I went to the Golden State Tattoo expo with my wife and granddaughter who aspires to be a tattoo artist. Walking around we saw Master Mike and his crew. They were gracious and talked to my granddaughter about tattooing. I talked to Ben about a piece I was interested in. Since I live in Sylmar, we agreed to do it at the studio. He wanted to take his time with it . We set an appointment. He had my piece ready and I could see the detail. Master Mike was right across from us working on a large piece as well as another artist working on a large back piece. Ben was gracious as well as the whole crew. Ben was asking if I was comfortable as he began to lay down the ink. He brought lunch for me and the other clients were treated to lunch as well. They treated my granddaughter very nicely as well. Came all the way from across the world alone (Australia) to come to the famous Inkfiendart to get a back piece from my favourite tattoo artist Jay inkfiend aka Jason. I had 4 sessions in a row booked. I was seriously blown away by the warm hospitality and family culture there, I was made to feel so welcome. I already loved their work but to finally see the tattoos in person it looks 10x better. While I was there Jay printed his design for me which blew my mind. It was WAY better then had ever imagined!! Personality wise, Jay is a super humble guy, he literally works non stop and blasted my back peice and always made sure I wasn't in too much pain. He always offered me food and drink and really made me feel at home. His line work and shading is by far the best I've ever seen, and I've been to many tattoo expos and seen artists from all around the world. But trust me, jays work is on another level. Special shoutout to my boy Tony inkfiend, I saw him tattooing clients everyday and his tattooing detail was mind blowing. Never even saw him take a break, he is truly a work machine. Hello!! Today, I had the honor of getting my second tattoo with Richard. He's a king when it comes to back pieces. I waited 8 months to get my back tatted and it was sooo worth it! Richard even bought me lunch and enjoyed a bomb ass meal with me. The tattoo came out dope. The session was from 10am to 6pm and Rich constantly made sure I was okay and not in too much pain. He gave me short breaks when I asked and was very patient with me. (my pain tolerance is not the greatest yet he still worked with me) All in all, this company (Inkfiend Art Sudio) is awesome and I 10/10 would recommend someone get their tattoo done here because all the workers are super professional and skilled. This was my first ever tattoo experience and the man at the front desk ( who's name I forgot ) was so nice and patient with me. I ask a lot of questions just to be prepared for everything . Literally the best group of people I have ever met! I knew that while I was in LA I was going to have a couple free day where I had nothing planned so I decided why not go get something done since I couldn't get in with my regular artist back in Seattle. Haven't been back here since 2006 with my sisters; so that's about 15 years ago! Now that I live down the street from here, I spontaneously wanted to get some tattoos done. Waited in line for 12 hours on Friday the 13th to get a couple simple tattoos but was told when I got to the front (11pm) that they were going to close n not allow any more people in. The line was still around the corner at 11pm and the artists didn't care. No one from the shop wanted to come out n talk to us or offer any sort of rain check to the customers still waiting in line. I took 2 years to find the perfect artist for my dragon piece. A girlfriend of mine suggested we try this place. Met Ken and gave him 4 pictures and told him my ideas. Like magic he sketched out my vision..... . We booked and he did my piece in 6ish hours. Love it. A few years later.... Tried to book with Ken but he had moved on. I got my all my tattoos done by Alma. I first got 2 small tattoo done by her back in December 2018 and been going ever since. I love how she tries to make sure you're completely satisfied before she starts. If theres anything you want to change she is more than willing to do so. I've gotten so many compliments on my tattoo it's crazy. I also love how she doesn't rush to finish and get to the next customer. If she is behind she will message or call you to let you know before you come in. My husband and couple of my other friends also go to her to get work done. I will not recommend this shop. They only can do simple tattoo. The price was okay , the tattoo outlet was off from the original pictures, when we tried to point it out , David just said he is not finish yet. We don't have to say much, see my tattoo . The sakura is totally different. It has black outline.................... Since Mike left his contact and he said he will fix it , we have been contacting him since 1/31. But his answer is always " let me check when I get home " , we finally give up on this and not willing to let him to do anymore. After my first tattoo experience at another LA tattoo shop, I didn't have very high expectations. It was super impersonal and I just thought that's how it was. Inkfiend completely changed my perspective. My friends and I were visiting LA two weeks ago. We were looking for walk-ins for tattoos and most places couldn't accommodate us. We found out that Israel and Alma were doing walk-ins and checked out their art on their Instagrams. On top of that, we noticed that Alma's Instagram mentioned that she was LGBTQ and as a group of queer women, we were HYPED. Special shoutout to Master Mike, the owner, for noticing that my friend Lauren was getting lightheaded and on the verge of fainting during her session. He provided her with water, yummy candy, and plenty of rest before Israel resumed his work. My other friend and I were blessed to be tatted by the amazing ALMA Nogales. Alma took a lot of time and attention to draw up an image that I found on the internet. She even noticed that the constellation part was actually inaccurate and corrected it! Thank GOD she noticed it! She also went over my "Meow." stick and poke tattoo. The session was virtually painless and I felt that Alma genuinely took the time to get to know me. I was feeling pretty lightheaded that day because I didn't have much to eat and when Israel asked if we wanted anything from a local taco shop down the street, my ears perked. I didn't have enough cash for both the tattoos and food so Alma covered me and bought me tacos. BLESS!!! I will definitely be coming back and requesting Alma for my next piece. Came here to get my second tattoo. And I could not be any happier with my decision. Jay was my artist, this guys work is insane. I was suppose to get a half sleeve with a girl warrior and a foo dog but since my chest piece (from another artist) was kind of covering my arm. He suggested I get a full sleeve to see the whole artwork. Or get it on the other arm. I went with the full sleeve. Jay worked on the fly, instead of one foo dog he added 3 foo dogs, and a lotus flower to make the sleeve look full. The details were mind blowing. And mannn I do not regret it. This piece is dope as hell. I really love it. Also all The guys at inkfiend are all super cool and welcoming. Rich (other artist at shop) said that I was going to see a difference between my first tattoo and the tattoo Jay did on me. And he wasn't wrong. There's levels to this. And Jay is top tier. I wanted an Asian style tattoo incorporated with my fav childhood memories. I gave Israel my idea and some reference and let him do his magic. Mike is the master of shading! Super friendly dude specializing in asian art. I just had a phoenix done by him with purple&pink finishes and it's gorgeous! I booked an appointment with him about a month or so in advance - not bad compared to other joints with equally comparable artists. I had originally wanted to go to Guru Tattoo in San Diego - their work is awesome. I emailed the main guy in the shop, Aaron, but he had a 2-yr waiting list and specific restrictions due to a huge demand for his work... SO I decided to go local. My friends have pieces from Silverlake, Resurrection, My Tattoo, and InkFiend. I'm lucky, get to pick and choose, and Inkfiend was the obvious choice. I got here so excited to get tats done on my fingers. I was thinking "hey, it's a simple design and it's so small, what could go wrong?" Well, it was horrible. When I got there, I was greeted by Israel (the guy that did my tat). I first talked about a tattoo coverup. I showed him my old tat and asked if I could get a dreamcatcher for a coverup. He was not sure about it so he asked the other guy at the shop (by then, I should have realized that the guy might not be that good). The other guy told me I could do feathers and it would be charged by the hour. He told me it could take 3-4hrs and said that Israel's rate is $100/hr. I was fine with the info but I didn't have the 4hrs it needs at that time so I said I'll just come back for it (good thing. else, I know I would have regretted that too.) I then asked to just do tats I want on my fingers. I showed Israel the 2 designs for the 2 tats. He quoted me $200 for both. I was thinking "Damn! I thought your rate is $100/hr. These shouldn't take you 2hrs?!" So, I asked how much for just 1? He told me the plane tat would be $80. So, I agreed wishing that the tat would turn out great for the price I paid. Hell, I was wrong. I paid $100 ($80+$20 tip). And I'm not even happy with it. The plane looks different from the one I showed him. It looks fatter so it looks like a shark instead of a plane (which my friend did say "what is that? a shark?" and I didn't even tell her anything). The tail of the plane is crooked, and the wings are not proportional. This is so not worth the $100 I paid. The tat artist did offered his phone number and told me to contact him once it gets healed and need fixing. He said he would fix it for free. But, I'm afraid to still let him do the fixing though. read more

Got my first chest piece and full sleeve tattoo from Richard. Setting up an appointment with him was very easy through text. I gave him an idea of what I wanted with some pictures as reference. Then he came up with his own sketch and idea but obviously it would be too hard to give me a sketch of it since it will be going over my arm and chest so it was understandable. Each appointment required a 100$ deposit. Once I got there he greeted me and told me in full detail about what to expect and how long the session was. Richard was a very humble guy and extremely knowledgeable in what he was doing. We took a break every few hours so I could use the restroom or just break from the pain lol. After the sessions he has a list of things you need to do in order to keep the tattoo in good shape. He also gave me a tub of after care which I applied on three times a day and afterwards I moisturize my piece 6 to 8 times a day in order it keep it moisturized. I work at nights so sometimes I would have to come after work to a session and he would offer to buy me food to keep me from passing out haha. He is very easy to talk to and he is not cocky at all. I would highly recommend coming to get your first tattoo or more tattoos by Richard. He is pricy but hey, these tattoos are permanent and you want the best. read more
