Worst experience ever at an animal shelter. I tried to call during the day to verify what needed to happen for a great experience for my children. Every time I called, I never did get ahold of a real person regardless of which area I tried. Upon arrival at 5:55pm, we were told that we would not be able to adopt or see dogs without an application. We were also told that we had 4 (four!) minutes to select a dog!! We tried. Really we did. After 3 minutes, a lady showed up at our side telling us to give her our green sheet...this is the sheet that is for the adoption. We finally picked a dog and offered to give it a forever home after being pressured, and making this decision in only 14 minutes!! You see, my wife and I both work downtown Indy. We drove all the way to Fishers, never turned off the car, picked up our children, kept trying to call, and went straight there. This is where it gets SAD!! I handed the lady the form and she said in a very sarcastic voice that she wouldn't be able to help us. She said that it would take 20-40 minutes to effectively perform the adoption. I said great!, showed her my phone, and we both saw that there was 43 minutes left!! I swear she took pleasure in saying that she would not let us because it was too late in the day-although there was time left according to her. Let me assure you, there are witnesses to this!! So. In the end, a dog lost a chance at a wonderful home with a half acre fenced in yard, because the "Volunteer" on duty really didn't want to help. I asked for her supervisor. She smiled MEANLY at me and said she was the supervisor. I stated/questioned, "you aren't going to help me get this dog, are you?". She said NO (still smiling). She stated that there wasn't enough staff on hand. As my kids-one with tears in his eyes- walked out I watched them pass no less than three people. One who was playing with a cat. That doggie missed a chance at a great life. How Sad. read more
