I cannot even begin to explain the lack of propriety on behalf of this particular company. I rented…read morea town house which they were "suppose" to manage by them in 2013-2014. The rental agent, Tara Garkowski, was more than happy to take my money, have me sign the lease and provide me with keys in a very timely manner. That was in March 2013. That was the last time anything happened between myself and Tara, and Sunstate, in a timely manner. There were a couple of issues with the unit, now understanding that anything under $100 I would cover myself, which I did and yet that hundred dollars per instance added up to a lot more than I had anticipated. There were issues with the locks, there were issues with the washing machine, there were issues here, there were issues there, there were issues everywhere. On top of that- the fire extinguisher was never updated. The window blinds in the master bathroom never function properly since I moved in. There was also a water damage that I had informed TARA of which were never addressed. Water began to leak from the master shower onto the actual bathroom floor and I had to go to Home Depot and get stuff to fix it and caulk it myself because Tara never responded to my text messages or my emails. There was black mold found along the baseboards and the walls next to the shower in the master bath, I advised this information to Tara along with photos that I sent via text and it was never addressed. After some back-and-forth in May, months after my lease had expired and they had forgotten to send me one - even though I kept reminding them of the lease and the items that needed to still be fixed - they finally sent me a lease renewal on May 7 of 2014 and then asked me to vacate the property because I withheld the rent due to the lack of attention provided to the unit. Ready to pay for everything including any back payments as long as they address the issues... instead they decided to evict me. We tried to go back-and-forth with the courts and eventually I had to leave I just could not handle it anymore. I now have an evection on my record because Tara and Sunstate were negligent. Oh and the cherry on that sundae.... the place was renovated with new carpeting and tile floors that the lawyer tried to get me to pay for... I had photos of the unit before and after... With the exception of a small burn on the kitchen counter (which I was quoted 300.00USD to fix when I did my personal estimate) the unit was exactly as I got it- under the terms "as is" yet they tried to get me for like 5k in "damages" - oh I almost crapped myself on that one, haaa haaa. Stay away from this company and their employees find someone else to rent your place from.

I wish I knew how deceiving the looks of my townhouse looked. I signed a lease through this agency…read more When we moved into our unit there was a major plumbing issue. The toilets/sinks were over flooding all into the carpets. Someone had to be called out twice and it took 2 weeks to get resolved. The neighborhood (Treviso) is also known for multiple auto break ins and other crimes. They were the only agency with tenants that didn't have parking decals which subjected my vehicle being towed. I was not allowed to have my landlords phone number/email when asked. They also completely screwed me out of $1000 deposit, only returning $470. One person told me it was $200 to have the carpets cleaned (that she had just gotten then invoice). When I called back to talk to the manager she claims it was $275, and I was charged $150 for having nail holes in the wall and $100 cleaning fee. There were also other smaller things throughout the home supposedly. I also called the day after I turned in my keys, with 2 weeks left on my lease, to make sure everything was ok. The lady informed me my unit was fine and they would let me know if I needed to do anything. This obviously never happened. Lesson learned - don't rent through a real estate agency.

Then…read morewhen I emailed them immediately regarding our need to save money prior to painting our house, it was sent to many people in the company. Note that we were not told next steps or any sort of direction after this. No direction with a deadline, or requesting us to submit an extension. We do not hear back until 3 months later with a notice that our account was sent to the law firm. Then when I contacted Jo Ann; she said "I wish you had contacted us before this year" which I then sent her proof of us reaching out to Sentry in November 2025 and apparently this didn't matter because even though I was able to prove that we did contact them and didn't receive any direction, they still told us the fees would have to be paid although their company dropped the ball. I know many people who have had this management company and have received final notices before warnings. It's very sketchy and I feel as if they are trying to get extra money even when it was their fault. I know people leaving my neighborhood due to this management company and would never recommended them.

The trash can was accidently left in front of the garage rather than being put away properly. It…read morewas later put away. I then received a notice that I would have to appear online at a hearing unless the issue had been taken care of. I emailed Sentry Management letting them know the issue had been resolved and requested the time for the hearing as they had not provided it. When they refused to provided the time for the hearing I spent almost 4 hours on Teams waiting for them to appear. They did not appear and now want to fine me $1000 for leaving a trash can out. It appears they only wanted to fine me as they made no effort to respond to correspondence or to appear at the hearing they scheduled. Update: I spoke with the representative for my neighborhood and we got the issue settled. While I still feel a $1000 fine is excessive for a trash can left out, I understand better the situation. I still think they should have given me a time for the meeting instead of me sitting online for almost 4 hours. I still feel they should have replied to my correspondence instead of ignoring me. I will give them an extra star for solving this misunderstanding.
