Note: the things I will say below are from personal experience. If there's anything else that happened, comment under this review. The interview is related to chess. This interview is meant to evaluate skills, see the interest the child has in chess, and also have the coach know the student a bit better personally. It does NOT matter the kid passes the interview or not when it comes to chess skills, this just evaluates character. Any chess skills are a bonus. Coaches there will not outright refuse you without reason. They will give reason, and they will tell you if there is anything that does not sit right with them. They are very honest people, and will not say anything to insult you on purpose. Do not do last minute changes to schedules. Each coach sets a time for a reason. They set time because there are other kids that have classes. The coaches will be understanding if you do have a delay, but please do not be unreasonably late and hope the coach will still wait. Overall this has been a second family to me. I've known these coaches for a good bit of my life, and I highly recommend Wing chess if you have a kid that's looking for a friendly environment to learn and have fun. I would come here. Sincerely, a long time student.

Usually the first class is free but I did pay $30 - $40 for each trial class. My son didn't like the robotics class at all. He said the instructor was having a hard time keeping the kids engaged or on task. He also said the classroom was dirty and there were not enough parts or components so they had to get some from other rooms. As a new trial student you would think the instructor would give some background or guidance but he said there was no explanation or instruction from the instructor on what was going on. She was just helping kids that needed help or find parts for them. He knew one of the other kids in the class so he just sat next to him and observed (not sure why I had to pay for him to just sit & observe). He was supposed to take the coding class right after, but he was already done and didn't want to go back inside. We went after school on a Friday so he was already tired. Since I already paid for both trials, I rescheduled the coding class. They were very accommodating & rescheduled us a couple of times. He said this coding class was much better and the instructor was better. All the coding was done on the computer. My impression from the 3 times I walked in was it's chaotic: kids darting here and there and some parents picking up their kids. There are tables with robotics and coding plaques or instruments by the entrance and hallways, cluttered & dusty. The 2 young gals there were very nice but just sitting at their desks looking at their computer monitors amidst the chaos. They didn't ask him how the trial class went. Didn't seem organized or clean. I had high hopes with all the 5 star reviews on yelp but was not impressed. It's in a narrow and long strip mall with different businesses: a dentist and 2 - 3 other tutoring type afterschool places. Looks like a lot of local kids hang out after school. My son has gone to a dozen or so lego, coding and robotics camps over the last 2 summers and he said he prefers those classes/camps.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rowland Heights School of Music and, especially, Yolly…read more From the very beginning, Yolly has shown an incredible level of patience, understanding, and belief in my son that is truly rare. My son is 19 years old and on the autism spectrum. For years, we tried different approaches and instructors, and despite his interest, he struggled to learn how to read musical notes. In just a couple of months with Yolly, he learned to read music, something several others were unable to teach him over many years. Watching that breakthrough happen was nothing short of amazing. Not only is he learning, but he is thriving. In less than a year, he is already preparing for his first recital, which in itself is a huge milestone. One of the pieces he is performing is The Entertainer, a challenging song that speaks volumes about Yolly's high expectations and her confidence in his abilities. She never limits him; instead, she believes in him and gently pushes him forward. What also stands out is the attention to detail. My son now maintains perfect posture while playing, something Yolly consistently taught and reinforced. Her teaching style is structured yet compassionate, and she truly knows how to connect with her students. I was referred to Rowland Heights School of Music by another parent of a young man on the spectrum. I admit I was skeptical at first, but I decided to try it, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made for my son. If you are a parent looking for a music teacher who is patient, skilled, and genuinely invested in their students' growth, I cannot recommend Yolly and Rowland Heights School of Music highly enough. They have made a lasting impact on our lives.

Classes are typically held at his many physical campuses in the morning, as well as in the evening to accommodate for the average work schedule, and Saturday mornings. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all classes are now being held online (the classes must go on!). Most, if not all of the content Doc Manny teaches is easy to comprehend, whether you have a medical background or not. Classes are year-round so you can start when you want, but they move at your own pace. It's not formatted like traditional schools, where they start in the fall and end in the spring; Doc is able to teach in a way that progresses each student no matter where they are or when they started. Depending on how quick you learn, you may finish earlier than others, even if you both started at the same time. This also includes taking/passing the AHIMA test (I finished mine & got my certification in 4 months! Thanks to my classmates too for all your help & encouragement). If for some reason you're unable to grasp what's being taught, Doc Manny will repeat it over and over again until it clicks. For incoming students, the whole process can be overwhelming and a bit challenging at times, but once you find your footing and get a feel for things, you'll be right on track. Dr. Manny Santiago has been teaching medical coding for 20+ years and he really illustrates the experience through his passion for the job. He is very knowledgeable, professional, caring, patient, supportive, approachable, and most of all, very accommodating to his student's needs. He is always ready to answer any of your questions. As an added bonus, he keeps students engaged through much needed jokes, and some times, unintended humor! :) Once you've passed his class and you're finally a CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), he will also assist you in getting a job. I really had an awesome experience at HSJ. I learned so much from Doc Manny, as well as from his great proctors GJ Blanco, Mike Agbayani and Marie Garcia!!! I highly recommend this school to anyone!
