They had plenty of vendors and food stations. This was the first year I wasn't disappointed with the inventory, the selection of everything possible to fill your expectations for buying an RV. All I have to say is I HOPE the next expo will be like this one or bigger.

It would have been nice to have more food items for sale though because we were hungry but there wasn't anything my kids really wanted to eat. The staff was super nice though and even the sales people were kind enough to leave you alone after you told them you weren't interested in something.

I'm beyond disappointed after being told there are no more tickets available and being asked to join a group chat to "bargain" for tickets that families--who've paid for classes all year--should be entitled to. It's incredibly frustrating to know that my daughter may not be able to showcase what she's learned because of poor planning, limited space, and a ticketing process that seems completely disorganized. If the studio has so many dancers spread across multiple shows, why not book a larger venue and hold one big recital? That way, every student could perform once, and families could buy tickets--possibly even at the door. This current setup is chaotic and feels inconsiderate of the time, effort, and money parents have invested. On top of that, charging tuition the week before the show and continuing classes afterward feels like another poorly thought-out decision. While my daughter enjoyed dancing here for what it was, we will not be continuing. I would not recommend this studio to others.

The yearly recital is my favorite experience every single year. It is very well organized, well run, and a highly entertaining production! Our entire family loves attending and watching every year! I think back to recitals when I was a kid and they were boring for my parents to watch dance after dance with no story line or real order to the dances. Dance Academy West offering Musical Theater and Acting makes the show, and the childrens' experiences, a true theatrical experience! I wish my studio had run recitals like DAW when I was younger. This year, when all 4 recital shows sold out, the owner and staff made every attempt to ensure every parent was able to get a ticket to see their child dance. When some parents were still unable to get tickets, they added a 5th show ensuring the child of those without tickets danced in the add-on show. This was an incredible opportunity for some of the kids to get extra stage time and make the recital weekend even better! We also love that the studio offers year round classes so the dancing never has to end! Even when recital is done, classes still continue throughout the summer, ensuring continuous learning and growth for the students. We have been at DAW for 8 seasons and it just gets better every year. We started at DAW when my daughter was 3 years old and the way she has grown throughout the years has been amazing. When we were just starting out and looking for a studio to join, we wanted somewhere that was diverse within their staff and students as well as staff that we could trust with our child. There is a reason people flock to DAW after experiences with other studios. All of the staff and teachers are nurturing, attentive, loving, caring, and encouraging. My daughter calls Dance Academy West her home away from home! She has built lasting friendships with her dance friends! If you are looking for an amazing dance experience for your child, you will not regret choosing Dance Academy West. I would choose them over and over again!

Ballethnic Dance Company is a local performing arts group. Ballethnic is all about promoting…read moreculturally diverse and classically trained dancers. This predominately African American company performs ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, point, modern and other dance techniques. Based out of East Point, the dance studio offers classes to children, teens and adults. Summer dance camp is also available. Throughout the year the company performs at theaters around Atlanta. I actually attended one of their shows at Georgia Tech and it was well put together. Just recently they presented the Urban Nutcracker. I really think someone with a business/marketing mindset could get this studio to where it needs to be. The quality of teaching is second to none. A few teachers do need to remember that some of the dancers are truly kids doing their best but overall it is a solid place for a dance skills foundation. Original Post on 2/22/16: The concept is wonderful however the communication is horrible. As a new family to the company (my previous company Lee Harper closed), I never truly know what is going on. They should really invest in a newsletter so that people will know. I did not know at all that they had a Nutcracker production and actually went to another company's production of it. They never send notices of upcoming productions home. Randomly and inconsistently we receive half thought out emails. With the amount that the company cost, one would think that simply sending communication home would not be a problem. Also parents are not guaranteed a ticket at the performance. Their production of the Harlem Renaissance was sold out and several parents were closed out of the performance. Why not simply send one ticket home for each child? Additional ones can always be purchased. They only have class on Saturday mornings for elementary aged kids. This doesn't work for everyone. Also, parking is nonexistent . There is a lot for about 4 cars! Three stars because the potential is there for a strong business. They have the talent just not the business expertise to keep clients.

After a full morning of moving all my furniture from one apartment to the new place, and having…read moreonly 3 hours of sleep, I gotta say I wasn't exactly in the mood for Taste of the Highlands. We (somehow!) arrived only about an hour into the festivities and quickly made the rounds. The best food I had was from Pura Vida, but I also go to try lots of other tasty treats including olive oil ice cream from Ecco (which is um...not in the Highlands). I also thought the shrimp & grits from Goin' Coastal were mighty good! Oh- and the specialty blend iced coffee from San Francisco Coffee hit the spot! But, quite a few of the vendors ran out quickly. Many places also only offered one option so if I wasn't interested in what they had, I didn't get anything. Our vegetarian friend came later on and was extremely disappointed that, by that point, almost everyone was out of food and there was almost nothing that didn't have meat. She had a croissant from Bakeshop. Alcohol was flowing, and I got to try a few margaritas, some beer from Terrapin, some vodka drink, wine, etc. I got my buzz on for sure! Overall I was a little disappointed in the restaurants running out of food. Okay, I wasn't on time, but really? You should know how many portions to bring and be smart (like Pura Vida) and keep some foods for later on, or keep fresh batches for each half hour instead of giving people fourths in the first 45 minutes. Luckily I didn't pay for this ticket (my bf covered this one)... but good thing proceeds were going to charity. Don't forget your camping chair or blanket to relax on while you listen to local bands!

It's somewhat crowded, has the usual inefficient check-in process and there were long lines at either of only two beer stands (they could have used a third stand). And not enough places to sit. I really think events like this should include fold-up chairs. Lots of them. Wow, great food. I really liked Alma Cocina's gazpacho, and Cypress St's BBQ pork thing. Plus several others. Most of the food tables didn't have long lines - the vendors were pretty good at setting the samples out so everything moved quickly. Long line for Flip's slider, so I passed on that. In the end, I left satisfied, which doesn't happen at some of these shindigs. Parking is not as bad as you might imagine provided you're willing to walk a few blocks. Virginia Highland has quite a bit of street parking in the neighborhood. For events here (not just this one), I like to park a couple of blocks in from Ponce and walk the five or six blocks to the event but there were spots as close as two blocks away when I arrived at 2:30.

We did see some cool things for sale at the festival that were unique, but most of it was the same. We purchased a very cool Hammock Chair called the Oakweave by a company called Twin Oaks. I have never seen anything like this, so it is super cool. key sunday cinema club is a must-do for film buffs. you buy a seasonal subscription and then every…read moreother sunday head over to midtown arts cinema for a movie. what's pretty sweet about it is that every time the movie is different and you have no idea until you show up what it is going to be. it's always a movie selected by the organization and also never shown in atlanta before. afterwards, matthew bernstein, a film professor at emory, leads a discussion on the film. i always avoided it figuring it would be full of pretentious indie hipsters, but the median age is like 55 and everyone there is just passionate about film. check it out if you love film. i have seen some pretty damn good stuff i never would have seen before....
