Family run Korean style Japanese restaurant in liberty village There's a lot of room for improvements for Injapan around service and food quality. I found the food to lack flavour in almost all the dishes. I was especially disappointed with the unagi bento box - flavourless and seems like they used unagi pieces intended for unagi sushi rather than a whole piece. There was also only one waitress servicing the whole restaurant. She was really sweet and worked really hard but adding just 1 more person would really help improve customer service and turnaround.

I quite like InJapan. The prices here are reasonable. Best of all, it is close to my office. Definitely a great place to grab a quick lunch. There are a few restaurants that surrounds InJapan. But most of the time, I prefer grabbng lunch here. I suggest ordering in advance. If you do walk-in to go, it does take them 10 mins to 15 mins to prepare the food. I came here with a colleague and grabbed the Unagi combo. They do have a daily special combo. The price after tax came to $16. It came with miso soup, salad, california roll, tempura, a gyoza and of course unagi. The food was very tasty. Other than Japanese food, they do offer Korean dishes here too. Service was good.

Came here on a Friday evening. Traffic was high with only one server so service was a bit slow. The food was bland. Sushi rice not seasoned. I would think they would serve unagi over rice but it was over bean sprouts. Also expected the unagi to be served in one large piece instead of sliced like it was for a nigiri. Overall I think food needs to be seasoned more. Hot sake needs to be served hot and not room temperature. The tofu teriyaki was okay, batter was too thick and again not seasoned. I hope this place improves the quality. The location is great and staff is nice.

Best place to have sushi in Toronto! Super affordable, friendly staff, and fresh food. Lowkey and homey vibes. If you want a chill night out, i definitely recommend.

Always awesome always fresh. The sushi and sashimi combo dinner with miso soup. A great treat for dinner during the week. All of the sushi and sashimi is fresh, well textured lean, perfectly cut to perfection. The jalapeño pepper and parsley are excellent garnish. A side of strawberry pocky accentuated this Japanese delight. The best sushi and sashimi in the GTA!!!

    L.A Galbi - delicious!

We planned to have a fancy sushi dinner downtown, but after having a hard time getting a reservation, we decided to come here as they had more availability. This restaurant is more casual, they have a patio, and their menu is a mix of Japanese and some Korean dishes. We ordered the L.A galbi, and chirashi sushi which is like a deconstructed roll. The galbi was really good, and the chirashi was good but not spectacular. We topped off our dinner with some green tea ice cream which I think was made in-house. Overall a good experience for casual dining.

    Salmon sushi. It was huge!

Portions are quite large and you can tell they take the time to prepare your food without the service being slow. The staff are very nice and the atmosphere is cozy. They gave us complimentary crab hand rolls and ice cream in wafer! I ordered the chirashi which was fresh and the rice was well seasoned. Next time. I'll order some sushi because it looked really good!

Atmosphere: 5 Customer service: 5 Food quality: 5 Food taste: 5 Staff members: 5 Great place for sushi! The fish taste fresh and the maki rolls have generous amount of rice where we couldn't finish what we ordered. Our order : 10 assorted pieces of sushi with miso soup (changed to salmon only) Salmon lover's maki (10 pieces) (FM11) Rainbow maki roll (FM2) That was just a bit too much for my wife and I. The staff members there and extremely nice and respectful, very professional but at the same time fun and friendly. They gave us complimentary hand rolls made from crab and spicy mayo, as well as a nice dessert at the end of our meal which was very nice. Overall great place to dine at, foods great, service is great, also great value wise! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

This spot is located in the trendy neighborhood of liberty village. I ended up here as a last minute thing. It seems more like a takeout kind of place as they were surprised when we asked to be seated. Anyway the place was empty on Saturday evening (though the steady take out orders kept em busy) The menu was quite long and even had some Korean dishes. I wanted to try both cooked and sushi items so went with a Ebi Tempura and rainbow roll. Dinning partners went for Bento Boxes (one with chicken teriyaki and other with vegetarian version of Agadashi Tofu as protein) We were served tea immediately. I ordered a Sapparo for good measures :) My food arrived first and didn't look anything special. I had to wait a bit till everyone got their food. The tempura was dry and the batter was not up to par . This resulted in a much thicker batter than desired and I felt bloated after a few pieces. The rainbow roll was just your run of the mill stuff with dried rice and fish. I would say its not much better than any food court iteration. I also tried the agadashi tofu and it was a disaster. The thick batter overpowering the protein and the sauce just slathered over, just a gooey mess. I think one can do a lot better for the price we paid.

Yellowtail, spicy tuna and scallop sushi with miso soup

This place has probably the worst sushi (if you can call it sushi) I've ever tasted. And I've lived in Tokyo, so I'd know. I ordered 3 maki combo, yellow tail, scallop and spicy tuna. They were all disgusting. The rice was falling apart and was not properly cooked. The fish was warm. The scallops were Bay scallops, not Sea scallops, and there were very few of them in the roll. The spicy sauce on the tuna was disgusting. The tuna was chewy, rubbery and dark! You might have better luck with their 'staple' bento boxes, but avoid ordering off their usual lunch fare as they have no idea how to make proper sushi.

To me is more like a 3.5 stars. The only reason why I chose 3* is because I find the menu doesn't offer nothing else that could make you explore a Japanese dining experience. Only sushi and very few sushi pizza and soups. However, place is clean and staff is very friendly. Sushi chef and staff are all Japanese and not Chinese or any other region from Asia. They offer dine in or take away service but not delivery. Business hours are pretty much the same as other places with the exception of Saturday. Mon - Fri: 11.30 am to 10.00 pm Sat: 12.0 pm to 9.30 pm Sun: closed Sushi is pretty good, fresh and served fairly quickly. The service is prompt and very friendly. So, overall, if you are in the neighbourhood and you crave for sushi, this is a safe bet for good sushi for a fair price if compared to the only 2-3 only options available in LV.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

What I really liked was that they had 3 options of warm water - Hot, Warm, and room temperature. Instinctively I knew this place cared about the clients digestive health. Though I'm sure if you asked for ice water, they would accommodate (my friend asked for no sauces in her maki roll). The fishes were plated very pretty and because it's sushi of course it tasted good. But I was surprised at the level of wasabi that was plated. Cleared up my sinuses for 30 seconds. The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

The space itself leans more modern and clean rather than the typical dark, cozy izakaya vibe, which I actually didn't mind. It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
