Wir waren gestern Abend zu fünft da und waren begeistert: Das Ambiente, der Service sowie die Speisen und Getränke waren hervorragend. Sowohl die Fleisch- wie auch die veganen bzw. vegetarischen Gemüsegerichte waren von ausgezeichneter Qualität und perfekt gewürzt, nicht zu scharf aber auch nicht zu mild. Der empfohlene Wein, ein Syrah aus Südafrika, passte perfekt dazu. Man isst übrigens wie traditionell in Afrika mit den Fingern indem man das Gemüse oder Fleisch mit kleinen Stückchen vom Fladenbrot, dem Injeera, aufnimmt. Aber wer lieber mit Besteck essen möchte, der darf das natürlich auch. Der Service war freundlich und humorvoll, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und empfehlen das Restaurant gerne weiter. Friendly service, good food, nice atmosphere. I will always return. Location is great.

Of course we had to try Ethiopian while abroad- I try to find my favourite food wherever I travel! First off: make sure you make a reservation (at least for dinner). It is a small place and obviously pretty popular. We were in a group of 4 adults, two kids and sat outside. That worked really well since there is a playground right across the way! Perfect for antsy kids. (When looking indoor, the decor was very typical for Ethiopian restaurants- dark, cozy, and family-oriented.) I tried my favorite dish (other than the split yellow pea stew): the spicy red lentils. The injera was soft and delicious, the lentils were nearly perfectly spiced, and it came with some other veggies that made everything come together. Our server spoke English and German, which made things so easy for our group of Germans and Americans. Although a little pricy, it was worth it, and EVERYONE polished off their plate. I only wish I could've eaten at Injeera more than once! read more

What a great gem in the maze of a city. If you like Ethiopian food... or if you want to try African food for the first time, you should give this place a visit. It's in a quite street off the bustling main roads, making this a naturally intimate setting. The staff was awesome and responsive when needed, like all places out here don't expect a lot of "checking up on". We shared a dish for a party of four. It was so delicious and flavorful. The meat was so tender. Be prepared to eat with your hands and enjoy the experience. BTW - we couldn't finish the dish since it was such a large portion! read more

The vegetarian section is easy to find in the menu and absolutely delicious! We did the dinner for 4 and ordered an additional plate of misir wot and injera. Perfect for 6 hungry people. Tip: call the day ahead for large group reservations. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because they do not take credit cards and no Visa debit cards either, only MasterCard and cash. Most non-German restaurants in Stuttgart are disappoint. Plus I spent my adult life in Oakland, which has some of the best Ethiopian food in the U.S. The three other Ethiopian places I've been to in the Stuttgart area were decent but on the bland side, so I wasn't expecting much from Injeera. I was wrong! It's really fantastic. The ambiance is nice (as is the outdoor seats across from a small park in an evocative old street) but the food really shines. Portions are big enough that an appetizer and one dish is enough for two people, but if you're really hungry, get the combo plate (meat or veggie) which gives you a nice sample of most of the dishes. The meat plate comes specifically with some amazing spicy buttery lamb. My only regret is that this place doesn't offer kitfo, one of my favorite Ethioian dishes. Given the quality of beef in Germany, I guess that's not too surprising. The value is good if you acknowledge how generous the portions are. The wine list is nice too, with a good South African Chenin Blanc at a reasonable price. Service can be slow, and sometimes somewhat indifferent, other times it's very nice depending on the server you get. That said, I've never had actively bad service here, so I can still give it 5 stars. I've eaten here at least 7 times and I always walk away happy. read more

This is some amazing food. Definitely get the combo platter. We had beef, chicken, lamb, lentils, collard greens, potatoes and okra. Everything was extremely tasty. The teff bread here isn't as tart as I'm used to, which I think may be because the teff/wheat ratio is lower in the flour blend. read more

A lovely, small restaurant, tucked away in what seems to be a very quiet side street (pedestrian area, so no direct access by car). It is operated by the owner, a gentleman from Eritrea. Injeera is the traditional 'bread' from there (though it looks like some sort of pancake) and it comes with pretty much any dish. The first page of the menu consists of explanations and definitions, which we definitely needed, as this was a new experience. The lady helping out in waiting the tables (the owner was cooking) was very friendly, suggested items from the menu and was all around extremely pleasant. The food was insanely good, though the portion size was insane. We shared a small starter and the diverse zigni platter for two. The platter for one would have been sufficient. It's a great item on the menu, since it lets you try many different things, however it is a lot of food, so beware. In conclusion: lovely place, great service, extraordinary food. I was interested in the "Afrikanischer Mischung" listed aa made of cardamom and other delicious things and made a mistake of asking if it is Kaffein-frei by any chance. The server kept repeating that it is tea and not coffee. The owner overheard, got involved, and involved and got so frustrated over my question that he slammed a couple of doors behind the counter. I would imagine I am not the only patron who does not drink caffeine at night! Suggestion for the staff: educate yourselves about caffeinated and caffeine-free teas (caffeine does not equal coffee) read more

Excellent food. Can't go wrong with the combo platter for two. They even bring extra meat on the side. It's very small, so you need to reserve. I was hoping they'd have the traditional honey wine, but they don't. My only complaint is: no cards accepted. I'm sorry to say this but it was the worst experience I have ever had. First the food was not good and I didn't even eat it because it tasted like it was cooked a week ago, frozen and then warmed up for me. So I didn't eat it and they didn't bother to bring me a new plate or give me my money back. Furthermore, they ignored me for over 90 minutes until I asked for the bill. If I were you, I would not spend any money there. Only the German waitress was nice and respectful. read more
