Our agent - Linda LaPilusa, hyped the Schuler Homes (she's also a realtor with Schuler-Bauer Real…read moreEstate agency ... see my review on this as well) as being the best in single family home construction. Nothing could be further from the TRUTH! For the 3 months since we closed and moved into our brand new home (our 4th home and 3rd new build), Schuler Homes' employees and its subcontractors have been in our home every single week to the point we may have to charge them rent! Three incursions of water from the outside into three separate areas of our home - one on the main floor and 2 in the basement. I get it (my father was a custom home builder when I was growing up), there will be some issues as the home settles and someone lives in it a while and finds them. However, Schuler Homes' employees exercised POOR JUDGEMENT when they GROSSLY FAILED to tarp an area where the roofline was cut in - while we occupied the home. That night it rained causing extensive damage to the dining and living area drywall, trim, spray foam insulation and paint. Ten minutes to tarp versus weeks of repairing the damage caused by their ignorant decision making processes resulting in the gross inconvenience to my family! Did the owner of this company speak with us to extend his sincere apologies and relieve our concerns that it would be made right? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Move on to the 3rd water intrusion in our son's basement bedroom. It's been more than 6 weeks and Schuler Homes has yet to finish the work sufficiently enough to permit our son to return to his bedroom! For the first 4+ weeks, MICHAEL DAVID SCHULER masqueraded and paraded 2 Schuler Homes employees as "water intrusion" experts thus delaying the repair work that should've been completed in a week! It was not until I gave them a "drop dead deadline" that MICHAEL DAVID SCHULER finally obligated TRUE PROFESSIONALS. These professionals found the source of the leak in 15 minutes whereas the SCHULER HOMES employees still had not though spending 4+ weeks looking for it! The last act of GROSS NEGLIGENCE is astonishing! SCHULER HOMES sold and allowed my family to occupy a TOXIN -laden home for 3+ months that caused my wife and son to experience RESPIRATORY DISTRESS, SEVERE COUGHING and HEADACHES for 2+ months! The sheer absence of QUALITY CONTROLS resulted in the SCHULER HOMES' failure to ensure the sewage gas - HYDROGEN SULFIDE, was duly exhausted to the outside atmosphere. Instead, the NOXIOUS GAS was vented directly into our living spaces (not the attic!)! To aggravate this matter, the toxic gas exhaust was mere inches from the our HVAC cold air return thus facilitating its circulation throughout our home! NO ONE from SCHULER HOMES has offered an APOLOGY for subjecting my family to prolonged exposure to such a toxic substance that resulted in their serious illnesses! Moreover, rather than accept responsibility and accountability, MICHAEL DAVID SCHULER's only written response was to deflect BLAME on the FLOYD COUNTY BUILDING and PERMITs COMMISSIONER and my HOME INSPECTOR for failing to discover this EGREGIOUS matter! Where is the ADULT in the room for SCHULER HOMES? The optics of their response are horrendous. Basically, MICHAEL DAVID SCHULER has touted that he can build a home that creates a serious HEALTH HAZARD to its occupants and if neither the permit compliance inspector nor the buyers' home inspector discover the life threatening hazard, it's not SCHULER HOMES' fault but both those entities who do NOT work for MICHAEL DAVID SCHULER! WOW! That instills great confidence in this builder - NOT!
