Went here yesterday for lunch - sadly didn't get lunch price since it was the weekend but still $33ish for all you can eat was so worth it. Everything was delicious, especially the spicy rice cakes. Maybe some of the best I've had and I go to a lot of kbbq places. The spicy bulgogi kind of looked like ground beef but was still yummy. They had so many side options compared to some other places. The server was very attentive since we had a table of 6 and were constantly asking for things and he was very patient for us. Wish I got his name to compliment him on here. The restaurant was decorated in a cute way. Hope they bring a location to Virginia soon since it was kind of a far trek. This might be my new favorite place to get kbbq. One of my favorite Korean bbq places that I travel to! I love the service the second you walk in. They always set up your table for you when you arrive. The price for all you can eat is $33, so you can't really beat that. They bring out a very reasonable amount of portions but they never check time so take your time and don't feel rushed. The service is phenomenal! All of the servers are fun, nice, funny, and so personable with their tables. I've been a few times and I always have a great time with who ever I come with. Also, the place is very clean and very well decorated as you can see from the pictures. I never have a problem whenever I come here. Also, parking is easy with the mall parking lot. As a regular KBBQ fan I really enjoyed Jongro. Service was great from the host to bartender to server. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Decor was fun, bright, but cool and inviting. Could definitely see this as a weekend eats or hangout spot. Even more so being located at the mall near the movie theater. Meat options and sides were great! First KBBQ I've been to with fried chicken, spicy rice cake, and fish cake as bon chon included with AYCE. Probably the widest variety of meat I've seen as well all for $30 per person. Will be back to try out some of the other sides and higher quality meat options. read more

I'll say that I was pleasantly surprised with the food and (especially) the service during our recent Jongro BBQ visit. Although the restaurant is pretty large, I highly recommend making a reservation because we had a 20-minute wait even though at least half of the tables were unoccupied. I'm not saying a 20-minute wait is bad, but we went on a lazy Sunday so I imagine the wait time would have been longer had we visited on a Friday or Saturday night. For about $35 bucks, you will have 90 minutes to eat as much as your heart (or stomach) desires with a nice selection of pork, beef, chicken, and seafood items. Overall, I though all of our servings were quite delicious, and the portions were quite generous. I'll say that the three layer pork belly, soy garlic pork bulgogi, ribeye steak, mango beef bulgogi and the honey butter calamari were my favorites. *Yes, I know that's a lot of favorites, but it was hard to chose 1-3 favorites. ;) * When ordering the honey butter calamari, I highly recommend that you eat it pretty fast bc it's not so great once it cools off. I thought the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress was quite friendly and make wonderful recommendations. Also, she constantly changed our grill, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very inviting with the various display of Korean momentos. Honestly, it felt like being in someone's home rather than a restaurant. Since we visited in November, the restaurant also had a lot of Christmas decorations. Also, I thought the restaurant had a decent air filtering system because we did not smell like a grill and/or smoked meat upon leaving the restaurant. For our party of two, we were informed that the AYCE deal is for 90 minutes; however, I'm not sure if the restaurant will extend the time depending on the party size. I don't know, but I think 90 minutes might be kind of tight if you have a party larger than 4 folks. Jongro KBBQ is THE spot for Korean BBQ & will certainly not leave you disappointed at all. And their awesome price point of their all you can eat 'Ayce' - $31 per person will get you endless options of pork, beef, chicken, and seafood! Within each protein option, you'll have the choice of a soy garlic sauce, spicy, butter, mango habanero... and all with zero comprise on the cut of the meat! My favourites yesterday were the rib eye, honey butter calamari and the spicy pork belly. They also have all you can eat with their sides, which include fried rice, corn cheese, plain rice, Korean fried chicken... amongst a bunch of other options. I just so happened to go on a Tuesday, when they have ALL DAY half priced drinks. Which was a much needed surprise after a long day at work. Wheaton Jongro is really good! I would say it's better than iron age... They actually have the rice cakes and so much more. Nicely dressed salad, kimchi, fried rice, cheese and corn are all part of the $31 ayce meal. The meat tasted good too. The service was average to other kbbq places but they kept the meats coming. This place is huge so hopefully they have more servers there when it's packed. I would recommend this place for kbbq. My cousin and I decided to try this place for a late dinner as this is one of the few restaurants that are open after 10pm. Overall, I thought the price ($31 per person for AYCE) is fair and the taste was good. The best cuts were definitely ribeye steak, normal and spicy briskets, octopus, and the different bulgogis. These were tender, juicy, and delicious! Special shout-out to the yellow sauce that they put on the steak and octopus; this unknown house sauce definitely elevated the meats' taste. The pork belly, top blade steak, and pork shoulder steak were only so so. These cuts tasted were a bit disappointing in texture and taste. If I were to come back, I will definitely stick to the tastier selections. A side note on the service: 1) it was 10pm when we got there and there were 2 waiters serving four different tables, 2) thank god I can grill my meat because the servers were either too inattentive or too busy to do the grilling for us, and 3) they filled up the dipping sauces and banchan fairly quickly when asked. I'm totally fine with grilling the meats but I don't think inexperienced KBBQ diners would have enjoyed the service my cousin and I received. read more

I had been wanting to try this place that opened at Wheaton Plaza Mall about a year ago- this past Friday we made it so. They don't take reservations if your party is under 8 people, but we didn't have a problem getting a table. They set everything up before you're seated- all the sides, the sauces and the grill. We did the AYCE and it did not disappoint! We had the spicy calamari, the shrimp, the ribeye and a few of the bulgogi's. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The server was attentive and kept coming back to make sure our meat was cooked properly and we had everything we needed. I wish there had been something green anywhere on our table- any kind of veggie- but who am I trying to eat salad at a Korean BBQ place! We will definitely go back- it was a great evening and I'm really rooting for this place to do well- I know traditionally restaurants in that area behind the Mall haven't done great. I'm super excited to have Jongro BBQ in Wheaton - it's a fantastic addition to the many awesome restaurants we already have. The all you can eat lunch option was well worth the money - they immediately brought us about 6 different banchan (small plates) of kimchi, pickled radish, bean sprouts, and other fun stuff, as well as salad. For the two of us, they recommended starting with three meats - we got the soy garlic beef bulgogi, the spicy pork belly, and butter chicken. As you probably know, it cooks on the grill right in front of you. When it's done, you chow down and can also dip it into a variety of sauces that are provided. In later rounds, we got the mango beef bulgogi and the cheese corn as well. The soy garlic beef bulgogi was SO GOOD! Don't get me wrong, the spicy pork belly and mango bulgogi were also pretty damn good and I'd eat those again too. The butter chicken was just...chicken. i came to Jongro last month with my wife late after the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie opening night at AMC Wheaton and we were very impressed. The wait was long They let us sit at the bar and we got seated in less time than expected. The drinks are great and the BBQ is the best we've had of any place. This restaurant has a beautiful 1970s decor and homage. There's quite a few Korean antiques and decorations that contributed to a great atmosphere! The bar was beautiful! All you can eat bbq was straightforward to order off the menu, and the meat was extremely good quality. We went for dinner, and even though it was a little busy, we got great service, and the servers were extremely attentive and helped cook and cut the meat. If you're going here for the first time: I would recommend the bulgogi, brisket, and spicy pork belly (if you're into spicy things). You also get unlimited side dishes to include rice! It's an affordable, convenient place to get AYCE KBBQ with friends. The meats are OK quality, similar to that of Iron Age. At around $30 for the AYCE, I can't really complain too much. The sauces provided were both pretty sweet. I asked the server for sesame oil, salt & pepper, garlic, and jalapeños. They are not provided unless asked. Brisket - great! Thinly sliced. Spicy pork belly - good too, not spicy at all. Mango habanero chicken - tender and juicy but barely any mango habanero flavor, slightly spicy. Rib eye - ok. I preferred the brisket actually. Soy garlic pork bulgogi - ok. I'm not crazy about bulgogi but figured I'd give it a try. Honey Butter Squid - not great. It was sweet, not buttery, no flavor of squid. Corn cheese - way too sweet. Steamed egg was delicious! This is the first time I've had it where it needs to cook on the stove rather than come out cooked. Ban chan & salad were solid. A lot of things were a little too sweet for my taste. Maybe that's what the kids are into these days. Who knows? Excited for more AYCE kbbq spots in MD! I went with my family for dinner ayce. The menu has a variety of meats and stews. My favorite meats were the beef brisket, shrimp, and thick pork belly. Their Potato pancake with honey, is also delish! It does get greasy and heavy but to share and have a couple bites, it's perfect! One thing I was disappointed about was the corn cheese. It was watery and overly sweet. The service initially was slow, had to re-ask for things often. However I did appreciate them changing out the grill between the meats, because the pan got burnt pretty quickly. I went on a weekday, so it was pretty empty. It's pretty spacious and can seat small and big parties. I would recommend its worth a try, and try all the different options they have to offer! read more

NOT A BAD SPOT, located outside of Wheaton Mall!! I rated it a 3 but more so 3.5. I was part of a large group of 9 people on a weeknight for dinner around 730 PM. They offer an AYCE deal which is such a great option for large parties like this. One huge downside is that they don't offer as many side dishes that other Korean BBQ spots do such as various soups, rice cakes, fried chicken etc so that was disappointing. They also only provided a small personal size tin of steamed egg which pretty much was a one biter and had to be placed on the grill so that took time/space. We did get the one other option of the cheese corn and I'd say, DO NOT bother getting it. Once cooked, it was so watery, the cheese did not stick and the corn was tough. At the same time, the AYCE was only about $30, so take what you can. The meat options weren't bad either. They offered the usual chicken, beef, and pork options with some extra marinaded options. They do have honey butter calamari, which I have to say, I have had better elsewhere. The butter just melted off and the flavor did not stick much. I think the brisket here was too thick imo, I prefer the more thinly sliced cuts so it was a little tough. The plain pork belly and rib eye steak was probably the better options on the menu. We had one server, which he was AMAZING! But I was confused as to why he was left to serve a group of 9 on his own when it seemed like there were plenty of other servers available. Given that, he deserved a 5 star rating. He was prompt and catered to our needs as fast as he could. The interior is nicely decorated though. Such a nice little addition to the Wheaton/Silver Spring area of foods. The place is huge, plenty of space and it was giving reply 1988 vibes. I totally loved it as a fan of that show (who watched it so many times) this was a nice little reminder of it. They were wearing the Pe uniform just like in the kdrama! First off: Our server she said she was new, But she was so great. Very attentive to everything. She made sure we are taken care of. She was very friendly. They were my favorite kind of meat. Pork belly was great! Side dishes were good especially the corn and cheese so YUM. I liked the onion/cucumber banchan too. 4.5 stars Visiting Jongro BBQ was our adventure from northern VA. Jongro BBQ is attached to Wheaton mall but it does not have a direct entrance from the mall. Surprisingly, this place also offers outdoor seating. The interior looks like a good mix of Korean barbecue place and Korean street bar, Pocha. Very spacious and good open spot. The price for all you can eat for weekend (same as weekdays dinner) is $30. It has a good variety of marinated meat selection and only seasoned. The meat quality I thought it was a lot better especially brisket compared to the ones that we live close by. I hope this place last longer and hopefully opens another one in Virginia. One thing that I really like about this place besides meat quality and good service is the grill. It has a new technology built in. The ventilator is build around the grill where I don't have to worry about smelling like meat and feeling greasy. Not worth the money. 1. The menu selection is much smaller compare to other Korean BBQ places. 2. Food is incredibly disappointing. Steak had no flavor. The thin sliced meat was dry, and the spicy bulgogi was just thinly sliced beef with some spicy sauce drizzled on top. Not marinated. The honey butter calamari is an abomination that needs to be remove from the menu. The calamari itself has no taste whatsoever, and the sweetness of the marinade does not go will with seafood at all. 3. The "butter" they drizzled on top of the rib-eye looks incredibly unappetizing 4. Sides were an after thought. The steam egg had no flavor 5. The side dishes were few and boring 6. Service is slow even on a pretty quiet night. Decor is cute, so two stars. Unless management actually try to manage, I think the place will get outcompeted relatively soon. New K-kid in town! Tucked away on the south side of Westfield Wheaton near DSW, next to a garage. You must enter from the parking lot rather than from the mall. Inside is high ceilinged and dark,but down lighting makes it easy to see what you're cooking and eating. Obligatory K-pop at a moderate level that allows conversation. Patio looked like it was being set up as a tiki bar. We got the $31 AYCE. Our server Brandon was very helpful in keeping us supplied with food and occasionally cooking and cutting. The menu is a bit different than other KBBQ joints I've been to. Several sides that are usually extra are included, but japchae glass noodles are extra. Your dining experience will depend on your choice of meats and dishes. Some were excellent, some mundane. Five bahn chan, fish cake, bean sprouts,pickled thinly sliced daikon radish,potatoes, and of course kimchi. All good but not outstanding. Stars of the meal: spicy pork bulgogi, brisket, rib eye steak, spicy beef bulgogi. Wish we'd known better: shrimp were shell and head on, seasoning didn't penitrate, messy to eat. KFC was just crunchy nuggets. Calamari good but could have used more kick. Corn chowder bland. Cheese corn also could have used more seasoning but was fun to twirl like fondue. Butter chicken also bland. Biggest disappointments: no galbi. Spicy pork belly nowhere close to the meat candy it should have been. Full bar if you want to get your drink on, lots of exotic choices. I have to say I was disappointed. My husband and I have had better. Maybe we will return another time with different friends and order some appetizers too but we aren't in a hurry to go back. My gripes about the place were: 1. had to cook our own meat, 2. no lettuce to wrap the meat, 3. would've liked more vegetables, and 4. cheap wooden chopsticks. One thing I was really confused about was that there weren't any lettuce to wrap the meat around. I've been to many KBBQ places and they all had lettuce on a plate. I didn't ask the server, but I didn't see lettuce at other tables either. I ate my meat with rice and some banchan. They provide two dipping sauces along with four banchan dishes (potato salad, sliced radish, kimchi, and fish cake) and a lettuce salad, and if you want to swap the dipping sauces out for other sauces on their menu, it'd be $1. You enter the restaurant from outside the mall. Go to the parking garage between JcPenney and Dick's. We enjoyed the ambience, and the space felt large. They kept one side of the restaurant closed off for now. We arrived at 6:30 on Saturday night, and were at first quoted 1 hour wait, so we decided to sit at the bar and ordered peach flavored soju (which tastes like peach schnapps), then somehow we got seated 10 minutes later! So maybe you want to stick around instead of leaving. Apparently this is the soft opening (ate on a Saturday night 3.19.22), so I don't know if my experience will change later on. I came here with my husband and another couple who had never experienced KBBQ before. You can view the menu online, the QR code was on the napkin box when we were seated. We chose AYCE (all you can eat for 27.99/per person) and selected 8 items. 8 items was plenty for the four of us. They also gave us a seafood pancake, which everybody at my table liked. We had to cook our own meat, which my husband was a bit annoyed about because he had to constantly watch the meat. We ordered Spicy pork bulgogi, seasoned pork shoulder steak, spicy chicken, mango habanero chicken, calamari, shrimp, and spicy beef bulgogi (2x). My friend who never had KBBQ was surprised to see the shrimp with heads still attached and she didn't want to peel the shell either, so people who are not familiar with KBBQ might be able to enjoy the place by going for some safer options like chicken, but I do think you have to be a bit adventurous. read more

This was one of the best Korean bbq places I've ever been to with all a honesty. I am no amateur at going to Korean bbq places. I've spent 8 years in Los Angeles and nothing reached the delight as much as this place did for me. Just look at the condiments in the picture. The reason there are no other pictures is because I was so freaking excited I actually forgot. They even cook it for you! Overall I liked the Jongro atmosphere and the Spicy Pork Belly, steamed egg, and corn cheese were tasty. We got the AYCE for $30 per person and I thought it was pretty fair. For certain meats, you might want to ask a few times - the pork belly portion was very small, but the spicy pork belly was probably twice as much. You can also ask for more dipping sauce (ssamjang & sesame oil w/ salt) as well as garlic, jalapeños, and lettuce for wraps. The seating area is very open and the benches are cool. The benches are big, but can move around a little. The shikhye (sweet rice drink) at the end tasted fine but was almost comically small in portion. The picture shows two combined. We decided to give this place a try. My overall thoughts is: Definitely give this place a try. Their food is delicious..Thank me later! Definitely had enough tables to accommodate tons of customers. We came during the lunch hours so it wasn't too busy especially on a weekday. Each table appears to have a gas grill embedded in the table. Tables are fairly clean and very spacious to stretch out. We tried their all you can see (AYCE) option which provided a variety of proteins from chicken, beef, and pork. If you like sweet / flavorful meat, then definitely try their beef bulgogi. We enjoyed this meat plate very much. If you like spicy food, try their spicy beef bulgogi and their spicy pork belly. Packed with tons of flavor. They also have beef brisket which cooks literally in a minute if you like thin cut meats. They also have mango bulgogi, but we didn't try it since we were full. But will definitely try other flavors next time. They also provided us small dishes with our AYCE option which includes potatoes, kimchi, etc. Also comes with a side of rice. They also have steamed egg and cheese corn as side dishes in their AYCE option. Both of them are cooked directly in the grill. The staff here are extremely friendly and were very helpful. Actual rating is a 3.5 but I'm rounding up because the service was very good and there aren't many places to get cocktail soju around here. The BBQ itself is decent but not the best I've had. I was very surprised at the lack of galbi (LA or otherwise) on the AYCE menu. They do have a lot of choices but to me LA Galbi is a quintessential dish and I was very sad not to have it. There were four of us in our group, with one vegetarian. They kindly allowed our vegetarian friend not to be subject to the "everyone must do AYCE if anyone does" rule; she ordered a potato and honey pancake which was delicious as well as some japchae, which I didn't try but was a huge portion and she said was super yummy. The three of us omnivores in the group each selected a meat for the first round; spicy pork bulgogi, spicy beef bulgogi, and pork belly. They brought way too much of each of these to be honest, especially since two of us aren't very fond of pork belly. This left us unable to sample much else; asked for some KFC and some of the honey butter calamari but that's it. My favorite of the meats was the spicy beef bulgogi (my husband's selection); his favorite was the spicy pork bulgogi (my selection). They were both very close though - I just felt like the beef was a little less tricky to get cooked to the right level. I did try one bite of our friend's pork belly; it was pretty good but I just don't care for the fatty texture of that cut much. One thing I will mention is they served giant slabs of the pork belly so it was very difficult to get it to cook through. Eventually we cut it into little pieces ourselves. The KFC was misnamed. They are not in any way shape or form KFC. What they are are chicken tenders with a little non-spicy Korean-adjacent sauce. Skip these, they're not worth any real estate in your tummy. If you want KFC go to Mahdang in Rockville or Mike's Cheesesteak in Hillandale (not joking - that place is da bomb for Korean!). Don't waste time on it here. The honey butter calamari was not bad, I'd eat it if someone else ordered it again but I probably wouldn't have picked it myself. The food only came with a few banchan, but we liked the ones that there were. Bean sprouts, cabbage kimchi, fish cakes and I can't remember what the last one was because it's been a couple weeks. Usually KBBQ places have a better selection of banchan, tbh. I loved the lychee cocktail soju; my friend and I split an order which comes in a double-sized mason jar so it's definitely a sharable portion. I will note though, it wasn't nearly as potent as other soju I've had though; I think I drank about 2/3 of the serving and I was barely tipsy but normally soju knocks me on my ass pretty quickly (I'm a cheap date!). It's still not safe to drive if you're drinking it but if you're not looking to get smashed you and some non-driving friends could have some and you'd probably be fine. All in all - I would come back, I'd probably ask them to bring smaller portions of whatever meats we ordered first so we could try more. I'd definitely order that honey potato pancake thingy and soju. I just need to find another place to have loads of LA galbi. I am sad though; I left my hat by accident at my table and although I called them not 30 minutes later to ask about it, they said they hadn't found it and would call me if they did - but they never did. I think you can hate this price because "you get what you paid for" but this place is a good deal. It's not the best quality of meat for sure, but for $30+ all you can eat, this is definitely good quality! I went here first with my friends (9 people) and then again with my husband for a date. Both times we did all-you-can-eat dinner. The first time with friends we even ordered a lot of drinks and soju, how fun was it! We didn't have to wait but we went there on a Sunday night and it was quite late around 9pm. The food is good and the waiter is efficient and friendly. We had a good time! Even it was very close to closing time, the waiters were not annoyed and served us till the end. Overall great experience. The second time with just me and my husband, we waited about 20 minutes (at 7:40pm check in and got the table at 8pm). Once we got seated, we saw that there were at least 5-6 groups of people waiting around the front door. The wait for them were probably longer. Anyways, it was again a good experience and nice food. The only thing is that we ordered bulgogi pork and bulgogi beef. It's the same flavors but we didn't know it's that strong of the sauce. So that was not great, and I recommend just order non marinated items and dip their dipping sauces instead. Overall I will recommend this place! I like their interior design and the mood, not too bright and makes comfortable to seat with good spacing between tables. I came here with a group and we tried several meats. We also shared a mango cocktail soju, which was good but I couldn't really taste the soju in it. It tasted like mango juice mostly. All the meat tasted good but I don't think it was as good as some of the other Korean bbq places in the DMV. But overall I had a good experience here and the service was good as well. read more

I've been here about three times now! It's a nice Korean barbecue place! The first time I went, they had about seven different chicken dishes and they were under a different management. Since being back, they only have about two chicken dishes, but tons of beef and pork options and sides. The new management has also added a seafood boil, which is really nice for people who don't eat beef and pork - I know that's weird. Going to a Korean barbecue and not eating beef or pork but... Here I am! So I was very happy and content with the sides, the chicken dishes, and the seafood boil! They had a steamed egg that was absolutely delicious and the seasonings and broth and it was really good. Not your average egg. Me and babe were happy satisfied and content. The service was nice... The gentleman that helped us was nice and between him and another server they helped us to cook the meat until it was done. We ordered lychee Soju cocktail and mango Soju cocktail! Went here with my boyfriend for dinner after a walk around Brookside Garden. We got the All You Can Eat option and tried many of the meats. The more simple ones with no marinades were better than the ones with mango. Also, the beef and pork were better than the chicken options. We both really enjoyed the shrimp and corn cheese as well. Overall, I've had better all you can eat meat quality at other KBBQ places in the area, but I give Jongro a 5 star on service. Our waiter was attentive and brought us everything quickly. Came here for a friend's birthday and she chose a good spot for a birthday celebration. I love the setting of this place because it really brings a feel of Korea. The meat selection is pretty unique! They got your staple meats, like brisket, pork belly, bulgolgi. And then meats with extra ingredient. We got the bulgogi with mango, and a steak with interesting butter. lol. You'll feel like you just walked into a Korean drama. ^.^ It was beyond cute to say the least. The food/meat quality wasn't the best but they switch out your pan often so it definitely helps. Portions are small for AYCE so you'll have to make several orders. Not sure if our server was new but I had to ask for everything one by one. He brought out the lettuce after I asked for it but didn't bring the ssam jang, peppers, or garlic. I had to ask for some items more than once and it wasn't because they were busy. They're super nice and try their best so if you go here, just take your patience with you. Lol. Parking was ample. It's a part of the mall but has its own separate entrance. Best part about this spot is they're open until 2am when everybody else seems to close at 11pm since Covid. Last call for food is 1:15am. They do run out of stuff towards 12:30am though. Will be revisiting later on. Overall a solid 7/10 experience. They're located in Wheaton mall. Ample parking in the garage and a few spots in front. Immediately even before you enter you're greeted with music. I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the place. It's also nice that they're open late. Perfect for spontaneous kbbq cravings. We went around 11pm. It took a while before someone noticed us/sat us. Once we were seated, our server was nice. We both decided to get the AYCE option since its super hard to find a good kbbq place that offers AYCE for the $30 price range these days. We added on the soup. Highly recommend the soup. The corned cheese was cute and tinier than j expected. The brisket was amazing and we immediately were served a big portion. The other cuts of meat we got were decent but did not stand out quite as much. My favorites were the pork belly and brisket. Asked for ssamjang, but it was a bit dry.
