I contacted Mike about possibly installing a front mirror dashcam and rear license plate camera on a brand-new Jeep. When I called I told him I'd swing by to let him see what he was dealing with and to get his thoughts on making it a "clean install" (no visible wires). Cut to... Well...not only did he do a better than factory install, he did it right away at what should have been his normal closing time. He offered to stay late and get it done for me. Based on the mostly positive reviews here, and a phone call with Mike, I decided to take my car in to have him install F/R dashcams. He assured me that he had the "experience" to do this job and gave the impression he was confident in his work. After some discussion over pricing, we settled on a price. I stayed there waiting for the car. He was pleasant to talk to. Things seemed to go pretty smoothly, as far as I could tell. He didn't ask me where I wanted the cameras mounted however. He was more interested in having the camera centered on the back window than trying to avoid having the defroster lines in view. Even when provided with the "static cling" mounting material to use on the rear tinted window film, he used the included 3M HD adhesive pad directly on the film. If the camera gets bumped or needs to be replaced for some reason, it will pull the film off and likely damage the defroster. I would have preferred the front camera to be off to the right a little bit to be out of my line of sight. My bad. I didn't say. He didn't ask. When completed, I took out by credit card. Nope. He had NO way to run it! Cash only!* Not discussed prior to starting the work. I had to go home to get cash. A few months have passed since this installation. I have not ever been able to get "Parking Mode" to work. I assumed it was a "settings" issue. I spent quite a bit of time going over all the settings, but it still would not work. I decided to retrace all the wiring (only 3 wires!) that powers the dashcams. I discovered several things. First, he apparently damaged my rear seat! He apparently bent the seat frame! The photo shows the corner of the seat bent UP that he ran the wires under! I paid for "experience", not a HACK. I've taken the seat out before to install seat covers. It's not easy, but CAN be done with damaging it! Second, he had to make splices in two locations to extend the wiring to reach the power source in the trunk. The splices (crimp connectors) appeared to be OK. But he did change the color of the wire after the first splice. Color of the wire doesn't really matter as long as you keep track of which wire is which at the end! With this knowledge, I could verify if the wires were attached to the proper power sources at the fuse box. THEY WERE NOT!! He got the ground correct though. So much for paying for his "experience." Also, the fuse taps were not installed correctly, with power going to the wrong blade. After I corrected those wiring errors, the "Parking Mode" now works as it should! *A quick search online did not provide a California Business License for this company. I too learned from this "experience." However, I'm glad most of you have had a much better experience than I had. read more

I was recommended to Ingenious Auto Solutions for paint repair. I drove 5.5 hours to this shop. The clearcoat on the roof was failing, so I sought to get it resprayed. However, upon retrieval of the car, I found several errors in the work done. There was overspray residue across both doors, quarter panels, and the trunk. There are also deep sanding scratches/scuffs on the pillars and roofline of the car. Upon contacting the shop to repair the damage, he was willing to repair the damage, but was not willing to give full or even partial reimbursement due to the fact it is our "fault you live in Northern California and I'm down here." However, this would not be an issue in the first place if the paintjob was done properly. read more

I initially went to Ingenious Auto Solutions (IAS) to have my headlights restored on my 2003 Ford F-150. I also had them repaint my front grill. The headlights came out fantastic. Looks like, if not better than, brand new. I decided to have some additional work done including having my bumpers repainted due to oxidation, having a new stereo system with Sirius XM installed, a backup camera installed and a complete detail (including the engine) of the truck. I was very pleased with the level of detail they put in to all of the work that they did. If you have faded headlamps, this is the place to go. I called them at 2pm and Mike answered the phone and he told me to bring my truck in at 4pm. Upon arrival Mike met me and spoke with me about the electrical issue I was having. Took my wife's Sequoia in to have him check out my aftermarket backup camera because it stopped working and was only showing a blank screen when putting the vehicle in reverse. He advised me that he will be checking the power and the wires to make sure that everything is working fine before he advises me that it could be the camera that is actually not working. So after running some tests to make sure that there is power going through the camera, Mikel checks on the wires and sure enough, he finds a wire that is torn. He advises me that it's only the wiring and not the camera, after he installed his own set of wires to make sure that my camera is working. He said that I only need to replace the wiring for the camera which I gave the ok for him to do. After about an hour or so running the new wires through my vehicle, the camera is good as new and the price was good and to top it off, he saved me money from purchasing a new camera. Best thing of all about this shop is that he charges a fair price and doesn't gouge you and he's honest to boot. He didn't lie about me needing a new camera and he actually took his time in checking to make sure that everything is working before he would advise me that I will need a new camera, unlike the previous shop who I took my vehicle to and advised me that I will need a new camera, after briefly glancing at my system and not bothering to check the power or the wiring. Oh this same shop that was going to charge me a new camera was the same shop that installed my wife's stereo and backup camera. I'm glad I found Mikel's shop. read more
