Key fobs are used for entry to the building and metal keys for the actual unit itself. Free street parking less than a block away can be found, just have to keep driving around to find it. The building is very large, yet quiet and spacious with a fitness room, laundry facilities, vending machines in the lobby and a front friendly desk person who is seldom at the desk, but that's OK since we didn't need any assistance while we were there. The building is old, but clean, and we saw no bugs inside our unit. The hallways are muggy, no air-conditioning in the halls. Management has large fans in the lobby to circulate air. Window air-conditioner units inside the apartments work great! The location is in a very safe part of Hyde Park with a café located right outside the building, a Mexican restaurant next-door and a sweet shop across the street, very walkable area to the lake as well.

Update- Mac has required residents to use an app to enter the building and elevators however after…read morea year and several iterations of the app I'm still finding myself standing outside of my building, connecting the buildings WiFi, signing in the app (with multi factor verification) to then enter the building. If the app isn't auto signing out, I also find myself unable to enter the building because within the keys there are none available causing me to sign out and back into the all. All of this just to get into my building. I've requested a fob multiple times now. Originally I was told none were available. But ever being trapped in the glass box that is the entry way in 95 degree heat with a toddler I've asked again. I was asked to go down to their office for a conversation about a fob... With things rarely being simple with Mac now there needs to be "approval" for me to get a fob. Approval for a key to enter the building I pay rent for a unit in?! Make it make sense Mac. Since the only way your team solves issues is after a poor online review please consider this now my 4th request for a fob.

It goes without saying there is NO rational or explanation of what these fees represent. An additional $500 refundable fee is also required for the booking of elevators. During my two year stay one of the two elevators was out of actions for more than 4 months as a repair part could not be secured in advance by the management. An additional reason for the low rating is also an issue with the parcel delivery system. If you -like most working people- return home past 6:30 pm you cannot get access to your parcels but have to wait till the next morning to get them! Totally absurd and although a known issue the management and most tenants do not want to address it. The review does not represent the attitude of the front lobby staff - Fred and Herman- are exceptional, extremely professional and will go out of their way to help. The same applies to the cleaning staff that keep the place in excellent state. There are no rent incentives or additional amenities , as seen in similarly priced and newly constructed buildings in the neighborhood. For the high rents charged here, you can certainly get much better deals

My group of seven stayed at Sentral this past weekend to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday. We also had two additional friends staying at a different hotel who visited briefly. We also listed the appropriate number of occupants on each room when each room was reserved. Night 1 (4/23/2026): Around 9 PM on Thursday, we entered the building with one member of our group who had just arrived and still had his luggage. Security immediately questioned him about whether he had checked in and if he had a room. We confirmed that he did. Later that evening, while waiting for an Uber, we politely asked the same security guard for recommendations in the city, and he completely ignored us. Night 2 (4/24/2026): After dinner, we returned to the hotel with our two visiting friends, making our group nine people. As soon as we walked in, the same security guard loudly demanded that we step aside and began aggressively enforcing a "3 people per room, 2 guests at a time" policy. He questioned us about how many rooms we had, demanded room numbers and names, and even asked people to raise their hands according to which room they were staying in. We were confused but complied. This interrogation happened publicly as other guests walked in and out, which was humiliating. Once it became clear that we were not violating any policy, we proceeded to the elevator--only for the guard to follow us and claim there had been a complaint about us "sneaking people in," followed by a quiet apology. If the disrespect was loud and public, the apology should have been as well. Minutes later, while waiting for an Uber, we observed the same guard allowing other groups to enter freely without asking for keys or questioning them at all. Throughout the stay: The treatment did not improve. Front desk staff repeatedly failed to greet us or respond when we spoke, while engaging normally with other guests. At one point, while simply waiting in the lobby, we were again questioned as if we did not belong there. As a group of young Black professionals who were respectful, well-behaved, and not causing any disturbance, this experience was not only embarrassing--it was deeply unsettling. I love Chicago, but I will never stay at this property again, and I will not recommend it to others.

The Door team is second to none! Always greeted us personally and loved sharing about our lives with them. They loved my daughter and were so sweet with her! Nancy the property manager from Sudler was great anytime we had an issue. Always worked around our schedule and super responsive even after hours. Maintenance was so friendly working with a smile on their face and helpful! The amenities were perfect! Even the other residents always friendly and saying hello! You actually knew your neighbors! I lived in a bldg before where I didn't even meet the person who lived next door... not he case here! Highly recommend!

There have been multiple mailbox and car break-ins, and the noise from the neighbors on the third floor is unbearable. The pervasive smell of weed from other units makes living here unpleasant. The association imposes ridiculous and excessive fees purely to enrich themselves. They charge a $300-$400 move-out fee for so-called "monitoring" services, but all they do is hang old moving curtains in the elevator. Additionally, they demand a $300 refundable fee for potential damages, further padding their pockets. During my time here, I have seen numerous move-ins and move-outs, and I have never seen the association actually assist with any of them. Living here has been a terrible experience, and I strongly advise against renting or buying in this building. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Residents who had longer to decide and negotiate were more advantageous in making a decision. We were notified in late April of the takeover and my lease was up in September. While I was searching for an apartment, prospective buyers were constantly viewing my loft even on my move date. I could not stay longer as they were not going to renew my lease. I was a very good tenant, paid rent on time and was not given any extra consideration. Tenants who renewed their leases in April had the entire year to decide. Buy or forced to leave. Could not use your own lender.
