The first tattoo turned out great and covered most of the scarring. He asked me to return to finish the area around my bellybutton, and I did. Up to that point, everything was going well and my body confidence was beginning to return; it was a great feeling. I then planned to continue the work onto my chest. We scheduled an appointment for Nov 1. He asked me to send concepts, and I sent him everything he requested. He told me he was working on ideas and might need more time, but he never reached out again, so I assumed the appointment was still confirmed. Strike 1: On the day of the appointment he did not show. Another artist at the shop called him on my behalf when he failed to arrive. He apologized and acknowledged that I had driven about thirty minutes each way for nothing. During that call I asked if one week was enough time to design the concept. He said yes, and I asked him to send it when finished. Strike 2: More than a week passed with no update. I reached out to ask about the design. I felt like if i never reached out, he would not initiate communication. He replied that he would have it that evening or the next day. This was another failed commitment. Strike 3: I waited again, he never sent the design on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. By that time, it had been over a month from when I scheduled the Nov 1 appointment, it was now Nov 22nd. At that point I told him I would need to find another artist because the process had become too unreliable. I cannot say if this reflects Eden Tattoo Gallery as a whole or if this was specific to this artist. What is clear is that my time was not respected and communication and follow through were not priorities. It is disappointing because his art was good. I had already spent about $1,000 for both tattoos, including a $100 tip, and I was prepared to invest thousands more into future work. Reliability and professionalism matter to me, and unfortunately that standard was not met.

I met Ryan and let him know what I was looking for. He had an opening the next day and drew up a very nice piece. Wow! It came out so much better than I had originally imagined it! Vivid tattoos were offering Friday the 13th specials on flash or custom and wanted to check them out. I arrived early as I wasn't sure if there'd be a long line. I have been to places b4 where the lines were ridiculous. Luckily, I arrived right when they opened and there was 1 only couple ahead of me. Of course, by the time I was in the chair more and more people had started coming in.I showed the artist Yesi, my design and she drew it out and made sure it was to my liking. As she was prepping to start of course fear crept in as it's been awhile since my last tattoo and I asked if my shoulder area was going to hurt much. She was kind and told me how she's pretty gentle handed, but if at anytime I needed her to stop, just let her know. That eased my nerves and once she became, I was like... wait?! I barely felt anything.... even when she was doing some shading the pressure was fine. When she told me she was finished I was shocked, by how truly gentle handed she was.
