Where do I even start?! I've been rocking with Adrian since 2019. But I've actually known about Adrian and his tattoo work since 2016! I served in the Marine Corps and while coming out of the showers I saw a fellow Marine with a beautifully done Jesus piece, I asked who did his art, and lo and behold it was Adrian! Now as of October 11th, 2025 we have finally completed my arm sleeve! I'm nothing, but thankful to Adrian! Throughout the years he's been patient, kind, fun to be around, and truly dedicated and masterful when it comes to his art! Before this location was fully established Adrian actually did my first tattoo in an AirBnb! He came up from SoCal, and since I was from the Bay Area and he was tattooing on his visit, I jumped at the opportunity and never looked back. Since 2019, I've come down from San Francisco where I'm from and have gotten a tattoo every year, 2020, 2021 out here in SoCal with Adrian. But I stopped for a few years due to the pandemic and low funds. But it's 2025 and the hiatus is gone and the arm sleeve is complete! I got nothing, but high praise for Adrian, his art, his dedication to his craft speaks for itself. And in my opinion, he's worth every single penny! A tattoo will be on you for a life time, don't be cheap with yourself! I really can't recommend him enough, it takes a lot of trust to let someone put permanent ink on you for a lifetime, but when it comes to Adrian that decision comes easy. Every tattoo I've gotten from him has been a banger! But it's much easier to show y'all than tell y'all! 2019: Lion 2020: Hooded Angel slaying Satan 2021: Roses and Thorns 2025: Satan as Leviathan and a simple man facing him. My 2020 piece is a metaphor indicating that even you can conquer your own demons. (Hence why the angel has a hood, so you can picture yourself under it). My 2025 piece is a callback to my 2020 piece, and reverse dynamic where Satan is much more powerful than the man facing him, but that shouldn't stop you from facing your demons! This has been a long read, but hopefully it helps y'all make a decision if Grey Theory Studio and Adrian is worth it!

I have being here a couple of times & if im being honest I keep coming back for more ink. Adrian has been a great tattoo artist over all. Keep in mind that i have to drive 2 hours & a half to get to his shop but it doesn't matter because every trip has been so worth it. Him & his team are great! They are very responsive and communicate well. Their shop is always clean & the music playlist is always a plus. If you're thinking of booking with him, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you to do it. You're not going to regret it i can promise you!!! ill leave you proof of adrian's work, by the way This one i get lots of complements

After alot of research on alot of shops in the area. I felt like grey theory had the vibes I was after. All the artists are so talented. I loved how everyone in the shop had input on the placement on the pieces before they were pasted on you. The shop environment was just so professional and extremely clean. Daniel is just an outstanding artist. He exceded my expectations on my hand piece. I expressed a few ideas, and let Daniel run with it. He did So darn good I had to make another appointment to get my head tattooed in a couple weeks.

Easily my best experience getting tattooed. I came in for Friday the 13th flash tattoos. These two came out for a total of $200! Vide!! Chill, clean. Everyone in there is cool. Entry is in the back and in the cut. I think that helps with the cool vibe. All artist seems the real deal. I had a simple tatt (compared to everyone else.) I walked in, and they found a way to slip me in. Youngblood, Jerry hooked me up. Took time to make sure the print was right, and it then took the time to make sure it was laying on the arm correctly. Will be back. read more

Just wanted to give this shop a nice review. All of the artists were tattooing while I was getting my piece done and it was a super chill vibe in the space. There is a LOT of room in the shop and it has a great wood work and brick decor that gives it a nice cool feel. A very special shout out to Daniel who tattooed me. Super chill guy with a great soft spoken nice demeanor. He does great work and I'm super happy with the chest piece that he did on me. Amazing Experience! My friend and I came in to get matching tattoos that are about 2 inches, line work with some shading. Our artist was Lupe and she was incredibly talented and great to talk to. She made suggestions and really worked with us to get the placement and look exactly how we wanted. The space itself is very clean and large. Parking was right outside and pasadena is a lovely spot. Everyone was very professional and made the experience seamless. Even when I sent in my appointment request at 9pm a few weeks ago, I got an email back within 30 min! I was totally not expecting to hear back that night but they got me an appointment fast. Highly recommend Lupe and grey theory studio! read more

I hardly ever write bad reviews, but I had a terrible experience, and so did the people in the waiting area. I made an appointment and deposit 4 months in advance. When I showed up for my appointment 15 minutes early my artist (Adrian) was not there yet. I waited in the lobby for an hour and still nothing. I asked the person working there if there was an issue and they replied, "I'm not sure, but he is probably just running late". I can understand 15 minutes late but an hour and no update? Worker said, "I'll give him a call" . The worker proceeded to do absolutely nothing and just chilling on the phone. I got up and just left. I lost 80 minutes of my time and $150. This place needs to be investigated because there was another person waiting just as long as myself and looks like someone in the comments had a similar problem. I can only imagine those who didn't care and didn't leave a review. read more

When I was there, I personally did not see any visible sanitizing process. I saw the piercer remove the jewelry directly from the bag, and from my viewpoint, it did not appear that it was rinsed or sanitized in any way before being used If the business is certain that their sanitizing procedures were followed and are confident that the cameras would show this during both my friends & my jewelry change, we request that they share the footage with us. If the video clearly demonstrates that we are more than happy to take down or update our reviews. I was greeted by the nice lady in the front who helped us pick a nose ring. My review is mainly for the piercer, when I sat in the chair, he didn't greet me and I saw him grab the jewelry and rinse it under the faucet for 2 seconds. He never washed his hands and he put gloves on dirty hands. He then proceeded to remove my current jewelry, and never swabbed my piercing hole with anything. He just began placing the new ring which I never saw him sanitize. Through out the whole process not once was anything sanitized. He also seemed off like he was a drug user. My friend had the same experience and also co firmed she never saw him sanitize anything when he was servicing me. NEVER AGAIN, I regret coming here. I hope I don't get infected.

It was a botanical piece and it was flat. Not what I had drawn. Unfortunately, it was on my back so I couldn't see it. Shannon totally fixed this piece. Recolored it. Shaded it and made it come alive. And it only took her 2.5hrs! She is that experienced. That skilled. We've spent close to 35hrs together now. I now have a stunning girdle, gorgeous Arabic line work weaving, a delicate back piece, side scroll saying in Sanskrit cursive and random exquisite butterflies all over my torso. Each step was well planned and a collaboration. Her background in serious Art Design schools shows. Go see her book! It is just mind boggling how many styles she has produced...Greyscale, abstract, gothic, photorealism, whimsical, tribal, ethnic, white, modern so many more that I don't know how to describe. I hope this doesn't sound too, "Sales-Pitchy", but it's my honest review: From the moment I walked into the shop, everything just felt solid. Clean setup, zero ego, and the kind of focus you want from someone putting permanent art on your body. Adrian was locked in from the start. Professional, precise, and clearly someone who takes pride in his craft. The tattoo I got last night is easily the best work I've had done. The detail, the line work, the overall flow, was top tier. Adrian knows what he's doing and doesn't waste time proving it. He made sure everything was right before we started and stayed dialed in the whole session. No weird tension, no awkward moments, just a smooth, steady experience with a guy who's clearly mastered his lane. Even though Adrian was the one doing my piece, I took a minute to check out what the other artists were working on too. I'm so glad I came across this studio while searching for a shop that could do realism with a blend of anime. When I reached out, I was thrilled to receive such a positive reply to the style I wanted. I love how easy it was to book. I received a confirmation the day I made the appointment and a day before my appointment. The studio is conveniently located across from Pasadena Community College, which offers plenty of parking. Although it mentions one-hour parking, the attendant assured me it was fine to stay longer. The entrance to Grey Theory Studio is at the back, so after parking, just follow the signs that say "Tattoo"--they're arrows guiding you right to the entrance. Avoid the mistake I made of wandering around; if you miss the signs, just look up for a neon "Tattoo" sign on the second floor to help you out. The entrance door clearly displays the studio's name, so you won't miss it. The staff and artists were incredibly friendly, and I appreciated the time and care my artist, Adrian, took in customizing my design based on my preferences. read more

Met Adrian Lazaro when he came up to San Jose to tattoo people outside his shop and been going to Grey Theory ever since. His work is the best I ever seen and will work with you to get your idea down exactly right. He doesn't cut corners or rush any appointment. Also has to be the chillest shop I ever been too. This is definitely the only tattoo shop I have felt comfortable in. It's open so you don't feel so close to other artists, it's clean and comfortable.
