Disclaimer: My company has our office space at Second Shift…read more That being said, I wanted to give a shout out for what Second Shift is and what sets it apart. It's a fantastic coworking space for those that are looking for a spot to do work that is well appointed, welcoming and community-focused. Their leadership sets them apart and rather than focusing on squeezing dollars from their membership - they want to build a helpful, strong and welcoming community for everyone. We have private desks which at the current rate is a steal for anything in Logan or other neighborhoods, but public space abounds for those not looking for a private space. There are conference rooms, phone booths and common areas that are all able to be reserved by their online system. I've been to a number of coworking spaces that are either incredibly pretentious or try so hard to be cool and edgy that they lose their purpose. People can actually get shit done here and meet others that are entrepreneurs who can benefit their company. We've added 3 contractors to our company roster simply by being here and they have added to the quality of work our company provides. If you're looking for a space to call your own, get work done and hang out in a wonderful community - Second Shift is the place for you.

Joining totally got me out of a work funk, I'm more productive when I come here, and now I actually appreciate it when I do work from home! If you're looking not just for a workspace, but for someplace you can meet people and make connections, this is the spot.

I wasn't too happy with my stay here. It's a nice building, good location, and friendly staff, but…read morethere were a few things that made my stay unsatisfactory. The first issue being that the entire hallway leading to my room reeked of cigarettes (both days we were there). This is gross and frustrating to encounter in 2026. The second issue being that the pillows in the room were overly squishy and offered no support. I called the guest services number at 2am asking if they had firmer pillows. The woman on the phone said they have foam and feather pillows. I requested two foam pillows be brought to my room. I was pretty surprised when they brought pillows that were as squishy as the feather pillows already in the room. Definitely bring your own pillow if you prefer supportive pillows! When I checked out no one asked me how my stay was or anything along those lines. Disappointed.

I booked here to be close to Wrigley since I have elderly parents and we needed a close place to…read moreregroup before the game so I paid a premium for a room - and the cheapest room came with a view of the park. Great, right? The photo on the Bonvoy site had a nice view of Wrigley and the view of the room they first gave me... did not. Very misleading so I asked for a better room and got it. I understand that this is 'the game' that you have to play sometimes but was disappointed given that I'm Gold Elite and usually this sort of game isn't played. The view *was* great - nice view of the park - you can even see the ivy, and of course you can see Gallagher Park which is a multi-use space next to Wrigley where player statues are. However, the soundproofing of this hotel is abysmal and they should supply earplugs and eye masks. There's a gap between the blackout curtains and the top of the window so there was a thin but bright light coming through as the sun came up. And then there was the 7am workout class. 7am ON THE DOT I heard crazy loud dance music and sure enough I peeked out and saw a class in the park. Listen, I know it's a city and sounds are going to happen but this was so loud that the hotel could - and should - take steps to mitigate the inconvenience of being awakened by a fitness class at 7am. Otherwise, hotel is fine. You're paying for the location - and you get it. Not for biz travelers. Good for families and folks traveling with pets. Room layout is practical - lots of plugs next to bed and by the desk - with included iron and ironing board, safe, robe, and slippers. No lotion in bathroom but shampoo/conditioner/body wash in shower, and soap by sink. What you'd expect (but the lack of lotion was weird). Breakfast buffet is also fine - $26 for cereal, fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. Nothing extraordinary but the space is gorgeous and also has an outdoor area if you want to look at the park while you eat. Hotel could really shine by adding bedside earplugs and eye masks, making it more explicit upon check-in that you need to request a coffee maker or fridge in your room, and improve the light seepage on those blackout curtains. These all are easy - and thoughtful - fixes.

THE PROBLEM WITH GENTRIFICATION!…read more I set up an appointment to check out their available offices for rent. Mind you, this place is in PILSEN, a culturally diverse area that is known for its rich Mexican heritage. Well...I get there and the receptionist clearly does not know anything about pricing. She first tells me pricing is not her thing, then she says something about a credit check...I should have picked up on where she was going then...THEN she says something about it being negotiable. Turns out, the guy I was supposed to meet with, Patrick, didn't even make himself available to meet with me during my scheduled appointment to answer my questions. Then, Patrick comes in, doesn't say hello, doesn't even make eye contact but the receptionist tells me he'll be with me in a minute. So, after about 5 minutes he comes in and asks me what I do. I tell him I'm a psychotherapist...he doesn't seem to have a CLUE what that is, neither did the receptionist. I explain..."I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor. I see clients for depression and anxiety...blah blah blah". He says he still doesn't understand AND he's worried about safety! SAFETY?! He then goes on to tell me that the other tenants need to be comfortable and that tenants have access to the entire floor (kitchen, waiting room, etc.) so he's "concerned" about who will be coming in for appointments. Hmmmm.... I try to explain again...this time at a kindergarten level. I try the term "couples counseling"...he gets it. FINALLY! But, then he goes back to the safety issue. Hmmmm...THEN....THEN he goes into.."I'll have to run your credit"...of course...duh! I simply said, "Patrick, I have great credit". I thanked him, shook his hand, and got the F outta there! Now, as a black woman, I'm used to this kind of tom foolery but I would expect that in the heart of downtown NOT in Pilsen. I'm a professional...TREAT ME LIKE A PROFESSIONAL! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SPOT. Not to mention the people that I did see renting space there WERE ALL WHITE....NO DIVERSITY. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH GENTRIFICATION PEOPLE. SO SAD!

LUXURY AT HALF THE COST…read more I am a Hispanic female licensed real estate broker, and I am a tenant at Lobi space. My partner and I have shared a suite at Lobi for almost seven months and our experience has been excellent from the very beginning. When we first met Patrick the on site property manager and his partner Bernard we knew we were in the right place. Their professional, friendly, approachable, welcoming and in our case accommodating to the smallest detail. For example, neither my partner or I are the most tech savvy people and we can at times be "needy" when it comes to assistance with our tech issues. Both Patrick and Bernard have always come to our rescue when we have our tech meltdowns. Mind you their property managers, not IT guys or crisis prevention staff. I can't emphasize enough what helpful, kind gentlemen they are. They not only accommodate all the Lobi tenants like this but they go out of their way to create a family friendly, safe, and pleasant work environment for all. Meanwhile giving us the most beautiful space to work out of, we love showing off our office and the Lobi space to our clients. Lobi space is a perfect refection of the Pilsen neighborhood, in fact it is adorned with art work by local Pilsen artists. Additionally, their admin assistant Kathy has been a God sent since she came on board. She is right in sync with Patrick & Bernard's philosophy of creating a comfortable yet professional work space. Every client I've had come in comments on how friendly and accommodating she is. Lastly if your looking for a professional, chic, affordable, friendly and DIVERSE office space where the majority of the Lobi tenants are MINORITY OWNED BUSINESSES come visit our space. I guarantee you'll love coming to work everyday, I know I do. P.S. Our office space comes with WIFI, copier, fax and scanning services, security system, and private parking.

Bridget greeted me at the front desk and showed me around. Fantastic customer service. Each floor had a different vibe. Because I had to take a few meetings, I hung out on a pretty empty floor with a desk all to myself. WiFi was strong and there was hardworking staff cleaning around me the entire time. I walked around the building after I was done with work. Rooftop didn't seem super impressive, but I can imagine dressing it up for special events. Always love when there's an espresso machine in the kitchen, though the music is SUPER loud and the communal tables don't lock. Definitely vintage look with all the old-looking furniture. Overall solid work spot to check out if you're local or visiting Chicago. Spacious and perfect for all types of people and industries. Would love to be around the regulars next time!

I have been here since around August 2020 in the height of Coronavirus, so it's been a little quieter around here. But the energy is still high and perfect for working, studying or even relaxing back with a beverage from the coffee bar. Location is ideal as it's close to EVERYTHING from great restaurants to the lake. The lake is a quick 10-minute walk for an escape to meditate or maybe even a picnic lunch. In the last 6 months, I have seen a lot of change here at DeskLabs for the better. The owner has deliberately built a highly capable and customer oriented team lead by a new community manager, Kiely Cross. She is aces! Kiely and her team are dedicated to created a dynamic and inviting environment for their community. I am looking forward to getting back to normal and watching Desklabs become more social and energetic! Keep up the Fire, Team #Desklabs!
