Unfortunately, over the years, the level of service has declined. I can't be sure, but I don't think they still house community cats or cats that are available for adoption. The basic exam that they do couldn't take longer than 30 seconds because all 3 of our cats were in and out in less than 5 minutes. They all received vaccines and had the brief exam done within that timeframe. The checking out process took much longer. Following COVID and the protocols that changed, I just don't feel like things ever got "back to normal." I understand that this is an animal care facility, but it was truly disgusting and especially rank the day that we went in there. I would hope that someone mops daily, but the floor looked like it had definitely not been cleaned in a week. The nature of the business is likely to explain the mess, but some efforts to air the place out a bit would be appreciated. The staff are all really friendly and the cost, though it has gone up steadily over the years, is still the most affordable that I've found. You simply cannot beat a good deal on the necessities.

We dropped her off and then got called shortly after to see if we could come back and be with Nova while they sedate her. They said they would rather have us there to calm her down than to put a muzzle on her which I really appreciated. She's normally anxious around new people and when we went to pick her up she seemed completely okay. I was very nervous as this was her first vet visit (with us at least) and I couldn't be happier. We're going to monitor Nova over the next couple weeks to make sure everything goes smoothly. Other than that, I definitely recommend coming here.

I didn't stay while they did it - despite raising my girls from chicks they run from me unless I have treats (not really pets) - and my blubbering would have been more stressful to her than the calm vet. They didn't judge me for not staying, and when we picked up her body to bury, they had some feathers in a jar, feet prints, and a few days later I got a card. I appreciate the extra care and thoughtfulness - she was a sweet bird and she deserved the gentle transition she got from the team.

Normally M.C.H.S. lets you adopt domesticated cats for pets from them that will be indoors…read moreprimarily. But I was looking for what is known as working cats or barn cats. These are feral cats, not domesticated. I am surrounded by cornfields and when the corn is harvested they chase all the mice out of the fields. I filled out an application for two kittens and they said they do regularly have working cats available. It didn't even take two weeks and they called. I could accept only two if I wanted but they told me they had found a mother and four two month old kittens. They asked if I was willing to take the whole family and I was because as they said the mother will teach the kittens how to hunt the mice. By the way if you are familiar with their history, these are the cats found by the Knead The Dough bakery on Morgan St. Now what really impressed me was that they delivered the cats to me and set them up with a cage, food and water bowls, litter box, litter, and food (which I declined since I had already purchased a lot of food because I knew they were coming after the vet visit). All five animals were spayed or neutered. There was no adoption charge or fees of any kind since I guess its possible the cats could run away. But the reason for the cage is to keep them caged for 10-14 days to get used to us feeding and watering them so they won't try to go back to their former home. All they ask is to call them when I am finished with their equipment and they will come and get it. I also received paperwork for each cat with their names and date of rabies shot, etc. Their names are Yvonne, mama; Yoyo, female and very shy; Yodel, male and playful; Yeti, male and the most friendly, letting us pet him after only two days; and Yoshi, male and a tad shy but curious. Cute names huh? I did make a donation out of my two garage sales proceeds so thanks to all who bought something. This is what the grand kids wanted. And I have added on to their cage with two dog pens I already owned so their living area is now three times the size of their original cage which is all temporary anyway. Big thanks to Morgan County Humane Society for making all of this happen for us all. These felines will be well looked after.

This has been the most caring and loving staff for pets that I have ever dealt with. When the time came to send our baby over the rainbow bridge, Dr.Kaiser and his staff were nothing short of caring, kind, patient, and comforting. They even sent a condolence card signed by all of their staff after Rusty's passing. That definitely made me cry. Their caring and kindness brought me more comfort than I thought was possible in that situation. Thank you all for that! I will forever recommend them.

Our dog had surgery a while back. When I picked Jed her up I was given a collar and told I "didn't have to use it". Which I didn't. So when I brought her in for her annual visit I brought the brand new never used collar back and was told I couldn't have my money back. Very disappointed and not sure at all about the personal care I expect.
