape of one thigh. My body is not symmetrical. I was advised it could probably be done but I would need to abstain from over-exercising to preserve a little extra bulge for the device. I appreciated the honesty coming from the other facility. In the end, I did not choose Project Skin because I was quoted $700 above my other choice facility, despite losing my $100 consultation fee, and there were no bonus services included (such as a laser collagen facial which I also received in my package). I did not feel like I was in the best of hands and the facility felt too cold & clinical. read more

I have been coming to Project Skin MD for about 5 years, for a variety of laser and esthetic skin treatments, and I can't say enough about the warmth, professionalism, and skill of the people who work there. Dr. MacGillivray has built his clinic around top-quality lasers and top-quality staff, as well as a diverse range of treatments that are both cutting-edge and research-based. Attention to detail is obvious at every turn, from the decor in the clinic, the coffee/tea/water and make-up touch-ups offered to clients, the easy and discreet access in and out of the clinic from an underground parking lot, and the thoughtful choices of medical-grade skincare (Skinceuticals) and makeup, etc. I am a pretty "everyday" working professional who dresses very casually and who does not live a glamorous life in any way, but the staff at this elegantly styled and high-end clinic make me feel welcome every time with friendly smiles and conversation, and I leave there feeling well taken care of. After a visit, I am also better informed about my skin and skincare, and I feel good knowing that I am getting "the best of the best", for a price that is not the lowest in town but also not the highest (based on research I did before my very first visit). I came here once for a consultation which was $150...a bit pricey and hence the 4star. The consultation was about 10-minutes. Dr. McGilivray recommended a prescription topical gel which I was skeptical of because I've been given so many recommendations, creams, gels, treatments in the past and nothing has worked. The gel that Dr. McGilivray was the only thing that worked. In 2 weeks hormonal acne cleared up. I felt like he knew what he was saying and he had the confidence that what he was going to recommend would work. I am a believer in Project Skin! read more

This truly is the absolute best place to go for any treatments that you have thought about, contemplated or wished you could have done. As a man, I was intimidated by most places and unsure even where to start. I was given a recommendation to try Project skin after trying some of their skinceuticals care products. I met Dr Monica Li, she put me at ease, was very thorough and professional, came up with a detailed treatment plan to rejuvenate my skin, enhance any opportunity areas and did so in a clear step by step care plan. I was nervous about treatment initially but I can say that Dr Li and her team are beyond amazing, they are an example of best in class. The best part is that they are even better people, so you leave looking great and feeling amazing that you were able to spend part of your day with them. Excellent facility. I get Excel-V treatments done here for redness and flushing and my results have been amazing. The Excel-V here was $250 less than another medical clinic quoted, so the prices are reasonable for the level of care received. I no longer have to wear foundation as my skin tone is so even. I also get my Botox done here for the last 5 years and the results are very natural and have prevented wrinkles from forming. I like that Dr. Macgillivray and his staff do not push unnecessary treatments or products, nor do they try to make patients feel bad about themselves to sell treatments. I like the Skinceuticals sunscreens sold here. I have referred a few of my friends to Project Skin and they are all very satisfied with their treatments. read more

The products they use are all tested on animals. I was assured that wasn't the case when I booked the appt but then did my homework and called back to cancel when I discovered that L'Oreal does test on animals since they sell their products in China, where they needlessly require it. It was disappointing to be assured twice on the call that the products weren't tested only to discover via my own research just days before my appt that they are, which to their credit PS did agree with when I called back to let them know I was cancelling for this reason. PSMD responded with info from L'Oréal which says they don't test on animals but that China does when they sell their products there - which means the L'Oréal products are tested on animals. If L'Oréal wants to say they don't test on animals they have to stop selling in China until that changes. read more

The thing I like the most about Project Skin MD is probably the very friendly staff and very beautiful office. I think that the treatments they offer compared to other reputable medical spas are a bit on the high end, but that they deliver what they say they are going to deliver. I've had many treatments here now, ranging from lasers, to fillers, to simply purchasing skincare treatments, given that I absolutely love science-based skincare and makeup. Here is where my issue starts. Initially, I was extremely excited to finally address my pores, fine lines, and sun spots via laser. The treatment went extremely well, and was far less scary or painful than I imagined it would be. The laser tech girl is so sweet, friendly, and really makes you feel at ease. What I do not like, is while you are paying, you are having products pushed on you by someone who has no scientific background whatsoever. I do not feel a naturopath has any place in a medical science establishment, but that is my personal opinion I suppose. Although I was very reluctant to address my skin via products (since mine we working great for me with no issues), I thought, "hey, why not? I could try something new, and perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised"! I admit fault for my own mistake. I'm not sure which of the three products I purchased that day, but my skin broke out consistently for several months afterwards, until I was able to do process of elimination and figure out which two were causing that. Needless to say, the acne scarring that resulted from months of break outs completely undid all of the progress I made with my laser treatments, and now my skin is more awful looking than ever, with completely new problems than the ones I was originally even concerned about. When I went in to discuss this issue, I feel I was treated coldly and that my needs and concerns were not addressed. Of course, I received no refund - I would imagine it's fairly common to reject refunds for skincare products given that they are used. However, it doesn't change the fact that their ill-suited adviser damaged my skin more than they were able to fix it with treatments, and for that, I do not recommend anyone to see her as she is not qualified to be giving advice on skin care. I would instead highly recommend taking skincare advice from DERMATOLOGISTS, not from a sales girl. It is unlikely I will go back to this office for treatments due to the uncomfortable atmosphere of pushing products after treatment, as well as the fact that this office is more expensive than the Laser Skincare Centre for example, who does not push products -- and they never damaged my skin. read more

Overinflated ego and over rated. The consult starts with an older female "consultant" who basically is a sales person that knows exactly how to upsell under a superficial guise of "caring" -then once hustled in the chair - you're not even asked or spoken to about what they are injected, they choose what and how much and they inject to the maximum- my cheekbones were ridiculously blown up, unnaturally so and if you even try to have any say in terms of would like it to be more natural looking, it's taken as a direct insult to McGilvray's skillset and made to feel completely intimidated to say a word about what he's going to do and if you're ok with it. So by the time they quickly pump you up with as much product as they can get into you and scooting you out for the next gullible pushover, you end up leaving without knowing what hit you- and a huge inflated bill to go with it. There is not any more attention to detail or injection skillset here than the other cosmetic clinics mentioned, here. I thought I'd switch over from one of the other clinics because I was admittedly taken by the 4 star ratings and evident self-branding - but McGilvray turns out to be a whole lot of hype and you will pay twice as much for unwanted overly enhanced results - which only pays for their boujie pretence and nothing special behind it, whatsoever. First off I would not recommend Project Skin MD to anyone who is feeling self conscious about their skin. I am a young women that was really looking forward to taking the first step to having better looking skin as I suffer from acne + acne scars. The telephone staff were very nice as well as the dermatologist and his assistant. ( Dr McGillivray and Steph I believe ) Which saddens me that I have to rate only 1 star. The only thing I disliked about the doctor was that he did not take the time to look at my skin without any makeup on. I wear full coverage makeup so I thought it was odd that he could prescribe me 2 different medications, a facial, as well as 4 laser treatments without even seeing what my skin really looks like. Other then that he was very nice. The reason I rated 1 star was because of one of the skin care consultants (aka fancy name for sales person) named Svetlana. She was extremely rude to me right from the beginning. She practically told me I was ugly and had 0 sympathy for my issue. All she wanted to do was sell me her expensive products. She gave me a few samples (wash,cream, moisturiser) and told me I need to buy a sunscreen from her. After I told her I wasn't interested in buying anything today she promptly said "Alright well I don't mean to rush you out, but have a nice day" and turned and started talking in her ear piece, while I still was trying to ask her questions. I paid almost $200 to be there and not to be rushed out like that. I left the office in tears. I also threw out the products as it burned and smelt just like mouth wash. YUK. Her description on the website says "It's easy to see how Svetlana spreads positivity and is so uplifting to her patients and colleagues. She truly wishes to make people happy and we truly hope you'll meet her soon!". This is FAR from true from my experience. I have never ever had someone be so rude to me, especially when I open up about my insecurities and especially in a professional environment. If it wasn't for the lady being so rude to me I would have spent the almost $2,000 that everything was going to cost me. I went in here last week because my friend referred me to the doctor - saying he was the best lip guy in the city. of course this got me excited. it was a little far for me being in the granville area but I still needed to try this guy out. I went in to the clinic and was shocked at how crisp and professional it is. the whole bottom floor is the skinceuticals flagship store - I was in product junkie heaven. the girls greeted me warmly and directed me to the private elevator to the clinic. I loved how it made me feel like a celebrity! up I go - to the place where magic happens. the lobby on the second floor is absolutely gorgeous. very chic and new york. I felt like if I were a Housewife of NYC, this is where I would go. after my complimentary latte, his stunning and smiley assistant Jeannie came to get me. she brought me thru the halls of the very busy clinic into the room where he would be injecting me. she asked me a few questions and then dr.macgillivray came in. he asked me what I wanted and then took a look and my face, consulted with me a bit and really examined my face. I felt like he was a true artist and my face was a blank canvas for him. he said although i didnt really need anything he could see how a little bit more in the top and a bit in the center bottome could give me a sexy pout.... um YES! i'll take one!! he made me completely at ease and i knew i was in good hands. he explained the different types of fillers and suggested the juvederm with lidocaine which feels the smoothest and isnt as painful getting injected. the injection itself didnt feel fabulous but it was so quick, the end result is all I was thinking about. once it was over, I felt a little like a duck billed platypus but at least I was not frozen (I said I wanted to use ice instead of getting the injected freezing). he said I may experience some mild bruising but I can come back for a laser treatment that helps it go away! I asked him some more questions about other procedures and he was very informative, took his time answering all my questions (not like other doctors I have seen in the past who rush you in and out). when everything was done, jeannie took me to the product boutique where I got my makeup touched up so i didnt look blothcy and red. another flawless girl (I forgot her name oops)...she was so fun and easy to talk to. she further educated me on what to do and what not to do to help my skin (I'm 33 so I better start considering this more importanly) and also what I can use to help my lips look their best. she took my payment there as well and i really enjoyed how discreetly it was done - afterall, i dont need the world knowing my secrets. i never like leaving a doctors office feeling insecure and that I need tons of work done but they made me feel beautiful and educated and that I have options. it actually turned out to be a very empowering experience and I LOVE my lips!! he truely is vancouver lip master!! read more

For years I had been going to another high end skin care studio but had become a bit frustrated. How much filler can they keep injecting. After a bit of searching, Project Skin was recommended to me by a friend who was a client. I paid the consultation fee, which they apply towards any treatments, and went for a consultation. I appreciated their discreet entrance right to their lobby. In the lobby, reception was polite and professional...guess they didn't know me so friendly couldn't be expected on the first visit. Lobby was a bit clinical...but this is a medical facility of sorts so I appreciated the cleanness that the atmosphere projected. At the consultation, I met with Jeanie and Dr. McGillivray. Initially I was cautious but because of my past experiences felt I knew the right questions to ask and had some expectation of what a good treatment proposal is. We discussed various treatment options and agreed to a series of treatments. Over the next few weeks, I undertook the planned treatments and I have to say I am very happy. These guys have exceeded my expectations. All the staff (especially Janice) are very professional and clearly experts at what they do. You can see that the people who work there actually love what they do. It isn't just a job. They take pride in their work and I sense they would take failure very personally. Dr. Macgillivray....well he is an artist....no more needs to be said. Friendly, almost humorous (well he tries), but very professional and very good at what he does. This isn't just a business to him. It is a passion. What was most amazing was that because I paid for all my treatments up front (won't lie...not cheap), I was offered an excellent discount and some very generous free treatments. Project Skin isn't cheap. But it stands out as an an example that in life you get what you pay for. It also stands for an excellent business case of how to build competitive advantage and excel above your peers. If you want excellent, professional service by a team of dedicated and passionate people, state of the art equipment and cutting edge knowledge of new skin care treatments, this is your place. I recently went to this place because I was told it was one of the best. I was also recommended Dr. McGillivray for my fillers. The consult went great, I thought wow this team is so professionals and really knows their stuff.. I was told to achieve the look I desired I would need 4 syringes. At almost $700 each I thought you know what I only have one face and I don't want to go somewhere else and have them mess it up. So I went ahead with it. The day of the procedure after 4 syringes I saw absolutely NO difference. In the middle of the procedure they started assuring me it looks great but I could tell that they were saying that because something was not right. They then said you know what you might want to come back for one more. I looked in the mirror and saw NOTHING different. He then turned around and said you were expecting more weren't you? Ummm yes you assured me more you jerk! (I thought that in my head) He then tried assuring me it would look fuller in 2 weeks when it settled. I went home and immediately showed my family and friends.. They were shocked that I spent close to $3000 and my face looked exactly the same. 2 weeks later it still looked the same. I will never go back. I was too embarrassed to go back with it being such a "upscale" place. I talked to the friends who recommended me going here and they also found that Dr.McGillivray ripped them off when charging for 2 viles, not using the full 2 and then giving them some bullshit explanation of how "it all works out in the end" this guy is a scammer!! read more
